Ko's eyes flutter open, greeted by the sight of his best friend, Koshi, leaning over him. A warm smile spreads across his face as he acknowledges her presence. Koshi playfully prods him, urging him to rise from his slumber and start the day.
Koshi is a curvy young female. Her hair and eyes are striking red, the hairstyle she favors is the twin-tails each at shoulder length.
Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, ko's senses sharpen as he searches for his attire. Without her he wouldn't even have woken this early. Hastily, he dons his clothes, each movement purposeful and efficient.
As he emerges from his home with Koshi, Ko is met with the vibrant world outside. The kingdom is bustling with activity, as the sun's rays paint everything in a golden glow.
Ko's attention is recaptured by Koshi, he smiles a bit embarrassed he got distracted. Koshi gestures towards the distant building where they'll be heading for a meeting with someone special. Without a hint of hesitation he follows his friend to the unknown.
As they approach the towering building, Ko's gaze wanders, captivated by as per usual of the sights and sounds of their surroundings. The bustling streets, adorned with colorful banners and lively market stalls.
She understands that Ko's curious nature is an inherent part of who he is, and she finds it endearing. His wide eyed fascination with the world around him is a constant source of joy for Koshi, reminding her of the innocence and wonder that resides within him. She cherishes these moments, knowing that they make their adventures all the more special.
As they navigate through the crowded streets, Koshi keeps a watchful eye on Ko, ensuring he doesn't stray too far off course. She gently guides him, a beacon of reassurance in his ever curious journey, in her presence, Ko feels a sense of grounding, knowing that no matter how lost he may become surroundings, Koshi will always be there to guide him back.
They finally reach the administrator's building, a massive and imposing door opens, granting them passage. The sight that greeted them within was nothing short of breathtaking. The spacious and beautiful light blue marble hallway greets them. Every step they took sends a gentle echo throughout.
The hallway seemed to stretch on endlessly, adorned with intricate tapestries and ornate statues that whispered stories of ages past. Their eyes darted around, trying to absorb every detail, every hint of the mysteries that lay hidden within these walls.
Soon they came upon a door, Koshi knocked first, then pushed it open, and allowed Ko to enter first. Entering Koshi's greeted by two faces sitting around a slick round table, one familiar and the other she'd only heard of.
The man's penetrating gaze followed Ko's every move, his curiosity piqued by the young man's presence. Meanwhile, the woman approached Ko with open arms, enveloping him in a warm embrace. A tinge of embarrassment colored Ko's cheeks as he greeted her with a shy smile.
"Ah, hello there, Niao," Ko murmured, his voice betraying a mixture of surprise and affection.
"Hello, darling," Niao whispered, her tone smoothing and loving. She flashed Koshi a glance, a sly smirk on her face.
Niao, having satisfied her desire to express her fondness, gracefully returned to her seat, her actions speaking louder than words despite her trying to hide most of her feelings.
Niao is a woman of elegance. Having glossy short ash brown hair, with her eyes boasting the same color. Her long black gown, expressing the very timid yet curvy nature of her body.
Koshi sat there, expression blank, and eyes wide open, at the sight of what she just saw. "Oh, sweet Niao," Koshi thought sarcastically, shaking her head, feeling jealousy creeping in.
Niao could see through Koshi's facade like glass, admittedly finding her stoicism quite amusing and as per usual entertaining.
Koshi turned away trying to escape Niao's gaze. "What's with her staring?" She asked herself, pouting.
Ko nervously glanced at both girls, sensing tension. He didn't think there would be this much pouting from her. "Hmm. She could've refused the offer."
Just a few days ago, Koshi and Ko triumphantly walked their way to the exit of a dungeon, noted for its formidable beasts that lived in it and with minimal effort they cleared it.
Coming up and their exit, a body of a brown Werewolf laid there apparently dead. Koshi and Ko get on their guard, this tactic for this breed becoming ubiquitous lately.
They could already decipher that it's the tallest and most agile Werewolf.
Koshi narrowed her eyes, a devilish grin spread across her face. "If I get close enough, it'll pounce at me. A lot faster than a man on two legs…"
They quietly stared at the creature for a moment. Koshi in particular is thinking of an interesting way she can play this out. They've already beaten quite a number of them up front, so she wants to make this encounter different.
