Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Betrayed on All Sides

Blood still dripping from his fingers, Homelander held up the second Sharingan—

Uchiha Kagami's second eye—before the entire village of Konoha.

Three tomoe, perfectly intact.

There was no mistaking it.

"That's Uchiha Kagami's Sharingan…"

Even Fugaku staggered, his expression shaken.

Back when Kagami was alive, he had held immense respect not just within the Uchiha clan, but throughout all of Konoha.

He was widely recognized as the bridge between the Uchiha and the village, a true hero and mediator.

Many had idolized him.

When he passed, his death sent shockwaves through the village.

No one could have imagined that the second of his cherished Sharingan eyes would end up…

In Danzo's hand.

And when they thought of all the foul deeds Danzo had been rumored to commit—

the revulsion came naturally.

"Kill Danzo!"

"This is unforgivable! How could he desecrate the body of a comrade?!"

"Desecration and theft of a corpse is a capital crime—do we even need to debate it?"

"Calm down! Maybe—maybe Kagami gave it to him before he died? Let's think reasonably!"

That last comment brought a pause.

Even Kakashi, with his single Sharingan, lowered his head awkwardly, tugging his forehead protector further down.

But Fugaku's voice shattered any remaining doubt.

"Kagami's eyes were confirmed intact—both of them—right up until his burial."

"We verified them ourselves, repeatedly." His tone was filled with fury.

"To the Uchiha, a burial without eyes means the soul can't be guided by Indra.

Without his eyes, he'll be lost forever in the afterlife."

His glare locked onto Danzo.

"No matter what you say, we Uchiha will never forgive this!"

With that, Fugaku and every Uchiha present activated their Sharingan.

Single tomoe. Double tomoe. Triple tomoe.

Even Mangekyō.

In an instant, crimson pupils dotted the crowd like a sea of burning stars.

Danzo broke into a cold sweat.

The searing pain in his hand was forgotten.

Even Hiruzen had begun to withdraw support.

Because Fugaku was telling the truth—

Danzo had been there at Kagami's burial.

He had seen both eyes. Intact. At rest.

And now?

The implication was unbearable.

Danzo had desecrated the grave of a friend.

"What else do you have to say for yourself, Danzo?"

Homelander's voice dripped with sorrow, though his eyes sparkled with victory.

"When my subordinates brought this to me, I still tried to defend you."

"I thought maybe you were just bitter over not becoming Hokage… But to release the Nine-Tails? To threaten the whole village? You were my idol once…"

His voice cracked.

He turned away, wiping tears from his eyes.

"Oh, Lord Fourth…"

The villagers looked on with pity and grief.

They were heartbroken… for him.

Danzo had no words.

All his schemes, his calculations—

He had never anticipated this.

"Lord Danzo… is it true?"

Even his own Root subordinates looked shaken.

They could stomach Danzo stealing Sharingan for tactical advantage.

But releasing the Nine-Tails to destroy the village, just to become Hokage?

That crossed a line they couldn't accept.

They had families in this village too.

No matter how ruthless their missions, they had joined Root believing in the village's safety.

Now?

They stared at their leader like he was a monster.

"Minato," Hiruzen interjected, turning to the only man who had seen the masked intruder.

"You fought the man who summoned the Nine-Tails. Do you think it could've been Danzo?"

Every head turned to Namikaze Minato.

With a single word, he could seal Danzo's fate.

Minato hesitated, glancing between Danzo and Homelander.

And then, a thought buried deep inside him was gently pulled to the surface.

Not his own… but it became his own.

"I wouldn't say he looked exactly like Danzo," Minato said slowly.

"But… the more I think about it, the more I realize how similar they were."

"The voice, the chakra, the presence… It was all very similar."

He nodded firmly, his tone resolute.

For a moment, a faint green glimmer flickered in his eyes—unnoticed by all but one.

Hiashi Hyuga, standing in the crowd, caught the strange glint.

But he said nothing.

He saw the dangerous looks the Uchiha were giving him.

The Hyuga had their own bloodline to protect.

Their own grudges. Their own role in this village.

This was not their battle.

Let the Uchiha and Danzo fight it out.

With Minato's confirmation, Danzo was doomed.

He couldn't believe it—Minato, the honest man, had lied?

Or perhaps… that bastard Homelander had used that damn genjutsu again.

You win, you shameless bastard.

"It was Danzo?! He really did it?!"

"Monster! How could he do that to us?!"

"Only someone like Danzo could even get close to the Jinchūriki…"

"This was planned. Premeditated!"

"Filthy scum! Die, traitor!"

The crowd exploded.

Objects were thrown, fists raised, and fury ignited.

"Please—calm down!"

Hiruzen tried to stop the chaos, but it was useless.

The villagers had snapped.

Their grief, their rage—their pain from lost children, destroyed homes—

All of it poured out.

BAM! SMASH! CRACK!

They swarmed Danzo.

He was dragged to the ground, trampled by dozens of feet, punched, kicked, beaten senseless.

His bones snapped one by one.

Blood soaked into the dirt.

He managed, with great effort, to tilt his head upward—

And saw Homelander standing over him with a smirk.

"Hey there."

The Fourth Hokage crouched beside him, grinning with amusement.

Danzo couldn't move.

Couldn't resist.

Couldn't stop what was coming.

"You thought you could fight me?" Homelander whispered.

"Trash."

He spat on Danzo's face with contempt.

That was it.

That was the final blow—not to his body, but to his soul.

Something inside Danzo snapped.

All his years of restraint.

All his missions.

All the lies he told himself for "the greater good."

Gone.

"To hell with all of you!!!"

Danzo screamed.

He clenched his fists.

Wood Style—

Wooden spikes erupted from his body, piercing dozens of villagers.
