Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: It's All About Us!

A beautiful late afternoon, the dark heavy clouds decided to let the sun rays play in the land and the fan above us dried our sweat.Only half an hour and then we'll be dispersed from school. Everybody was excited to leave school as soon as short hand reached 3 and the long hand reached 12 but Kairavi who was sitting beside me and me whose head lean onto her shoulder, were not ready to bid goodbye each other for the day.

The bond we shared was just like inseparable.

The warmth she carried , her niche blended with mine made the picture in front of my eyes began to darken and suddenly,

"Lyra! It's time to go home. " She said.

I rentered the moment, packed my bag and then we left ; sadly.

Kairavi is my best friend.

We know each other since sixth grade, but we grew closer when time passed to ninth grade of our school.

I remember the day we first met.

Mid sixth grade we all were, a girl from Dubai, born in India joined our school.

Teacher introduced her to the classroom. That day our classroom had murmuring sounds, different than usual. Our class top-student Kesari approched to ask her,

"Are you a scholar? "

She sat in the middle row and I sat on the third row from the class door. She made me curious, my eyes used to spot her bench with multiple questions out of curiosity.

"What an amusing person she is! "

I thought.

It was then Thursday and it was the day we were assigned new row, new partners, new seats, new point of view towards the white board .

I was alloted to sit in the middle row last bench with Kairavi . That is how we got introduced to each other.

We were in acquaintance until we reached the ninth grade and we sat together again in the first row from the class door on the second bench.

The only idea of mine that was different from her was the Religion. But it didn't create any boundaries in our friendship for I believed that God sent me to give the Love he hath given me and division acknowledgment will do the opposite.

When we were together, we cherished over many things that we share and stood beside from the ones we do not share.

The subtle energy she carried and her genuinity erased all her flaws from my mind and the world that I know better than anyone else but I cannot enter there in flesh.

The depth in our core would seem immeasurable in my innocent eyes.

The depth in our core would seem immeasurable in my innocent eyes.

From the day I held the pencil for the first time to this moment my mother called friendship as the most pure and sacred bond that connects to people.

She taught me to Love, to Understand, to Trust and to be patient.

But then she never agreed to my friendship with Kairavi.

She used to always say,

"Something is there between you two that you are missing it. "

I have to hear these words for the hundredth time and it stabbed like a knife into my chest as painfully as the lat time.

All I cared was for her.

She was my best friend.

But I was a child to her.

A child who knew what forever meant;

The world was a place that belonged to Heaven ;Love never costed a penny and Hearts are never meant to be broken.

I adored her and her family as much as I did to mine but something in her family was strange .....

Sometimes Kairavi talked about how her mother studied about prophecies and a doll hung on her corridor creeped me out every time I visited them.

All I knew Kairavi is my best friend.

And the bond we share will never break.

I used to sit idle thinking about our future, being together, explore together the world till the last breath.

Because that is what friendship meant to me.

Whenever I looked into her eyes,

She taled a story,

The story was about us, our friendship, our bond, our affection, happiness and connection only a best friend could feel.

She once decided to call me Lyru and I decided to call her Cashew in Love.

She was the sweetest person I knew, prettiest girl in my eyes.
