Chapter 30: No Need For Assistance

He approached Ginny, who was still covering her face with her book. "Sorry about that. Are you okay?"

"H-Harry? What happened?" She looked very confused right now. "I saw something fall on the ground."

One moment she was arguing with Malfoy, and the next one there was some kind of explosion, and now Harry was standing in front of her.

"I made a small miscalculation with the landing," Harry said.

"Small?" V scoffed. "You sent those two boys flying."

"Potter!" Draco Malfoy stood up from the ground and quickly found the culprit.

Harry turned around just in time to see the two boys approaching with very angry expressions.

"Draco Malfoy," he said. He felt kinda proud for still remembering this one, but when glancing at the other person, he had no clue.

It was a tall, black-skinned boy with a pair of unnatural yellow eyes. Like Draco, he wore the Slytherin uniform, and he appeared to be the same age.

'Those eyes… must be a Zabini,' the hat whispered to him.

Harry did know the names of every old wizard family in the country, so he recognized that one.

The yellow eyes were a family trait of theirs, and some people seemed to believe that they had a special affinity for mind-altering magic.

"You are a Zabini then," Harry said.

"Blaise Zabini," the boy responded. And w—"

"Hey!" Draco interrupted them. "I was the one talking first." He shouted, feeling ignored, which had just served to make him angrier.

"Potter, how dare you attack me!"

"That wasn't really an attack…" Harry muttered. He had just landed with a bit of force. Why were they trying to make a big deal of it?

"Huh? What would you call this?" Draco pointed at his robes. They were torn on one side, revealing the clothes beneath.

"Sod off, Draco," Ginny intervened. "You were the one who decided to come here to annoy me. Now don't complain because your precious robes were damaged."

"These robes cost more than your house, Weasley," Dracon pointed out with a cruel smirk on his face.

Ginny was fuming now. She dropped the book and got closer to the blonde Slytherin student.

"Your family is only rich because your father is a corrupt politician. You may want to stop bragging about it so much."

"Blood-traitor bitch!" Malfoy went to pull his wand out. "I'll teach you some mann— ouffff!"

Before Draco managed to fetch the wand, Ginny had already punched him with enough force to make him trip and fall.

"Nice one!" V cheered for her. "The blonde prick deserved it."

Zabini stood there in shock for a few seconds before finally reacting and going to help Draco stand up.

The Malfoy heir now had a broken lip and was trying to hide the tears forming in his eyes.

"You are going to regret this, Weasley!" After shouting this, he turned around and went away at a brisk pace, with Zabini right behind him.

"Well… looks like you didn't need my help this time," Harry said.

"Ouch!" Once Malfoy was a good distance away, Ginny dropped the façade of bravery and grasped her hand with a pained expression.

"You got hurt? Let me see." Harry approached the girl.

"It's fine… just aches a bit," Ginny said. "That brat has a hard face."

"Everyone has a hard jaw. That's how bones work," V commented, earning a glare from Ginny.

"Harry, is your hat making fun of me?" Ginny asked.

"Don't mind V. He is always doing that. Now show me your hand."

Ginny relented, and Harry examined it for a moment. "Mmm… it's not broken, just a bit bruised." He waved his wand over the injured hand, and a soft white light appeared.

Ginny gasped at the immediate sensation of relief. "Whoa… not even Madam Pomfrey is that quick to heal! When did you learn how to do this?"

"A while ago," Harry responded. He used to get hurt a lot, and there was no one to heal him in the frozen world, so he had to learn how to do it himself.

"There… It's done."

Ginny flexed her fingers and looked surprised. "It doesn't hurt at all! Wow, you are good at this. Are you planning on becoming a healer?"

"Ehm… no." He never thought about becoming anything in particular. He just learned as much as he could about everything.

"Thank you for the save, Harry." Ginny offered him a warm smile. "It's the second time you've done it in two days. At this rate, I'm going to become dependent on you."

Harry looked away, feeling a bit embarrassed. "So… what did Malfoy want?"

Ginny raised an eyebrow. "You know… the usual crap. He was angry with us because we caused Mrs. Umbridge to be fired and ruined his Inquisitor little club."

"Mrs. Umbridge?" Harry sounded confused for a moment, until he realized she must have been one of the people he had chosen to forget.

There were many gaps in his memories at this point.

"Yes, Mrs. Umbridge, you know? The professor who made our lives miserable this year? The one who gave you this scar on your hand…"

Ginny grabbed Harry's right hand and looked at the back, only to realize there was nothing there.

"Wait, where is the scar she gave you? The one with the blood quill?"

"Ah, that. I was able to heal it away," Harry improvised, pretending that he knew what she was talking about.

He had no recollection of a scar on his hand, meaning that he must have lost it a long time ago, while trapped in that world. And he had a good idea as to why he no longer had it.

Harry had been trying to bury the unpleasant memories from the events that occurred during his darkest era, but for some reason, he is unable to get rid of them. They just keep resurfacing again and again.

This was definitely not something he wanted to speak with anyone about right now.

Ginny stared at him for a moment before accepting the explanation. With the healing skills Harry had already demonstrated, removing a scar was not too hard to believe.

"Good for you. You did not deserve to have your body marked by that woman."

Ginny then seemed to realize something. "Right, now that the ugly toad is gone, you may want to speak with Professor McGonagall and get your broom back."

"S-sure." Harry no longer had any need for brooms to fly, but Ginny didn't seem to realize this just yet, as she hadn't seen how he had arrived in the courtyard.

"I know! Why don't I accompany you?" Ginny picked up her book from the ground and grabbed his hand.

"Come on. I wasn't going to read after this anyway."

Harry let the girl guide him back into the castle.