Koshi glanced over at Ko, flashing him a mischievous grin. She whispered something in his ear and turned her attention to the Werewolf, confidence in her stride.
She kneeled down before the creature, her eyes flashing sudden surprise. Turning back to address Ko… The Werewolf pounced at her, knocking her to the ground.
Ko reacts promptly, unsheathing his sword. He leaps into the air, taking a swing to sever the monster's head, only for it to deflect him with its claws.
The Werewolf snarled, a sense of absolute strength and dominance in its eyes. It held its head high, and howled.
Koshi grinned, pointing her finger at the distracted beast. She snapped said fingers, and the head of the Werewolf was blown off the wolf's body.
Ko breathed a deep sigh of relief, not really getting the kick or any excitement out of it. A totally different contrast to Koshi who had a beaming smile, as she got up off the ground.
Koshi faced Ko. "See…" She said, waving and enthusiastically moving her body to prove that she's completely unharmed.
Ko's switch from a flushed red face, to a confused one. Prompt Koshi to stop the suggestive swaying of her body.
A faint snicker reverberated off the walls. "Quite suggestive," A female voice said, a tinge of amusement following along with her words.
Koshi turned to the cave entrance, the woman's presence confusing. She rested her hands on her hips, "And what do you care?" Koshi asked, trying to cover the embarrassment with anger.
The woman stared into Koshi's eyes, unblinking a strange look of seriousness. She smirked and covered her mouth. "Embarrassed?" She abruptly asked amused, seeing through Koshi's facade.
"No, I'm not!" Koshi shouted, on the brink bursting with rage. "Doesn't matter. What matters is, who are you?!" She pointed at the woman, deflecting the question.
The woman smiled from ear to ear. "I'm Niao, advisor of the Administrator," She proudly proclaimed, a hand held on her chest.
Koshi's face softened immediately. She folded her arms, a stoic expression on her face. "Hm. So… What do you want?"
"You've caught the Administrator's interest. You know the building, if interested…" Niao replied, giving a simple yet firm reason for her presence.
Ko snapped back to the meeting at hand. He rubbed the back of his head. "If we're gonna work together… Then we're gonna have to at least like each other… A bit," Ko thought, flashing both females nervous looks.
With an annoyed sigh, Koshi took her seat, a bit grumpy, she'll be going through the meeting with Niao.
Wanting to get the meeting going, Koshi spoke. "Administrator sir, thank you for taking interest in me," She said in a submissive tone, to show respect to the Administrator's authority. "Though if I may ask, why me?"
The Administrator held up a finger. "Potential," He replied, his voice carrying significant weight. "I saw something that warranted my attention."
A sense of joy is set ablaze inside Koshi, "Me?" She thought, maintaining her composure on the outside. "He can't be wrong, especially if it's coming from someone of his status." She smirked, the word "Potential" repeating over and over again in her head.
"I'm in search of a Demon King, Koshi," The Administrator said, his voice firm and eyes locked with Koshi's. "Worry not. It matters little if you do not succeed."
The words Demon King shook Koshi, she wasn't expecting such a high demand from the Administrator. "Even with my supposed potential…. How am I…" Her mind raced with questions of doubts, knowing she'll need to dig deep to actually even comprehend being capable of holding such a title.
She forced a small hidden confident smile for herself, planning to confront this with positivity.
The Administrator fidgeted with his fingers, his attention briefly taken away from the meeting at hand, or so it seemed. "I'll have a test prepared tomorrow," He said, his gaze fixed on the table.
"Yes Sir," Koshi confirmed, without hesitation, squeezing in some determination in those two words.
The Administrator's eyes once again meet Koshi's. For a few seconds he stared at them, then nodded, this gesture more so towards himself.
"Dismissed," He said, calling the meeting to a close.
Koshi got up and bowed. Ko followed her gesture. Before stepping out Koshi gave Niao one more glance.
Niao grabbed a hold of Ko's arm, pulling him into a big embrace, wanting to pull the jealousy right out of Koshi. Yet, this embracing of little Ko made her feel quite warm inside.
