Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 — Coincidence or Fate

The next week, I tried to convince myself not to go to the café.

I failed.

But when I arrived, he wasn't behind the counter.

A younger staff member said he "wasn't working today."

I should've left.

I didn't.

I ordered something random and sat down anyway, staring at the door like an abandoned puppy.

Just when I decided to give up, the door opened.

He walked in.

Casual clothes.

Slightly messy hair.

A surprised look when he spotted me.

"…You're here?" he asked.

"I—I was just studying."

He eyed the untouched drink on my table.

"You don't even like caramel lattes."

My heart stopped.

He remembered something I never even told him verbally—

I just never ordered sweet drinks.

"Why do you know that?" I whispered.

He brushed past me, voice low.

"Because you're always here."

And for the first time, I wondered if this wasn't coincidence anymore.
