Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Ceceila gulped down on the alcohol in her hands as she slouched in her seat. She was currently in a bar/club as she needed to go somewhere where she wouldn't have to hear her thoughts out loud.

She took another gulp, feeling the drink burn as it slid down her throat. She bought a full bottle of fire whiskey and she had already gulped down about five glasses.

She was engaged?

She gulped another. She still tried to understand how her life turned from being jobless to being engaged to a random stranger. Life was taking a very bad turn without her permission and she hated it.

"Can't I just have things right for once?" She asked out low as she sobbed quietly. She began to wonder if things would be different if her mum was still alive. She had left her at the most complex parts of her life and although recovered, Cecelia never truly got over her death.

"Um miss? Don't you think you should slow down on the drink?" The bartender asked

Cecelia tugged on her hair as she looked up sharply at the young man. "Noo!" She said loudly. "This is the only thing I have control of right now. My life seems to be crashing down slowly…" she began crying again which made the man stare at her in confusion.

"But…" she raised her head up again alongside her hand which she raised up as well. "What if things actually play out well? Don't you think so?" She asked the man, her face heating up as she poured down another drink.

It was obvious she was already high on the liquor. She could feel her entire head heating up as she played with the glass in her hand.

The bartender immediately moved away from her as he faced other customers. Cecilia turned and stared at the people dancing, nodding her head to the loud music that filled the room.

Let her enjoy this small moment of bliss, even if it meant intoxicating herself to enjoy it.

"Hmmm hmmm" she hummed in sync with the beat as she moved slowly with her eyes closed.

"Aren't you just pretty?" she heard a masculine voice and she opened her eyes to catch sight of a man before her. "Hey there." The guy smiled as he sat beside her.

She stared at him, trying to comprehend what was going on but the liquor was really playing a toll with her senses.

"Huh?"

She watched the guy's lip break into a smile. "You sure are drunk aren't you? Don't you think you should slow down on the whiskey?"

He picked up the bottle and poured it into the glass.

"Who….are you?" She managed to ask as she watched him take the glass from her hand.

"Curious, aren't you doll." He gulped down the drink in one go. "I saw you crying from a distance. Is everything alright with you?"

"Get out!." Ceceila immediately shouted, leaving the guy in shock. She stood up immediately with full force, "I'm not getting engaged to anyone else." She said out of the blue while the guy just stared at her with an amused smirk on his lips.

She moved to walk away but swayed a bit and almost tripped on her way before the guy reached and wrapped his hands around her before she could reach the floor.

"I never said I was going to propose to you princess." Ceceila stared at him with wide eyes, her lighter blue eyes reflecting in his darker ones.

The smile on his lips made her face heat up. Finally he pulled her up and led her back to her seat quietly. He turned her chair around so she could face him and she allowed him without protesting.

"There you go. Now, are you going to tell me what the problem is? Your eyes seemed to be flowing with tears in them." He said, his face looking more calm and collected.

Ceceila didn't know when but she immediately felt herself break down in a fit of tears. The stranger watched her silently before moving closer to her. He used his fingers to pull her head up as he stared at her teary filled ocean eyes.

"Cry all you want first. I'd wait." He said as wiped her face gently with his hands.

Eventually, Cecelia opened up all that was going on with her. From her losing her job to being engaged to a complete stranger while the man listened silently.

"I could run away." Ceceila suggested as she wipes her nose with her palm

"And where would you go? Do you think that would fix anything?"

"Well…" a hiccup escaped her lips, "it's worth a try."

This caused a smile to form on his lips. He moved his face closer to hers while she stared at him blankly, "Whenever you're ready to run, just tell me so I can come pick you up."

A light laugh escaped her lips at the stranger before her. She didn't know if it was the alcohol but she was really enjoying his company.

"You're pretty." He said and her face heated up. The next thing, he leaned closer and closed her lips with his.

Everything started off foggy until Cecelia drunkenly gave into the kiss.

He wrapped his hands around her and pulled her even closer to himself while she wrapped her hands around his neck. He picked her up from the chair as she wrapped her legs around his waist while they moved away from the bar side and further into another part of the club and into the shadows.

The next day came suddenly for Cecelia as she woke up within the comfort of her bed. Squinting her eyes at the sun reflecting into it; she tried to sit up straight but was immediately hit with a hard headache.

"Arggh" her hand flew to her head as she looked around. She was still at her Dad's place. She felt her mouth dried completely from any liquid which she struggled with a terrible headache.

What happened yesterday?

Moving on her bed, she paused in her actions and looked down. she could feel pain in between her thighs. Pulling down the bed cover from her legs. She had on a pair of shorts that she doesn't remember wearing but she could still feel the pain forming from her private region.

Did something happen last night?

The next moment, a knock sounded on her door and Tania walked in.

"Darlin, you're awake." She is immediately followed in by her father.

It was at that moment she remembered she had a slight argument with her dad. She had lost her job yesterday as well. And her father had also pronounced her engaged.

But what happened afterwards?

"How are you feeling now?" Tania immediately asked as she handed her a glass of coffee.

"Thank you." She took it. "Um, I don't know how I really feel. I'd say odd?"

"Well that's expected after you returned home late and drunk last night. What were you thinking Cecelia?" Her father spoke and she moved her attention to him. "What if something could have happened and you didn't make it home?"

"Well at least I'd not have to get married to a stranger." She said sarcastically and her father frowned.

"That's not funny pumpkin."

"Neither is you selling me off." She felt another pang of pain and immediately kept quiet.

Her father sighed. "Well I hope you can work today with the hangover, and tell your bus you're taking a sick leave today. We'll be visiting my friend and her son today." Her father announced and she widened her eyes at her words

"You can't be serious dad." She watched her father fold his hand.

A knock grabbed the three people's attention.

"Come in."

Suddenly, a guy peaked his head through the door with a wide smile on his lips, catching Cecelia by surprise.

"Kofi!" She immediately jumped up to go hug her older brother. She hasn't seen him in almost a year now.

"What are you doing here? When did you come back?"

"Well, when I heard my baby sister is engaged, I just thought I should come follow you to your first meeting with your in-laws."

Cecelia stared at her brother in disbelief before turning her attention to her father.

"Pick out something nice to wear. We'd be leaving after breakfast."