Niao leaned in slowly. "She's lovely," Niao whispered into Ko's ears. "Remind her, will you?"
Ko paused, surprised by Niao's words. Niao caressed his hair, before sending him off.
Koshi stood outside the meeting room, slightly irritated by Niao. She held her head high, knowing she has the potential for a very serious position, so trivial things like this shouldn't bother her.
The moment Ko left the room, Koshi gave him a hug of her own. A short, yet sweet embrace.
"Sorry you had to endure that… Just remember Niao's trying to take you away from me. So that's not a nice person now are they?" Koshi whispered to Ko in a threatening tone, practically looming over him.
Ko nervously chuckled, giving a tentative, yet bright smile. "Why worry… Y-you're lovely," Ko murmured a quiver in his voice.
Her cheeks turned bright pink. "Of course," She replied, her voice soft. "L-Let's get going," Koshi said, too shy and embarrassed to look Ko in the eye.
On their way out, Ko grew curious about Koshi's emotions on the situation. "Koshi. How are you feeling? About this situation, the previous King… You know."
She clears her throat, the embarrassment she felt, now at ease. "Okay. What I'm getting at is that the Administrator is looking for someone you can take over… since our previous Demon King, his first master's, decisions lend to his downfall. He got into some argument that turned into a brawl…" Koshi sighed.
"But I'm positive that I'd be able to make better decisions. What makes the Demon King's relationship work is…" She paused, looking for an answer in her head.
Ko stared at her, waiting for her to continue about a subject she knows little about.
Koshi cleared her throat again. "So, yeah anyways, from this moment onwards I'm aiming for that title. Sounds difficult, but I'm sure I can do it," She said with a nonchalantly expression on her face, ignoring her slight mishap.
As they reached the exit out of the Administrator's building, they were greeted by the warm glow of the evening sun.
Koshi and Ko feeling that their day is finished, head on back home, taking no time for a night out for themselves as they have a very important test that lies ahead of them tomorrow and they'll need their strength.
Koshi opened the door allowing Ko to enter first, a gesture Ko is yet to repay.
Heading to the bedroom Koshi sighed, her kind racing on what the test could be. Having a feeling that it may be an obvious test of strength.
Ko jumped onto the bed, not so much worried about what tomorrow brings. Koshi smiled and made her way onto the bed, her mind much the opposite of Ko's.
"It's naive… But will everything be okay?" Ko asked, his voice betrayed with a mix of worry.
"I think we'll be just fine. For the two of us, this will be a piece of cake," Koshi lets out a little laugh when she says this, trying to convince herself it'll all be fine.
Ko stared off into the ceiling, unsure how she should feel. He shuts his eyes, thinking maybe something will come up tomorrow morning.
The morning came quicker than imagined, unfortunately for Ko. It just seems to move faster in situations like this or it's just him. Lost in his thoughts, he unintentionally ignored Koshi's morning greeting and went into autopilot mode.
Rightfully so, Koshi didn't like this. She folded her arms, clearly unhappy about Ko's behavior.
Ko shook his head, abruptly got up and walked off, stunning Koshi.
"He's upset?" Koshi murmured, noting Ko's true feelings of the situation are surfacing.
As Ko heads to the bath, Koshi prepares something for them to eat.
Through preparation of the meal, she pondered on ways she could cheer Ko up. She noticed he's taking quite some time and she's already finished preparing the meal.
Checking up on him, she begged if he could hurry a little. Purposefully, in a rare case of defiance, Ko does the opposite of what she asked, leaving the bathe at his own accord.
Koshi bothered not to make a fuss about it, finding the behavior understandable for the situation.
They sat at the table, with an eerie silence between the two. As they started to eat, Koshi glanced at him every so often.
"Okay then, after we're finished, we'll head out. Is that okay with you?" Koshi asked.
Ko nodded, playing with his food. "It's fine—We'll be fine," He murmured. Just audible enough for Koshi to hear.
Koshi gazed at him for a moment, before she responded. "I believe so too," Koshi murmured back.
Their eyes drift from their plates into each other's. Ko broke this eye contact first, attending to his food.
Koshi sighed, seeing this as some sort of win, and continued on to eat.
