I spoke with calm authority, "The child acted without intention. I'm willing to pay three times the amount for the broken item, but forcing a mute child to apologize—don't you think that's crossing the line?"
My words drew curious stares toward the child. The online whispers were apparently true—the young master of The Nelson Family, despite his striking looks, was indeed mute!
I noticed Whitney and Kathrine, that scheming mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo, barely containing their glee as they absorbed the surrounding chatter. My statement had just confirmed Joseph's condition, and now everyone knew. Soon, all of Aurelia City would hear about it.
