Amelia's POV
The full moon ceremony was finally here, the only night I got to spend gazing at the handsome face of Alpha Leo.
Dressed in a champagne colored dress that hugged and accentuated my curves, I smiled confidently, knowing I would be the most beautiful one at the ceremony. However, my smile faded with the presence of the blind wolf.
A surge of jealousy burned through me, and I instinctively clenched my fists in anger. How could she dress so casually yet still look beautiful?
There was no better way to get back at her than to make her feel what she couldn't see.
Glancing back at Leo, whose brows were creased in confusion, A sinister smile crept to my lips, and I turned to stare wistfully at Selene as she made her way upstairs.
"You have no idea what I've got for you," I mumbled inwardly flipping my hair backwards.
"Amelia ," Leo called out as he stood beside me. Staring softly at his silver eyes and perfectly carved brows, I felt their warmth. This was my perfect man, the one I want. Even though there wasn't a mate bond between us, I won't relent until the moon goddess creates a bond.
I don't care how it's going to happen but Leo ? He will definitely mine.
"Are you okay?" His voice, soothing, filled my ears and I found myself nodding slowly.
"Uhmm, yes, I am." I paused, thinking of a way to lure him upstairs with me, "I have a painting, I need your honest review on it." I started and his gaze softened.
"You know how much I love your paintings, where is it?"
"Upstairs. Shall we go check it out?" I questioned, pointing towards the stairs.
"Sure.," He replied, pocketing his hands.
We climbed the stairs slowly and got to the hallway. My eyes lingered towards the granny room and I bit my lips in desperation. That blind girl wasn't out yet. What could she be discussing with granny?
"I thought your room was this way?" Leo said, snapping me out of my thoughts, and I blinked slowly, unsure of what to say.
Just as I was about to speak, I heard granny's room door creak slightly and I smiled triumphantly. Taking his hands, I placed them on my waist and immediately slammed my lips on his, kissing him passionately.
Leo's grip on my waist tightened as he drew me closer to his embrace, taking dominance of my lips. Goya, my wolf, howled in excitement as she encouraged me to bask in the pleasure of our soon-to-be mate.
Moaning and making smacking sounds loud enough for Selene to hear, I trailed my fingers through Leo's hair eliciting a growl from him.
Flickering my eyes open, I found Selene standing at a corner with tears in her eyes. Too bad she couldn't see how passionately her dear Alpha mate was eating me up.
Like a jolt, he snapped back and shoved me away, panting heavily. I stared at him in surprise, quickly directing my gaze to where I had seen Selene earlier but she was no longer there. I sighed in relief and averted my gaze back to Leo .
"Look, Amelia, we both have families now. This…isn't right," he mumbled, trying to catch his breath as he wiped my lipstick stains off his lips.
I felt my heart dip at his actions. Wiping my kiss off his lips because of his blind mate?
Taking a deep breath, I opened my mouth to speak, to tell him there was no need to hide anymore but he interrupted. "I'm sorry Amelia ."
Goya whimpered in my head, asking me to let her take over so she can fix this.
Bowing my head slowly, I fiddled with my fingers. "I don't know what came over me. My relationship has been rocky lately. Don't worry, I won't do this again. Selene won't suspect a thing. I'll go," I croaked out in mock pretense.
Without waiting for his reply, I turned back and left the room.
I wasn't entirely disappointed. At least I had achieved my aim, Selene had seen us kiss, and that was enough to lift my mood.
Just as I took a turn, I spotted the loser taking the stairs toward the ground floor. I rushed over and grabbed her arms forcefully.
"Did you like the sound of that? Me and your mate?"
The color drained from her face and her inactive eyes widened in shock.
Chuckling at her expression, I mustered the wit to say more. Glancing quickly from left to right, I dragged her a few steps up the stairs to avoid any of the maids eavesdropping.
"You... you did that on purpose?" Selene stuttered, struggling to grasp her fidgeting cane.
Leaning closer toward her, I whispered, "I'm going to take everything, your father, your mother, your brother, your fiancé, and especially your beloved mate," I emphasized the last words with determination.
My face twisted slightly, and a triumphant smile crept onto my lips as I continued, "I want you to know that all the hard work you put into getting everything you own, I can snatch them away just like that. You'll always be trash beneath me," I said, snapping my fingers at her as I chuckled loudly.
She gritted her teeth in rage, a low growl escaping her lips as she stared at an empty space.
"You… you'll pay for this."
She suddenly raised her hands to strike me, but I was swift enough to avoid it. But that swiftness caused me to lose my footing, and I rolled down the stairs.
