Chapter 52 - Chapter 52 – A Sincere Conversation

Chapter 52 – A Sincere Conversation

The playful chaos in the mansion's grand hall showed no signs of stopping as Vaggie and Loona finally approached the wrestling pair.

Razan looked up at them and said:

— Vaggie, you have to control your cheerful elf here. Look at the damage she's doing to my imposing image.

Charlie said smiling:

— Don't joke. The only imposing image you have is for those who don't know you yet. For those who know you, you're just a lazy dragon.

Razan said:

— Of course I'm lazy. I'm still a young dragon. I need to sleep to grow. I'm not like someone who has centuries and still looks like a surfboard.

Charlie said:

— Who are you calling a surfboard, you idiot dragon?!

Vaggie and Loona, seeing that their idiots were going to fight again, finally separated them with practiced ease.

Vaggie looked at Charlie and said:

— Don't mind him, dear. You're beautiful just the way you are. I wouldn't change anything about you.

Charlie looked at Vaggie happily and hugged her affectionately, the warmth of the embrace melting away any lingering annoyance.

Razan, seeing this, looked at Loona expectantly.

Loona, catching his look, said:

— What are you waiting for? You're really a lazy nerd dragon. That's not a lie.

Razan put his hand on his chest dramatically and said:

— Betrayed by my love. I don't deserve to live.

Loona, seeing him like that, just said softly:

— Well, even so, you're still my lazy dragon.

Razan smiled hearing that.

He then approached and kissed Loona, who was surprised but responded back with equal tenderness.

After a while, they separated.

He then looked at her and whispered in her ear:

— I still remember the gift you wanted to give me. I'm waiting. After all, today is the right day.

Loona lightly bit his shoulder and said:

— Charlie forgot to mention that you're more perverted than lazy.

Charlie then looked at everyone and said excitedly:

— Well, let's go set up a beautiful birthday for Loona!

She then grabbed Loona's hand and ran off with her to set up the party, their footsteps echoing through the halls.

Loona, being pulled by Charlie, said:

— Charlie, I don't need something very big. A normal party is fine for me.

Charlie:

— I know, but just because we have few guests doesn't mean the party has to be ugly and boring. It's your birthday, one of my best friends. I have to make something beautiful.

She then pulled Loona further to set up the party, already planning decorations and surprises in her mind.

Razan approached Vaggie, who had stayed behind, watching the others disappear down the corridor.

— Well, strange, isn't it? We've never been alone since we first met.

Vaggie smiled and said:

— Well, it's true. I always come with Charlie and you two always get very excited playing around and we never got to talk properly.

Razan said:

— Vaggie, can I ask you a question?

Vaggie got confused but said:

— All right. I don't see a problem with that.

Razan said:

— My question is pretty simple. To be exact: do you truly love Charlie?

Razan looked at her waiting for the answer and thought:

Although in the original this is something no one needs to question, this world isn't the original. This world had several changes that I can't perceive because of my existence. So what if some shit changed. She's a spy that Heaven or Adam placed next to Charlie. I wouldn't doubt for a second that this could happen.

Vaggie stayed silent hearing that, but then she smiled and said:

— Yes, I truly love Charlie. I know that you, as her best friend, want to protect her. After all, she's so naive and kind even living in this place. It's hard to believe that another person in this place would have sincere feelings for someone else. But I tell you: I really love her for real.

Razan, hearing this, smiled and said:

— Cool. I trust you.

Vaggie said surprised:

— Just like that, you trust me because I said it? Sure, I told the truth, but didn't you trust a bit too quickly?

Razan said:

— Vaggie, do you know how I manage to find sinners who didn't commit heinous crimes during the extermination? I have the power of truth. No one can lie in front of me without me knowing. So when you said you love her, I could only feel truth in it.

Vaggie said:

— But then why…

Razan interrupted and completed the sentence:

— Why didn't I ask more things about you since you can't lie to me?

Vaggie said:

— Yes, why?

Razan said:

— Well, because I already asked the only question that matters to me. The rest of the secrets you should tell her yourself when you think it's best. I don't want to interfere in your relationship. I already did my part as her best friend: making sure you love her. The rest you decide on your own.

He then looked at her and smiled:

— Well, if one day you also consider me a friend like Charlie, I wouldn't mind listening to what you have to say.

Vaggie, hearing this, smiled and said:

— Now I know why for Charlie she considers you part of her family.

Vaggie said:

— Yes, I wouldn't mind being your friend too.

Razan said:

— Well, then let's go see what Charlie is up to. I just hope she doesn't drain all of my wolf's social battery. After all, there's still the party to happen.

Vaggie smiled and said:

— Well, I don't think she'll overdo it like that.

Razan looked at her and said:

— Charlie not overdoing the excitement?

They then looked at each other for a second, paused, then ran after Charlie
