Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Candle Light

It was half past 12 in the midnight. Laying on my bed, I was listening to the fading voices of random men outside. Finally when the voices died and the decor lights dimmed, I stood up and waited near my window. Making sure no living being was around my sight I tip toed to the kitchen. I know the corners like I designed it. But I'm not as sure after the doorstep, so I lit and half burnt candle and got back to my bed.

Pulled out my bag which I packed hurriedly few hours before and walked back to the kitchen again.

One last check, everything was still and dark and I did what I always wanted to. I opened the door and stepped out. For forever this time.

It was pouring hard, I couldn't see much but darkness never scared me, I took a deep breath and held my bag tighter ready to sprint. Before i could take the first step, a familiar voice came from behind

" You forgot this" Suhara.

She was standing next to the kitchen door with my photo album. Ya Allah, I forgot it.

I could barely see her face from the candle light but i could say she wasn't just tearing up, her eyes help hope and happiness.

"Allah will be with you" she said after handing me over the album. With one last hug, she went back without turning back. I was left alone, again.

Now, with a purpose

I could care less about the upcoming storms or the threatening thunders. Once I was out I was walking in the direction I was told to, and suddenly two headlights blinked from a distance. Once, twice and thrice...confirmed.

I walked as fast as I could and he opened the door for me.

"Did anyone saw you?" He asked in a low voice the first thing when I got in.

'no' I nodded.

And just like that we drove away, I stared out through the wet glass one candle was lit near my window, no one but her, I waved. I'm sure she'd be waving back.I closed my eyes and a lonely tear slipped. I'll miss her but deep inside my heart I wish, I'd never come back.
