Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Hidden Truth

After Betty Jean, Camille, Lucy, Joel, and Verdona had left, the room at Gwen's house was heavy with tension. Only Frank Tennyson, Natalie Tennyson, Gwen, Ben, and Kevin remained. Gwen and her parents were still reeling from the revelations about Alexander Lionel Tennyson—the depth of his secrets, the power he held, and the sacrifices he had made. Kevin, drenched in sweat and pale with fear, fidgeted nervously beside them.

Ben broke the silence. "I… I need to know everything. Grandpa Max—he has to tell us."

Ben quickly dialed his grandfather's number. Once connected, he asked bluntly, "Grandpa… is Alex really the son of Morax Nava?"

Max's voice was serious, almost grave. "Who told you that, Ben?"

Ben recounted everything that had happened in Gwen's house—the break-up, Verdona's visit, the revelations about Avalon Groups, and the astonishing claims about Morax Nava.

After listening, Max let out a long sigh. "Put the phone on speaker. Everyone should hear this."

Ben did as instructed. Max's voice filled the room, steady and commanding:

"The information you know about Alexander is only the surface. Very little. Let me explain.

"First, his father, Morax Nava, is the most powerful Dragon God in the universe. When Morax died protecting his planet, he entrusted his son to Gordon and Betty Jean Tennyson. At that moment, Morax made an oath—to never reveal Alex's true identity until he was strong enough to protect himself. I, Gordon, and Betty Jean swore to uphold that oath.

"Gordon and Betty Jean raised Alex as their own son, loving and spoiling him. Joel Tennyson… is the ultimate big brother. Overprotective, caring, brocon to the core. You have no idea how devoted he is.

"Alex created Avalon Group when he was just eight years old. In ten years, he turned it into the most powerful company in the universe. The company has elite armies capable of defending against any threat, resources that rival many planets, and allies from countless races—including hybrid aliens and the Ma Vreedle.

"About those allies: the hybrids were on the verge of extinction. Alex negotiated a deal to cure their DNA, saving their species. In return, they swore eternal loyalty to him. The Ma Vreedle… treat Alex as their godson. Do you understand the magnitude of this, Ben?"

Ben, Gwen, and her parents were already in shock; Kevin was pale and sweating, visibly shaking. Max continued:

"Ben, the Omnitrix you are using—Alex is one of its developers and also a student of Azmuth himself. And Gwen… the day you broke up with Alex was the day he planned to propose to you. He bought a diamond ring, not as a symbol of romantic love alone, but as a sign of authority. With that ring, the holder could deploy Avalon Group's armies, allies, wealth, and resources at will. Do you see now what your definition of 'perfect' really cost you?"

Gwen's face went pale. Her hands trembled as she collapsed into the chair. "Grandpa… who… who loved him?" she whispered.

Ben, voice steady but somber, answered: "Lucy Mann… Charmcaster… Velgrynd… Velzard… Venelana Bael… Grayfia Lucifuge… Albedo. Every one of them loved Alex, and… they're all more beautiful than you, Gwen."

The weight of that truth crushed Gwen, and her parents could only sigh in disappointment—not at Alex, but at their daughter. She had broken up with a man who had loved her selflessly, waited for her, and sacrificed so much, only to be rejected.

Max's voice softened, almost fatherly now. "Gwen… good luck with college and your love life."

He ended the call. Gwen's parents exchanged glances, their faces filled with quiet disappointment. There was nothing they could do—they could only bless her choices and hope she would learn.

Gwen, still shaken, gathered Kevin's hand and left for college. Ben and her parents remained behind, silent for a moment. They shared a long, understanding sigh—both in relief that Alex was safe, and in frustration at Gwen's blindness.

Ben finally left the house, walking away with the weight of everything he had just learned. The room was quiet again… except for the echoes of a man's love and patience that had gone unappreciated.
