Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: I Run Forward Together With You

However, just as Arima Kousei was gazing intently, a gust of wind lifted the girl's skirt.

Since Arima Kousei was holding the girl's leggings and shoes, combined with the fact that he had seen her exposed, he was naturally taken for a pervert.

The two of them got into a scuffle.

Reading this, the corners of Bai Qing's mouth lifted unconsciously.

A meeting born of misunderstanding like this... surely, many years later, when the boy and girl are together and look back on this scene, they won't be able to help but laugh.

Just thinking about it feels wonderful.

I didn't expect Fang Qiu to understand this so well. Did she get into a relationship recently?

Holding onto this anticipation, Bai Qing continued reading.

By this point, Fang Qiu's writing style had become much lighter.

It was as if the encounter with the girl had allowed a ray of sunlight to pierce through Arima Kousei's originally closed-off world.

Just as the two were arguing heatedly over the misunderstanding, Tsubaki arrived with Watari.

After introductions, Arima Kousei learned the girl's name.

Miyazono Kaori.

She liked Watari.

And he was just a foil today, labeled 'Friend A.'

'Unfortunately, Kaori likes Watari. The you of today is nothing more than the supporting Friend A. Give it up.'

'Who would fall for a violent girl like that anyway?'

Reading this, Bai Qing couldn't help but furrow her brows.

What was going on?

Wasn't this Miyazono Kaori the female lead? How could she fall for a supporting character?

What was Fang Qiu doing?

With a sense of displeasure, she read on.

Miyazono Kaori checked the time, said it was about time, and that she had to go.

Having said that, she jogged away.

Watari, who had been dragged along, obviously didn't know where Miyazono Kaori was going and subconsciously asked.

'There.'

Not just Watari, but Arima Kousei also looked in the direction Miyazono Kaori pointed.

Up ahead, it said Concert Hall.

Miyazono Kaori would be performing in the concert hall soon.

Looking at the familiar name on the plaque, Arima Kousei froze.

'I won't go.'

He lowered his head, the light in his eyes gradually fading.

However, before Bai Qing could even begin to think, she saw the next line: Miyazono Kaori grabbed Arima Kousei's hand.

Without waiting for Arima Kousei to think either, Miyazono Kaori pulled him and ran toward the hall.

And Arima Kousei subconsciously moved his feet.

'The spring of my fourteenth year, I... run forward together with you.'

The story ended with a monologue from Arima Kousei.

'Phew.'

Bai Qing set down the manuscript and let out a long breath.

She hadn't expected Fang Qiu's writing ability to evolve so astonishingly.

The final paragraphs, in particular, displayed her skill to the fullest.

From Arima Kousei saying, 'I won't go,' to the implication of 'You come too,' the writing style shifted intensely from gloomy to bright.

Everything was so natural, without a hint of awkwardness.

Coupled with the story's high overall fluidity, it could be considered a masterpiece.

The publication sales would definitely not be low.

The only flaw was that the female lead actually liked someone else.

When Fang Qiu came to the editorial department next time, she would have to have a good talk with her.

Hmm... and one more point: the handwriting was too terrible.

It made one's eyes sore just looking at it.

Bai Qing rubbed the center of her brows and shifted her gaze to the copy of A Legend of Sword beside her, a strong sense of resistance rising in her heart.

How about...

calling it a day here?

'Mmm...'

Bai Qing stretched her back, letting out a long, relaxed sound.

'Eh, Ah Qing, you seem to be in a really good mood?'

Just as Bai Qing was sore and packing up to get off work, several teasing voices rang out.

Bai Qing looked back to see a few of her colleagues standing at the door.

'Seniors, why did you come back?'

'Oh, isn't it because we felt bad for you, our junior, working overtime reading books by these two authors?'

'Then thank you, seniors.'

'You haven't answered our question yet? Why do you seem so happy today?'

'Because I read a really great book. Do you want to read it, seniors?'

Saying this, Bai Qing picked up Fang Qiu's incredibly messy manuscript.

'Uh, no thanks, no thanks. Let's not talk about that. We haven't had a meal together in a long time. How about we go to Wanmin Restaurant tonight?'

The female editors all flinched and stepped back.

That messy handwriting—one look and you knew it was Xingqiu's novel.

When they shared the workload with Bai Qing in the past, they had also read Xingqiu's novels.

It would be one thing if the handwriting was just messy like chicken scratch, but the content quality was also poor.

Now that Bai Qing said this, they just assumed Bai Qing was joking.

'Alright then.'

Bai Qing smiled and didn't force them to look at the manuscript.

When this book was published, they would naturally see it.

'By the way, when you went to listen to the opera, did you see that consultant from Wangsheng Funeral Parlor?'

'Don't mention it. Mr. Zhongli was focused on the opera the whole time and didn't even spare us a glance.'

'But speaking of which, Mr. Zhongli really has a profound aura. Sometimes I wonder if Rex Lapis must be just like him.'

'Look at you, totally love-struck. Today you dare compare Mr. Zhongli to Rex Lapis; who knows what you'll dare to do tomorrow? Don't embarrass yourself in front of the junior.'

'I'm just being reasonable. Though, current authors are too disappointing. Why doesn't anyone write a book with Mr. Zhongli as the prototype?'
