Leonardo's POV
"Nothing much."
I hadn't expected Veronica to show up so suddenly, and uneasiness crept through me. A quick gesture sent Tony the message to keep going with what we'd started. He caught my meaning and slipped out to gather those hair samples.
Until I knew for certain who Veronica really was, keeping my distance seemed smart. The last thing I needed was her throwing me off track, so I slid my sunglasses on fast.
"So you're after a divorce now? Just caught wind of that," she said, her tone carrying an edge.
Veronica wasn't one to beg or grovel. Her response came steady and cool. "If you think you're recovered enough, we could handle the divorce tomorrow."
The way she said it so matter-of-factly made me wonder if she was itching to dump me and chase after some younger guy. That thought stirred something uncomfortable in my chest.
"Tomorrow wasn't what I had in mind. Sure, my legs are working again, but my vision's still not a hundred percent."
