Chapter 2 - Useless (Izuku Midoriya Gamer-SI) CH2

-USELESS (IZUKU MIDORIYA GAMER-SI)-

-CHAPTER 2-

-IZUKU MIDORIYA POV-

I fell silent in contemplation.I guess I have no choice but to try and inherit One For All.

Sure, you can say I was 'my' destiny or something but I was honestly thinking about not having to inherit that quirk. Sure the All Might fan boy within me was at cloud-nine just thinking about having the quirk of earth's greatest hero.

-But the logical part inside of me recognized that doing so would put me (and my mom) in immense danger as I will be fated to go against All For One sometime in the future.

And when you think about it… Anyone from UA, like Mirio for example, could take my place. The 9th Holder of One For All didn't need to be Izuku Midoriya…

Sure the toll of inheriting such a powerful quirk alongside their own would probably kill them in their 20s but… at least they would die happy?

"But I guess there's no point in thinking about that…" After the revelation that my growth had a limit, I had no other choice but to try and gain OFA by impressing All Might. It was the easiest and most optimal way of gaining a quirk after all.

My goal was to become a hero and live a long and fulfilling life… and I would go to any lengths to make sure that I achieve it.

And I guess my desire and determination was enough for the system to respond.

[-LONG MISSION-]

[OBJECTIVE-IMPRESS ALL MIGHT AND BECOME HIS SUCCESSOR.]

[REWARDS-REMOVAL OF TITLE {Quirkless}, EPIC SKILL {ONE FOR ALL}, TITLE {9THHOLDER OF ONE FOR ALL}, 10,000 EXP]

A smile spread across my face. "Now this is more like it!"

I rushed past countless people as I ran with all my might towards the gates of Aldera Junior High. Because of the time I had spent thinking on that park bench, I had almost gotten late to school!

Thankfully I had inherited a bunch of memories so I was easily able to find the place and not waste more time.

While I held the memories and knew about most of the things they would teach here from the combined experiences of Izuku and old me, I still had to attend school if I wanted to be a Pro Hero in the future. Marks and attendance were important too after all.

… And Mom would worry if she found out that I left home but didn't attend school. They called the parents if a student was absent after all, so no bunking classes for me in the foreseeable future.

I ducked as I walked past a couple of kids my age-and wasn't that weird to think– playing with a basketball. And quickly got into my class and sat on my seat just as the homeroom teacher entered the class.

For the whole day, I acted just like how I was supposed to. Timid, shy and jumpy. Just like the old me acted.

I really didn't want to get suspicion on me, so my plan was to slowly change my public perception until I could act however I was I reality.

I especially made sure of stay clear of Bakugo… Because that guy was just too troublesome.

I didn't know how far away canon was exactly but I could guess that there was at least a year left until I graduated junior high. This should mean that there was roughly 2 months until I meet All Might.

My rough plan until then was to increase my stats and level up, but since I refused to even consider killing anyone for EXP and the system only randomly generated missions based on some unknown criteria, I had to make use of earning EXP from defeating my opponents.

Now, the best and most efficient way I could think of to gain EXP that way was to join a martial arts dojo. This would provide me with two things. One, it would let me fight other 'opponents' in a safe setting where I could gain EXP after defeating them. And two, it would provide me with the opportunity of learning a fighting style which might be useful in the future.

Of course, I could only do this after school had ended. But there was a lot of time in that.

The bell rung as I, alongside my whole class, stepped onto the track field for our P.E class. As normal, I was just slinking in the back of the group- separated from all of the others.

"Okay class!" Shouts the muscled man with a soldier cut and tan while wearing a light blue tracksuit. This was my P.E teacher, Mr. Motohama. "Today will be a test of your endurance! So we'll be running! Running until our feet fall off! GO!"

Slowly and reluctantly most of the people begin to run around the tracking field. Of course someone like Bakugo- who will never admit defeat to such a simple things – quickly ran ahead and stayed ahead already showing off his physical training he went through to accomplish his dream of becoming the #1 Pro Hero.

Of course as I didn't want to attract attention- and my stats just weren't that high –so I stayed near the back as I jogged. And not even a minute and I was already breathing heavily.

And if we were going to do this for the whole 1 hour period then… yeah there was no way I was going to do this the whole hour-

[-BASIC MISSION-]

[OBJECTIVE 1: RUN FOR 1 HOUR STRAIGHT]

[OBJECTIVE 2: COME FIRST PLACE IN THE TEST] {First Basic Mission Bonus}

[REWARDS: (1) 1,000 EXP (2) EPIC RANK SKILL: Gamer's Body (Lesser)]

I gulped as I eyed the blue screen floating in front of me as I ran. The quest just had to come now?!

I was trying to lay low here! I couldn't help but whine a little internally because it seemed that no matter what the system was hell-bent on ruining my plans.

I can't let go of an opportunity like this after all. Even if it was lesser and probably weaker, Gamer's Body was still Gamer's Body.It would probably be useful if something like epic was written to describe it.

But how do I even come first? Hell there is a very real chance that I will not even finish this race! Bakugo and the others already had quiet the head start in front of me and with my… poor physical prowess I could not win this race.

