Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Kaiju In Japan (End)

[Third Person POV]

"Wait, girls!" Saeko's sharp voice cut through just as Momo and Lala were about to rush out of the shrine, wings and energy flaring in their eagerness to take flight.

Both of them froze mid-step, turning back with confusion written across their faces.

"What is it?" Momo asked, brows furrowed.

Saeko's hand pressed against her hip, her eyes narrowing at the two. "Were you seriously planning to go out and meet Clark without thinking it through. If either of you appear before him in front of cameras, you'll be giving away his identity without question."

Both Momo and Lala blinked, their faces falling in sudden realization.

"Ah…" they groaned in unison, the weight of Saeko's words finally sinking in. Clark's fight was being broadcast all over the nation—if they flew straight to him openly, Lala's alien heritage would be revealed in a heartbeat, along with countless other dangerous repercussions.

"I've got the perfect thing for just this occasion!" Lala suddenly brightened, spinning so fast she became a blur. Peke shimmered with a dazzling light around her, and in an almost magical girl-like transformation, her outfit materialized.

She landed in a dramatic pose, her new attire sparkling: a frilly pink suit with devil wings sprouting from the back, a matching pink headband with curved horns, and a bold "S" embroidered across her chest—though the letter was stylized with a curling devil tail and wings.

"Call me… Super Woman!" she declared proudly, striking a heroic pose.

"No," both Saeko and Momo deadpanned flatly.

Lala blinked and tilted her head. "...Supergirl?"

"More like Super Succubus," Momo scoffed, folding her arms. "If you're ever going to make a serious debut, you're going to need to work on your name—and your entire look. Not to mention, your pink hair is a dead giveaway."

Lala pouted, but Saeko stepped forward before an argument could break out. Her tone softened, but her words carried weight. "Listen, both of you. Keep your distance from the cameras and the crowd. Don't let anyone connect you to Clark. Stay far enough back before you call him over, and only then hand him whatever you prepared. Understand?"

They both nodded, taking her words seriously now. After a brief but firm rundown of what they needed to avoid, Saeko dismissed them with a small wave.

The two girls stepped outside, glanced at each other once, then shot up into the skies, streaks of pink and black against the horizon as they rushed toward Clark's location.

Meanwhile…

Lois and Samuel screeched to a halt, their car stuck in front of a swarming river of people clogging the roads. The flood of bodies stretched endlessly, blocking any clear passage forward.

"Hold on, Lois—we'll circle around and try another approach!" Samuel barked, his knuckles white as he spun the wheel and gunned the car toward a different street. The west side was a lost cause; they'd have to try the south.

Minutes later, they reached the battlefield's edge, where uniformed policemen had thrown up a makeshift barricade. People pressed close, desperate for a glimpse of the impossible battle unfolding.

Samuel cursed under his breath as his shoulders slumped. "Damn it…" He hung his head low, knowing the situation was dire.

Lois clutched the egg close to her chest, her expression tight. "Do you think they'll let us through if we explain?" she asked hesitantly, though even she knew how unlikely that was.

Samuel's jaw clenched as he looked at her, then at the blockade. He exhaled through his nose, eyes narrowing with resolve. "I'm going to be in so much trouble for this… Lois, hold on to your seatbelt."

Lois's heart skipped a beat as she quickly bracing herself while keeping the egg protected with her body.

Samuel slammed his foot down on the accelerator. The car roared forward like a bullet, his hand blaring the horn in rapid bursts.

The policemen at the barricade spun around in shock, shouting commands for him to stop. When it became clear he wasn't slowing down, they were forced to dive out of the way at the last second—

The vehicle smashed through the wooden barrier, splinters exploding around them as they surged onto the restricted road, heading straight for the chaos ahead.

"Has he lost his mind?!" one of the officers on the ground shouted, their panic echoed by others watching from the ruined city's edge.

The group reached the shattered perimeter—what was once a thriving town was now reduced to rubble. Jagged skeletons of buildings jutted from heaps of stone and twisted steel, flames painted the wreckage in hellish orange, while smoke curled skyward like veils.

Above the devastation, Superman hovered. His gaze was locked on the fallen Kaiju sprawled against the shore, its colossal body heaving. Its cracked scales shimmered faintly, blood seeping into the ocean. Clark's brows furrowed as he picked up something unexpected. The monster's luminous eyes welled with tears.

'It's crying… Is it from the pain?' he thought, unease knotting in his chest.

The Kaiju's maw opened wide, unleashing a high pitch Whrrr that rattled the bones of everyone that heard out. Clark braced himself, narrowing his eyes. 'What am I supposed to do here? End it before it lashes out again? Or—'

"SUPERMAN!!"

The voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He pinched the bridge of his nose with irritation. "Why do I recognize that voice… and why is it so close?"

He turned his head, his vision piercing through the distance, beyond smoke and debris. His eyes widened. Lois Lane—stubborn as ever—was stumbling forward, her arms straining around a massive egg nearly her size, the shell glimmering with faint bioluminescence. Beside her, a blond man with sharp purple eyes—her father—matched her pace.

"It's here for the egg!!" Lois shouted.

The air cracked with a sharp whoosh. Her father's hair whipped back violently as if struck by a gale. Lois barely had time to register the shift in weight before the egg lifted from her grasp.

Superman stood before her in an instant, balancing the massive egg in one hand as though it were weightless. His eyes glowed faint azure, scanning deeper than the shell. He could see inside. Nestled in the warmth of the egg was a smaller Kaiju, curled and trembling.

"Well, I'll be…" Clark muttered softly, before nodding to Lois and Samuel. "Thank you for bringing this. I'll make sure it reaches its rightful owner. You have my gratitude… and I'm sure you will have hers as well."

He turned, cape lifting in the wind as he prepared to take off—

"Wait!!" Lois cried, leaping forward and clutching his cape. The crimson fabric slipped through her fingers like sand, her eyes widening at the surreal texture. "Woah…"

Clark glanced back with a raised brow. "What is it?"

Lois rubbed the back of her neck, sheepish despite the chaos around them. "When this is all over… could we maybe get an interview?"

He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Samuel quickly added, "And, uh… could you also help us not get arrested? We… broke quite a few laws getting this here."

A smirk tugged at Clark's lips. "I'll talk to the General. You'll be pardoned—and thanked—for your service." Then, with a faint sigh, "As for the interview… we'll talk once the city is rebuilt. Consider it a favor owed."

'Hopefully that'll buy me a few days,' he thought dryly.

Before Lois could reply, a burst of wind sent her hair flying back as Superman launched skyward, egg in hand.

"So cool," Lois muttered under her breath, awe softening her usual stubborn edge.

Meanwhile, Krypto barked loudly, circling the wounded Kaiju. Its low whimpers and growls answered him, carrying a strange, mournful rhythm. The two seemed to be communicating. Krypto's barking quieted into soft whines of sympathy.

The Kaiju's eyes shifted to the sun above, but the light was suddenly eclipsed. A shadow fell over its broken body—Superman descending, cape flowing, the massive egg cradled in his hand.

The beast's eyes widened. It struggled upright with a roar, high-pitched and desperate, recognizing its lost child. Krypto spun in rapid, joyful circles around Clark, barking with triumph.

Superman touched down lightly before the titanic mother, voice calm but resonant. "Hey, Mama," he said with a small smile. "I think you lost something."
