Chapter 42 - Deceiving You into Bed

Zhi Yan turned away from him, her voice trembling slightly. "You don't need to say anything more. Go find my sister tomorrow and tell her to make way for you. If she doesn't even have that much courage, how does she expect to get revenge, and how can she be with you? If something happens to her, at least she has her man to support her. You can't afford to have anything happen to you. If something happens to you, we won't be able to save you openly, no matter how hard we try."

Sun Zhewen's heart warmed. He stepped forward and gently took Zhi Yan's hand. Feeling her slightly trembling fingers, he knew how fragile and scared this seemingly strong girl was on the inside. He whispered, "Zhi Yan, thank you."

Zhi Yan took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice. "Don't thank me. I just want you to be okay. You know, my sister... she really loves you."

Zhewen lowered his head, his expression a little complicated. "Zhi Yan, I'll sleep with you tonight."

Zhi Yan glared at him, the corners of her mouth slightly turning up. "No, I don't want to. It'll be like I'm tricking you into bed."

Zhewen scratched his head, smiling helplessly. "Zhi Yan, you know that's not what I meant. I'm still worried about you."

Zhi Yan looked at the man in front of her, her heart filled with mixed emotions. She reached out and gently touched Zhewen's face, a hint of confusion in her eyes. "Zhewen, don't overthink it. I'm willing to help you because I see that you can help me. You don't need to feel any pressure."

Zhewen sighed, his eyes full of worry. "I'm afraid you'll have nightmares tonight."

Zhi Yan smiled, waving her hand casually. "Come on up. You go take a shower first, you smell terrible." She even exaggeratedly fanned her nose, feigning disgust.

Sun Zhewen shook his head helplessly and turned to walk into the bathroom. The sound of running water filled the air. Zhi Yan lay on the bed, her mind in a chaotic state. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself down.

A little while later, Zhewen came out after his shower, a faint scent of shower gel clinging to him. He gently lay down beside Zhi Yan and reached out to pull her into his arms. Zhi Yan leaned against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, and felt a strange sense of peace.

"I'll go talk to my sister tomorrow," Zhi Yan said softly. "It wouldn't be good for you to go. What if she overthinks things and thinks you want an official position? It's better if I go."

Zhewen frowned slightly, asking with some concern, "What if she doesn't listen to you?"

Zhi Yan huffed, her tone carrying a hint of determination. "Hmph, I've done so much for her. If she doesn't see me, then we won't be sisters anymore."

Zhewen gently patted her back, saying softly, "Alright, let's sleep."

Zhi Yan closed her eyes, feeling Zhewen's warmth, and a sudden wave of warmth welled up inside her. "Zhewen, I really want to be in your arms for the rest of my life. It really feels so comfortable."

Sun Zhewen smiled slightly and whispered, "Silly girl, don't overthink things. Just sleep peacefully."

The night grew deeper, and Zhi Yan drifted off to sleep in Sun Zhewen's arms. In her dreams, she saw the beautiful times she had experienced, the laughter, the tears, and the countless heart-pounding moments, all replaying in her dreams.

The next morning, sunlight streamed into the room through the gap in the curtains, like a mischievous kitten, gently scratching Zhi Yan's cheek. She instinctively reached out to feel beside her, and feeling the cold emptiness, a trace of disappointment welled up in her heart. She slowly opened her eyes and found that Sun Zhewen was no longer in bed.

"Zhewen?" she murmured softly, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

Just then, the door was gently pushed open, and Sun Zhewen walked in, holding a plate of steaming breakfast. He was wearing a simple white T-shirt, and a warm smile was on his face, as if the sunlight had added a touch of gentleness to him.

"Awake? Get up and wash up, then eat breakfast," Sun Zhewen said, his voice gentle and kind, like a warm current that instantly dispelled Zhi Yan's disappointment.

Zhi Yan looked at him in surprise, a look of confusion flashing in her eyes. "You haven't left yet?"

Sun Zhewen smiled, put down the breakfast, and sat down on the bed. "I was afraid you'd wake up without anything to eat, so I went to buy you breakfast."

Zhi Yan felt a warmth in her heart, and the corners of her mouth lifted slightly, revealing a playful smile. "I don't want to get up, you feed me."

Sun Zhewen shook his head helplessly, his eyes full of doting. "Don't you want to wash up?"

"No, I want you to feed me," Zhi Yan said coquettishly, her voice tinged with a bit of willfulness.

Sun Zhewen sighed softly, reached out and helped her sit up, took out a small steamed bun, and gently stuffed it into her mouth. Zhi Yan struggled to chew the bun, a hint of dissatisfaction flashing in her eyes. She glared at him and shouted, "You want to choke me to death!"

Sun Zhewen couldn't help but laugh, reached out and gently patted her back, helping her to breathe smoothly. "Alright, alright, I'll pay attention next time."

The two of them bickered back and forth like this, as if they were a couple in love, but they both knew very well that this warm time was just a fleeting moment.

Sun Zhewen went to work, and Zhi Yan greedily sniffed the scent on the bed. It was his unique scent, with a hint of fresh lemon and a faint tobacco smell. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, as if she could deeply engrave his scent in her heart. She knew that she had to go to work today too, and although she was a little reluctant, life had to go on.

After getting ready, Zhi Yan put on her favorite light blue dress, paired with a pair of white high heels. She smiled slightly at the mirror, feeling that she looked particularly energetic today. She drove to the company, and as soon as she sat down, her phone rang.

"Zhi Yan, come to my office for a moment," Liu Qingfeng's voice commanded over the phone, laced with an undeniable edge.

Zhi Yan sighed inwardly, a sense of reluctance washing over her. Nevertheless, she rose to her feet and headed towards Liu Qingfeng's office. She knew all too well that, despite his outward show of affection, Liu Qingfeng saw her as nothing more than a plaything.

The moment she entered the office, Liu Qingfeng lunged at her like a ravenous wolf. "Oh, I haven't seen my little darling in days, I've missed you so much."

Zhi Yan offered a slight smile and gently pushed him away. "Don't be touchy, someone might walk in and see."

"Hmph, this is my office, no one dares to barge in. Come, let me feel my son," Liu Qingfeng said dismissively, his hand already reaching for her belly.

Zhi Yan's heart sneered, Whose son, really? Your son, indeed. She knew who the child's true father was, a secret only she held.
