Ezekiel's POV
The moment those words escaped my lips, I knew I had messed up completely.
"Watch out for the doorway. Wouldn't want those thick thighs to get wedged in there."
It was supposed to be just another one of our usual exchanges. Another round in the endless sparring match between Ximena Garcia and me. Something to get her blood boiling, to watch those dark eyes flash with the anger I found myself craving more than I should.
But the second I saw her face go rigid, watched the color drain from her cheeks before flooding back in a wave of humiliation, saw her knuckles turn white around her textbooks, I realized I had shattered something I couldn't put back together.
And instead of doing the decent thing and backing down, I made it worse. I let that cocky smirk spread across my face. I shrugged it off like it meant nothing. I let my teammates snicker and high-five me.
