The last few days have been more than awkward. That is not even a strong enough word. It has been three days. Three whole days, and Anderson is still leaving for school way earlier than normal. At home, we only talk when we have to. The words are so careful, so polite it makes my skin crawl. And at rehearsal? He hardly even looks at me. It is driving me crazy.
Everything is just the same thing over and over. Jade is out of her weird mood, so she is driving me again. What happened in her room that day is just ours. A secret. After practice, I get a ride with Rose. She always asks the same thing. "Is everything okay with your stepbrother? He did not say one word to you today." And I always roll my eyes and say yes, everything is fine.
Right now, I need to think about chemistry. I need to listen to Mr. Andy. But I have not heard a word since he walked in with that stack of papers. We had a quiz last week. I did not have much time to study. I was hoping maybe, just maybe, I got a C.
