Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

The birth went remarkably well; Aya pushed for about fifteen minutes until the baby's head appeared. Kenshin, seeing the baby's head, got scared again and froze for a few seconds, not knowing what to do. But then he pulled himself together and began carefully pulling the child out.

A few minutes later Kenshin was already holding the baby in his arms, who silently looked at him with his small blue eyes.

"Aya, look how handsome he is. Here, baby Ichiro, go to mommy," Kenshin whispered and handed him over.

"Oh god, how cute he is!" Aya said happily, taking the boy in her arms. The/Main blue-eyed baby looked at Aya and began to cry loudly, squinting his eyes toward Kenshin.

"Be a good boy, don't cry. This is your mommy after all," Kenshin said with a smile and leaned down to lightly kiss his son on the forehead.

The baby, as if hearing Kenshin's words, instantly fell silent and looked at mommy.

Aya pressed her son to her and tenderly kissed him: "How beautiful you are, oh god… My baby Ichiro, you'll grow up and become a strong shinobi!" Aya declared enthusiastically, then shifted her gaze to Kenshin and added: "You know, I always fell asleep to grandfather's stories about his father, my great-grandfather. I imagined that all his made-up stories were true, and I was the great-granddaughter of a descendant of the great Uchiha clan!"

Hearing Aya's last words, the smile froze on Kenshin's face, and he suddenly asked: "What stories? Uchiha clan?.."

"Ah, it's just the ravings of an old drunkard. As a child I believed every word with admiration, but now I understand that my great-grandfather couldn't have been the son of the Uchiha clan, whom his parents supposedly abandoned in an ordinary village, hiding from a terrible pursuit. Great-grandfather always told this incredible story until real Uchiha clan members heard it. They beat him cruelly, breaking several ribs. After that incident my great-grandfather stopped telling this story to everyone, but told it to my grandfather, and grandfather told me.

"Yeah, you can't envy your great-grandfather…" the young man sighed half-disappointedly, realising he had gotten excited too early.

"Ichiro, baby, are you hungry?" Aya asked in a tender tone and brought him to her breast. The boy, as if on command, latched onto her right breast and silently began to eat.

Meanwhile Kenshin decided not to disturb them and left the room. Three hours later the young father blinked in surprise when Aya came out of the bedroom as if nothing had happened. Her belly was flat again, without a single stretch mark or sagging, and her vagina was narrow and firm again.

"No way! The system really went all out—no other explanation!" the young man thought enthusiastically and hugged Aya, looking at his first son.

Suddenly an idea came to Kenshin's mind; looking at the baby he mentally whispered "Status", and a small summary popped up before him:

Name: Nakayama Ichiro

Age: 62 days

Talent Level: 16

Expected Development Rank: Genin

Chances of Further Achievements:

Chunin — 40%

Jonin — 1%

Kage — 0.001%

****

"What? 62 days? Hm, perhaps the system counts by the child's accelerated development time…"

After carefully reading the description of each point, Kenshin understood that the system had adapted to the ranks of this world and evaluated talent from the point of view of achievements in chakra control.

"Hm, so talent level is an indicator of future shinobi achievements. Ichiro's figure is 16, meaning his expected development is peak genin with possible achievement of chunin rank… Hm, if the figure were 20, he could reach chunin level without much trouble…" Kenshin thought, evaluating future prospects.

"Ichiro, look how much daddy loves you, he can't take his eyes off you, right, Kenshin?" Aya asked with a cheerful smile and began cooing with the baby, kissing him and giving maternal tenderness.

"Mm-hm… Ichiro, grow up quickly, daddy needs a helper!" Kenshin said with a laugh and hugged his wife and son.

"Don't listen to him, baby. Daddy's joking. Grow as long as you want, mommy will take care of you!" Aya declared, unable to get enough of becoming a mother.

The next few hours passed unnoticed; the baby either slept or ate but didn't cry and often looked toward his father. Aya and Kenshin had dinner and went to sleep. Because of the soiled bed in the bedroom, the girl and child used the bed in the "guest" room, and Kenshin had to make do with one of the four beds in the "barracks". But he didn't complain and perfectly understood that the first night mother and child should rest properly.

Waking up in the morning, Kenshin couldn't believe he had become a father. He got out of bed and found Aya sitting at the kitchen table with the baby in front of her, cheerfully playing with him. Ichiro laughed loudly and played with mommy, not caring about anything.

Seeing Kenshin, Aya said: "Oh, good morning. Look, our baby already has teeth! I can't believe how fast he's growing."

Kenshin noted that the baby had indeed become much larger overnight and couldn't help but wonder where the growing organism got energy from. Deciding it was another mystery of the "system" he discarded these useless thoughts and kissed the girl and baby.

"Well, bandit, growing?" Kenshin asked his first son with a smile.

The baby didn't answer and only squealed happily, reaching both hands toward Kenshin, asking to be picked up. The young father took his son in his arms and played with him for about ten minutes, spinning him around the kitchen to the baby's ringing laughter and the girl's tender gaze.

The rest of the day passed quite routinely. Aya fussed with the baby, and Kenshin trained in the gym, caught four live rabbits, specifically making changes to the formation which now forced rabbits to jump into the snare at a certain angle and get caught by their hind legs.

After lunch the young man rested a bit, waiting out the heat, spending time with his wife and child. In the evening Kenshin went berry picking and spent about an hour gathering the local analogue of blackberries he knew. Then the young man went to the river and took several fish from the artificial cage, throwing some boiled grain to the rest. Then he headed home.