"Seleneee!" I yelled in pain, trying to attract the attention of everyone.
Everyone rushed toward me, fussing over my injured knee when suddenly a loud sound filled the room. I turned my eyes toward the direction to see that Leo had slapped Selene.
She had fallen to the ground with tears shining brightly in her eyes. Leo's gaze remained cold, his silver eyes had become grey in anger, his chest rammed in and out as he glared down at Selene .
"Are you out of your mind? How dare you!" He thundered loudly, his face reflecting the degree of his rage.
"I always knew you hated Amelia, but pushing her down the stairs? That's monstrous, unworthy of your title as the Luna of this pack!"
My mouth was slightly ajar in shock. I couldn't believe he'd stood against Selene after how he scolded me a while ago. Was this the sign?
Oh, dear moon goddess? A lowly wolf like me is thankful for granting her heart's desires.
I just have to lie on this floor and wait for my Alpha charming to pick me up in his arms, another pain to Selene's wounds.
From the corner of my eye, I watched Selene rise slowly to her feet. A bitter smile etched on her face as she held her cane.
"What if I told you I didn't push her would you believe me?" She questioned softly and I swallowed hard in doubt.
Damn this cursed soul, why does she want to make things difficult for me?
I needed to act fast.
Without wasting much time, I howled loudly in pain, "My leg, oh I'm in so much pain."
Without wasting any more time, Leo sprinted down the stairs and scooped me up in his strong arms. Finally, I was in the arms of my Alpha mate. A giggle almost escaped my lips, but I held it in, burying my face in his chest, as I inhaled his scent deeply.
Oh, I can't wait to do this every day.
"What happened to my precious girl?" Mom's erring voice filled the room as she rushed to the scene.
"What happened?" Neil likewise came over and they gathered around me.
"Mom, " I mumbled weakly as I grasped my mother's hand, " I'm okay, don't blame Selene. She didn't do this on purpose."
Mother's eyes snapped towards Selene like daggers and just before she could speak, Neil lunged forward and punched Selene in the ribs.
I quickly averted my gaze to Alpha Leo but he didn't flinch at what Neil did, his cold gaze still fixed on Selene.
Neil's face twisted with rage. "Mom was right, you're an ungrateful snake! Ever since Amelia returned, you've done nothing but to always try to hurt her. Why didn't that accident just kill you instead of only taking your eyes?"
Selene sank to the floor, one hand on the cold ground, the other clutching her stomach.
Leo's soft gaze finally settled back on me. "Let's take you to the pack clinic," he mumbled softly, walking hastily out of the house. Others followed behind, and Mom kept cursing Selene as we made our way to the pack clinic.
At the clinic, the doctors found only minor bruises on my body. Luckily I had suffered no serious injuries.
"I'm fine now, Mom, can we go home?" I questioned after the doctor left.
"No, what if something happens later? I can't risk losing you again. We'd stay overnight here," Mom said and I sighed heavily.
"Yes, your mom is right, I'd consult some more specialists to be sure you're okay. I'll be back." Alpha Leo mumbled before dashing out of the room.
Neil groaned slowly as he sliced the fruit absentmindedly. "That ungrateful wolf! How could she be so cruel? She tried to kill Amelia. I should call our Gammas."
Gammas? No way in hell would I ruin my reputation over Selene.
"Don't, Neil. We're family. There's no need to go that far. Let's forgive Selene," I uttered immediately.
"She bears our name, but if this scandal gets out, it will ruin our clan," Mother said, with a cold voice. "Still she'll pay for hurting my daughter. She needs to learn her lesson."
Letting out a deep cough, I pleaded. "Mom, Neil, please, let's let it go. I understand Selene feels threatened, thinks I'm here to take your love away. But I just want to belong. Given time, she'll see I'm sincere
Neil scoffed, "She's a venomous wolf, born bad… a complete rogue. Amelia, you're too kind. That's why she keeps hurting you."
Just then, Leo returned and my gaze lit up in excitement
"Alpha Leo …"
He placed down the test report, his eyes full of concern. "Still hurts?"
I was feeling all giddy inwardly, Leo was gradually becoming mine, but I needed to win him completely, and the best way to start was by turning Selene against him.
Smiling brightly, I replied, " It doesn't hurt as much. Please don't quarrel with Selene once we get home. I don't think she meant to push me."
A frown rested on Leo's face as he stared silently at me. I wondered what was going through his mind but I knew for sure it had to do with Selene.
Leo finally broke his silence as he grunted, his face gradually darkening as he held my wrist tightly.
"I promise you justice, Amelia. I'm going to punish Selene in front of the pack members."
