Chapter 104 – The Island That Lost Everything in One Afternoon

Thanks to Nojiko's barriers, the remaining stragglers didn't last long.

Kuina, Tashigi, and Nojiko mowed them down like wheat.

The whole process took less than ten minutes.

Whiskey Peak fell deathly silent.

If an outsider sailed in right now, the blood-soaked ground and mountain of corpses would send them screaming back out to sea.

Even the three executioners looked pale.

Treating human life like grass was a first for all of them.

This was Aike's first official Grand Line lesson for the crew.

Hinata was still too soft for mass slaughter, so the moment the killing started, Aike covered her eyes and sealed her five senses, replacing reality with a gentle illusion.

Yakumo, on the other hand—who once tried to murder Kurenai—was made of sterner stuff. Her mental tolerance might even surpass Nami's.

Aike held her to a higher standard.

"Carina, cleanup duty. We're staying the night."

"…Got it."

Carina rolled her eyes but swung her arm anyway.

A massive gust swept every corpse, every drop of blood, and even the stench straight into a nearby ravine.

Another wave of her hand buried it all under dirt and rubble.

"Show us where the food is stored."

Aike turned to Igaram.

The tone left no room for argument.

Igaram obediently led the way.

Vivi followed nervously behind the group.

......

Main Baroque Works hideout.

The second they stepped inside, Nami and Carina's treasure-hunting instincts activated.

The result?

Under two million beli total.

Less than a fifth of their personal stashes.

"That's it?"

"The island's treasure gets sent up the chain regularly," Vivi explained nervously, swallowing hard. "What's left is just operating funds."

Nami waved it off.

"Just saying. Mosquito meat is still meat."

She and Carina stripped the place clean anyway.

Vivi internally bled.

Gone. Everything gone.

They didn't even have boat fare back to Alabasta now.

And that was just the beginning of her despair.

The island's food stores suffered the same fate.

Aike decided to spend the night and throw a proper welcome party for Yakumo, Hinata, Doyu, and Guren.

Tom was put in charge of cooking.

Eleven crew + two "guides" = too much for one cat.

Doyu and Guren were drafted as kitchen assistants.

Kuina and Tashigi, fresh from their massacre, picked rooms to clean and catalogue their new swords.

The main hall was left to Aike, Izumi, Hikari, Yakumo, and Hinata.

To kill time, Aike turned to the two newest members.

"Yakumo, Hinata."

"After a full day at sea, how's pirate life treating you? Getting used to it?"

Yakumo, the more outgoing one, answered first.

"It's wonderful, Teacher Aike."

Respect mixed with barely contained joy.

"I've seen scenery I never imagined. I can paint anything I want."
