"Are you hiding something? Something about who you really are?"
[He knows. Oh god, he knows. How does he know?]
"What makes you ask that?" Her voice came out barely above a whisper.
"Because I can hear your thoughts."
Silence.
Complete, deafening silence.
"You... what?"
"I can hear your thoughts. I have been able to since our wedding night. Every panicked internal monologue. Every time you talk to yourself about 'the System' and 'going home' and 'acting like a villain.' I hear all of it."
Lily couldn't breathe.
[He KNOWS. He's known this WHOLE TIME. He knows about the System. He knows I'm not the original Lily. He knows EVERYTHING.]
"Why didn't you say anything?" she finally managed.
"Because I was waiting for you to trust me enough to tell me yourself."
"Jacob, I—"
"Come home. Tonight. We need to talk. Really talk. No more secrets."
"And if I tell you everything? If I explain what I really am?"
A pause.
Then: "Then I'll listen. And we'll figure it out together."
