After what went down at the Glass House and the Basement, the three of us were living on edge. We'd all been through something traumatic, something that had left us shaken and scared. So, we decided to lay low for a while, to try and process everything that had happened.
We ended up crashing at my place for over a week, trying to keep a low profile and avoid any more drama. Things were cool, we were all getting along, and it seemed like we were finally starting to heal.
But then, one Monday night, Thocco leaned back in her chair, her eyes glazing over as she stared into the distance. Tadala and I exchanged a curious glance, but Thocco's words pulled us in.
"It started with Odeesa," she said, her voice low and hypnotic. "A reclusive scholar who believed sex was a force that could reshape the world. He wrote about it, taught about it, and people listened. Women began to treat intimacy as a transaction, and men... men lost everything."
Thocco's words painted a vivid picture of Odeesa's twisted ideology. "He preached that women could ascend to any societal position by leveraging sex with those in power," she explained, her voice laced with a mix of disgust and sadness. "It led to a disturbing trend where women were reduced to mere objects, trading intimacy for financial gain. They'd simulate pleasure, fake every moan, all for a quick profit. Odeesa's influence warped the minds of millions, turning sex into a commodity, a tool for manipulation and control."
Tadala's eyes widened in horror, while I felt a growing sense of unease. Thocco's words struck a chord, reminding us of the darker aspects of human nature.
"Odeesa's legacy is a stain on our society," Thocco continued, her voice dripping with conviction. "He reduced sex to a mere transaction, stripping it of its true meaning and beauty. And it's still happening today, with people using sex as a means to make ends meet, rather than a genuine expression of love and connection."
The room fell silent, the weight of Thocco's words hanging heavy in the air. We knew that we were dealing with something much bigger than ourselves, something that went beyond our individual experiences.
Tadala leaned forward, her eyes alight with a restless curiosity, voice hushed as though the walls might overhear.
"So that's when Nola Kates immerged?" Tadala brought in...."I've caught whispers of her name," she murmured. "Nola Kates wrote about love as something sacred, didn't she? Of sex as a true meeting of souls, pleasure and affection given freely, never traded?", she exhaled with heart to know more from Thocco she coughed.
Thocco's lips curved into a slow, enigmatic smile.
"She did. In a world twisted by Odeesa's cold doctrines, Nola's words shone like a quiet flame. They reminded people what intimacy could be tender, mutual, alive. Her pages healed what he had broken, breathing warmth back into hearts grown numb."
Tadala held Thocco's gaze, unblinking, as if searching for cracks in the story.
"But that's only the surface, isn't it?" Tadala pressed, voice trembling with anticipation. "There's something deeper… something she tried to bury, right?"
Thocco's smile sharpened, a glint of danger flickering in her eyes.
"The real fire lived in the forbidden chapters," she said softly. "The ones she hides from the light. They weren't gentle lessons in love, they were maps to the wildest edges of desire, places polite society pretends don't exist. Secrets both intoxicating and perilous."
A cold shiver traced my spine. The air in the room seemed to thicken, shadows lengthening as if listening.
Tadala's breath caught. "I've heard rumors," she whispered. "That those pages are banned for a reason. That they awaken things better left sleeping."
Thocco's gaze burned into hers, steady and unyielding.
"They are banned," she replied, voice low as a confession. "And with good cause. Nola's hidden words don't merely describe desire, they summon it. Once read, some hungers refuse to be caged again."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as Thocco's eyes locked onto mine. "You have one of those chapters, don't you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Thocco's smile grew wider. "I do. And it's changed everything."
Tadala leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Tell us, Thocco. What did you learn from Nola's forbidden chapters?"
Thocco's gaze drifted off into the distance, her voice taking on a hypnotic quality. "I learned that desire is a force that can't be tamed. It's a wild animal that roams free, and we're just along for the ride. And I learned that the only way to truly experience pleasure is to surrender to that desire, to let go of all inhibitions and societal expectations."
As Thocco spoke, the room seemed to darken, the shadows twisting and writhing like living things. I felt a presence closing in around me, a sense of being pulled into something much darker than I could ever imagine.
And then, everything went black.
When I came to, I was back in the present, Thocco and Tadala staring at me with concerned expressions.
"Hey, are you okay?" Tadala asked, her voice laced with worry.
I nodded, still trying to shake off the feeling of unease. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a weird flashback."
Thocco's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. "It wasn't just a flashback at all. It was a warning. We're in this now, all of us. And we can't go back."
As Thocco spoke, I felt a chill run down my spine. I knew that she was right. We were trapped in a web of desire and darkness, and there was no escape.