But then, another bell rung inside my mind-

[STA HAS INCREASE BY 1 POINT BECAUSE OF EXTRANEOUS ACTIVITY]

-And I remembered that despite being shitty, the system had given me Stat Points which I could allocate to any of area of my choosing!

These are my ticket to winning!

[STATS-

STR (STRENGTH) – 10/100

END (ENDURANCE) – 10/100

STA (STAMINA) – 11/100

AGI (AGILITY) – 10/100

INT (INTELLIGENCE) - 10

CHA (CHARISMA) – 10/50

STAT POINTS- 6]

I put all the 6 points I had into Stamina, because despite my goal of coming out first in this test, I also remembered that this was an endurance test. This meant that it was a test of seeing who would last the longest- coming first would just be the cherry on top.

[STA- 17]

And increased Stamina was crucial in that!I started running even faster as I gave it all my might, not being bothered by the looks of other students.

And not five minutes later-

[STA HAS INCREASE BY 1 POINT BECAUSE OF EXTRANEOUS ACTIVITY]

[AGI HAS INCREASE BY 1 POINT BECAUSE OF EXTRANEOUS ACTIVITY]

Haaa! Haaa! Haaa! I ran and ran and ran until I knew no more. Not giving any thought to the pain and numbness of my legs, adrenaline pumping in my veins as the hot sizzling sun loomed over me.

Only after that sweet bell sound that rang everytime my stat increased.

[STA- 21]

[AGI- 14]

I didn't even notice it, but at some point I had reached the position just behind a struggling Bakugo who was gritting his teeth as he ran, trying to protect his first place by any means necessary.

Bakugo whips his head towards me and snarls in rage seeing me catch up to him. "STAY BACK NERD!"

I stay silent I reach his position, running with all my might just besides him, everyone else having been left long behind as we matched our steps.

But I didn't overtake him despite him slowing down from exhaustion; I slowed myself down as I matched his speed step by step because-

Not yet, not yet.

The old Izuku would've been too afraid to even touch the shadow of Bakugo… I was not like that, I was waiting for-

We had circled back the whole track field countless times by now, Bakugo's stubbornness and my desperation for the epic skill keeping us running while the rest of our classmates had quit long ago.

And finally what I been waiting for… happened.

Mr. Motohama stands up from his chair and blows his whistle just as we were coming towards him, signaling from his hands and repeated whistles that this was now the last stretch.

Seeing that my tired eyes shined, my heartbeat increased and I stopped holding back.

-Throughout this whole run my eyes were on my stamina point counter. And just as I had reached Bakugo, it had reached dangerously low levels. That is why I had slowed myself down.I was giving myself time to rest a little and conserve my stamina.

Increasing STA did not just mean that I would get more stamina but that I would also regenerate stamina faster. It was a two in one deal. According to the User Manual, an average adult human has 20 points in each of their physical stats. And right now I had 21 points in stamina.

We were just 14 year olds, and no matter quirks or the strength of our bodies, we were still basically teenagers. So when compared to my stamina that was equivalent of an adult human and the stamina of a decently trained teenager…

"HAAAA!" I yelled outloud as I ran forward, using all of my leftover stamina as I overtook Bakugo.

"DEKU!" Bakugo's eyes widen in astonishment and rage as he yells out from behind me but I give his voice no consideration as the distance between us increases.

Bakugo increases his speed, using up all of his leftover stamina to catch up to me but it is fruitless as-

[AGI HAS INCREASE BY 1 POINT BECAUSE OF EXTRANEOUS ACTIVITY]

[AGI HAS INCREASE BY 1 POINT BECAUSE OF EXTRANEOUS ACTIVITY]

The increase of my stats proves enough to push me over the edge as the distance between us increases by a lot. Enough that he could not catch up to me…

"No-!" Bakugo's legs give out from pain and exhaustion as he trips over a rock and falls down. "No! I refuse!" But true to fashion, he doesn't give up, gritting his teeth as he tries to crawl forwards.

But it is too late as I-

WHISTLE!

"And that does it! Midoriya wins by fifty-five minutes!"

I win! I proclaimed to myself as I come to a stop in front of my flabbergasted and shocked classmates, a huge and bright smile spreading across my face.

[CHA HAS INCREASED BY 1 POINT BECAUSE OF EXCEEDING PEOPLE'S EXPECTATIONS]

This was more than just a simple victory in a weekly P.E class for me. This was the proof that I, Izuku Midoriya was capable of anything now! That I was not useless! That I was now more than just a Deku.

Mr. Motohama walks up to me and pats me on the back. "You really took that test seriously huh Midoriya? Keep it up!"

"Yes!" I smile up at him and say.

He nods as he then addresses the rest of the tired kids. "You guys can go back to class now! The period is almost at an end!" Then he turns back and walks towards the fallen and yelling form of Bakugo being helped up by his friends. "Get up Bakugo! Or go to the infirmary if you feel too much pain!"

-But I had already zoned him out and my eyes were fixed on the blue screen that pops up in front of me with firework animations signifying my success.
