Steven Davis sneered, "I was just careless, that's all. If I had been on guard against you tipping off Westgate in advance from the beginning, you wouldn't be in this position today."
I chuckled, "Didn't you leak the information yourself?"
I continued, "Ever since the fifth unit handed the Westgate case to me, Westgate's people knew almost immediately. This can only mean that they have eyes inside our team. But I didn't know who the mole was, so before confirming anything, I had all members of the second unit operate in secret. The naive action reports I submitted were just to divert attention. I figured you underestimated me because of those reports, right? Thus, not only you, but even Westgate didn't take me seriously. So, in your eyes, I was the least noticeable person, which made my job much easier."
Steven Davis looked at me with curiosity: "Then how did you know the mole was me?"
