Chapter 57 - Juggling Women

The two of them, still embracing, returned to Liu Ruyue's home. Their hearts hammered like frantic drums the whole way, their body heat conveying their desire. The moment they stepped inside, they were like kindling meeting a blaze, kissing with fierce passion. The flames of their emotions threatened to consume them, and the air around them grew thick with heat and intimacy.

Just then, Sun Zhewen's phone, like an ill-timed alarm clock, began to buzz incessantly with message notifications. With a sigh of frustration, Sun Zhewen stopped what he was doing and pulled out his phone. He opened it and found all the messages were from Li Zhiyan.

"Zhewen, when will you be back?"

"Where are you?"

"Talk to me."

"Are you busy?"

"When are you coming back?"

"I can't sleep."

"Zhewen, where did you go?"

Liu Ruyue saw the hesitation and helplessness flash across Sun Zhewen's face. The passion that had just ignited seemed to be extinguished by a bucket of cold water. Her eyes dimmed, and she turned towards the bathroom, saying coldly, "Go back. Heh, your wife is urging you." Her words were laced with a strong sense of jealousy and unconcealed disappointment.

Sun Zhewen said awkwardly, "Maybe something came up?" He tried to explain, but even he felt the reason was too weak.

Liu Ruyue stopped, turned her back to him, and said, "You don't need to tell me anything. Just go." Her voice trembled slightly, and she struggled to suppress the pain within.

Sun Zhewen hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'm going then."

"Mm." Liu Ruyue's reply was concise and cold.

Just as Sun Zhewen was about to open the door, Liu Ruyue suddenly called out, "Zhewen." She pounced on him like a wounded little beast, "I'll bite you, you bastard." Her teeth gently bit into Sun Zhewen's shoulder, tears welling in her eyes. Meanwhile, Sun Zhewen's phone WeChat kept receiving messages.

After an unknown amount of time, the two finally calmed down. On the bed, Liu Ruyue lay in Sun Zhewen's arms, her hair disheveled, but her eyes were filled with tenderness. She whispered, "You should go back, so she doesn't worry." Her voice was filled with helplessness and reluctance.

Sun Zhewen could only nod, saying, "Alright, maybe she really did have something to do."

"You don't need to explain, as long as I understand your heart, that's all that matters." Liu Ruyue forced a smile, but it was filled with bitterness.

Sun Zhewen left Liu Ruyue's house with a complicated feeling. He went back home, moving quietly, afraid of waking Li Zhiyan. He showered first, trying to wash away Liu Ruyue's scent. Then he crept into bed. As soon as he lay down, Li Zhiyan, like a sensitive little cat, snuggled into his arms, saying with a slight coquettish tone, "Where did you go? I was so scared at home alone."

"Nowhere," Sun Zhewen replied perfunctorily.

"Hmph, you definitely went to see that woman again." Li Zhiyan's voice rose a few decibels, filled with obvious dissatisfaction and suspicion.

"Let's sleep," Sun Zhewen didn't want to continue the topic, just wanted to end the argument quickly.

"Zhewen, I'm not feeling good thinking that I have to go to Haicheng tomorrow night," Li Zhiyan's voice softened, tinged with worry.

"Then let's not go, okay?" Sun Zhewen comforted her.

"Can we not go now? It's late already. If we don't go now, won't we be blatantly offending him?" Li Zhiyan's tone was filled with helplessness and anxiety.

"Who exactly is he?" Sun Zhewen couldn't help but ask, full of curiosity about the person hiding behind the scenes.

"Zhewen, you're not in a position to know right now. I'll tell you later," Li Zhiyan avoided his gaze, as if she had something difficult to say.

Sun Zhewen frowned and said, "Why can't you tell me now? Don't I even have the right to know?"

Li Zhiyan sighed and said, "It's not that I don't want you to know, it's just that the time isn't right. Telling you now will only bring you trouble."

Sun Zhewen said with dissatisfaction, "Then if you always keep things from me like this, how can I feel at ease?"

Li Zhiyan hugged Sun Zhewen and said, "Darling, trust me. When the time is right, I will definitely tell you."

Sun Zhewen was silent for a moment and then said, "Alright, I hope you won't make me wait too long."

Li Zhiyan nodded and said, "Mm, go to sleep. We have a lot to do tomorrow."

However, Sun Zhewen lay in bed, unable to fall asleep for a long time. Liu Ruyue's sorrowful eyes and Li Zhiyan's mysterious words kept flashing in his mind. He didn't know where his future was headed, and his heart was filled with confusion and unease.

The next morning, when he went downstairs, he saw Li Zhiyan's figure busy in the kitchen. Her figure appeared somewhat hazy in the kitchen light. Sun Zhewen just watched quietly, his heart filled with mixed feelings.

"You're up? Go wash up and get ready for breakfast," Li Zhiyan said with a smile, turning her head. Her face was filled with a gentle smile, but that smile couldn't dispel the gloom in Sun Zhewen's heart.

Sun Zhewen responded, his voice carrying a hint of laziness and confusion, and then walked into the bathroom. At breakfast, the table was laden with a sumptuous spread, but the two of them sat in silence. Sun Zhewen tried several times to break the oppressive silence, but when the words reached his lips, he didn't know where to begin. Every time he looked up at Li Zhiyan, wanting to say something, he lost his courage in her calm gaze.

Li Zhiyan seemed to see through his thoughts and broke the silence first, saying, "Don't think too much. When I come back from Haicheng, we'll talk properly." Her voice was soft.

Sun Zhewen nodded and said, "Okay, be careful in Haicheng." His voice was a little low, and his eyes were filled with concern.

Li Zhiyan smiled, and her smile seemed to contain a thousand words, saying, "After work this afternoon, come back and pick me up directly."

After finishing breakfast, Li Zhiyan started packing her luggage. Sun Zhewen sat on the sofa, his gaze drifting as he watched her busy figure, his heart filled with turmoil.

A WeChat message from Liu Ruyue arrived: "Honey, did you eat breakfast? Do you want me to bring you some?" She also sent some photos, indicating she'd already bought some.

Sun Zhewen replied, "I've already eaten."

"Ugh, I'm so annoyed. It's the first time I've bought you breakfast today, and you've already eaten."

"Well, how about this, I'll eat it when I get there, okay?"

"Aren't you afraid of getting stuffed?"

"I'm more afraid of making you sad."

"You smooth talker. Alright, come to my office later."

"Mmhmm."
