Chapter 86 - 86: Nature’s Violent Rebuttal

"You… what did you say? The Mosasaurus is eating a buffet?"

"It's eating people?!"

Simon felt as if the sky were collapsing. "How is that even possible? It lives in the water. How could it get ashore? It's not a Sand Shark or some killer multi-headed shark!"

"Boss, that thing broke through the aquarium! The entire area is flooded with seawater, and at least dozens of people are dead!"

Bang!

The phone slipped from Simon's hand, smashing onto the floor and shattering, but he didn't even notice.

It was over.

It was already foreseeable that the Jurassic theme park he had painstakingly built would become history starting today.

Just yesterday, he had been mocking the chaotic management of Emerald Bay Beach, where only two or three rescue teams covered such a vast area. And today, the dinosaur island, boasting robust security, had been destroyed by a single Mosasaurus.

Owen snapped back to his senses and exchanged a glance with Claire, both of them seeing sheer terror in each other's eyes. "Damn it, we need to find a way to stop the Mosasaurus's rampage immediately. It—"

Boom!

Before Owen could finish speaking, a violent roar echoed from nearby.

They rushed to the window and saw the Indominus Rex suddenly appear at the perimeter gate.

Taking advantage of the security personnel being inside for inspections and unable to close the gate in time, it slammed its head forward and smashed the gate open, escaping.

Owen was stunned. "Didn't you just say that neither the surveillance cameras nor the thermal infrared systems detected any trace of the Indominus Rex? How did it show up?"

Only moments earlier, Owen had concluded that the Indominus Rex had already escaped after analyzing the cracks in the glass and the claw marks on the wall. That was why Simon had sent security staff inside to investigate.

Who would have thought that the Indominus Rex had been hiding in the jungle the entire time?

But the real question was this: why hadn't the thermal infrared picked it up? A terrifying possibility crossed Owen's mind. "What exactly did you put into the Indominus Rex's body?"

Claire was equally confused. Simon hesitated for a moment. "It should be tree frog genes. Tree frogs can regulate their own infrared radiation, allowing them to evade thermal detection."

"Then why couldn't the optical surveillance find it either?" Owen pressed on.

"Maybe… maybe squid genes? So it can change its body color and blend into its surroundings?" Simon answered uncertainly.

Owen slapped his forehead.

What kind of ultimate monster had these bastards actually created?

Squids could do far more than just change color; they possessed highly developed nervous systems, could process complex information, and had extremely strong learning and memory abilities.

That meant the Indominus Rex now had the powerful physique of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, intelligence rivaling that of an ape, and multiple special abilities. It was nothing short of a terrifying killing machine.

Insane. Capitalists really would do anything for money.

"Shut down the park immediately and evacuate everyone in an orderly manner, or twenty thousand tourists will be in danger!" Owen spoke urgently, but Simon shook his head over and over.

"No. Absolutely not! If we do that, everything is over! I need to find a way to kill it. And the Mosasaurus!"

Simon was unwilling to give up so easily. He did not want to lose billions in wealth.

He had to set everything right; at the very least, he still had a chance to salvage the situation. Simon turned and left, intending to personally bring this farce to an end.

At the same time, he contacted the park's main security force—a group of mercenaries with extensive experience in capturing dinosaurs.

It was precisely by relying on these men that he had successfully captured so many dinosaurs and built the massive Jurassic theme park.

He wanted those savage beasts to witness the astonishing wisdom of mankind.

Before 7.62mm rounds, all lives are equal!

Jurassic Park descended into chaos. After the Mosasaurus smashed through the aquarium tank in its exhibit, seawater flooded the area, and dozens of tourists were buried there forever.

Although the Mosasaurus had devoured dozens of people, it still did not satisfy its hunger.

Many people saw a massive dark silhouette swimming just beneath the surface of the water.

The Mosasaurus was right there, watching every life in the water.

Rose held Sharon tightly, staring at the shattered Mosasaurus exhibit with lingering fear.

After experiencing the horrors of Shark Beach and the Mosasaurus's carnage in quick succession, the single mother was clearly traumatized.

For the first time, her once-strong heart was overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness.

She had always believed she was strong enough to raise Sharon on her own.

But now, she suddenly realized that the world seemed to be engulfed in water and fire everywhere. If not for Luke, she and Sharon would probably have been eaten by sharks when they went to the beach alone.

At that moment, Rose suddenly became aware that Luke had been holding her the entire time.

That warm, powerful chest seemed to contain endless strength, and it gave her a sense of security she had never felt before.

Rose found herself becoming quietly infatuated with that feeling.

She could not help recalling Luke's magnificent figure from the day before, like a god descending to the mortal world.

That invincible posture had deeply captivated her. Rose thought to herself that perhaps… she should find a father for Sharon. Someone who could protect Sharon and protect herself as well.

Her thoughts spiraled, her cheeks flushing as certain images surfaced in her mind. She even forgot to step out of Luke's embrace.

Luke held Rose with one arm and Kelly with the other, his gaze fixed in a different direction.

That was the North Sector of Jurassic Park, the direction where the Indominus Rex was rampaging.

Wherever the Indominus Rex passed, it left behind cold dinosaur corpses.

This frenzied beast, already fifteen meters long and weighing fifteen tons before reaching adulthood—created through the fusion of human and dinosaur genes—had now become a god of death, slaughtering everything in its path without discrimination.

It sought to determine its place in the ecosystem through killing. Years of confinement in a cramped enclosure had driven this intelligent beast completely insane.

Luke did not intervene immediately. If certain people did not witness the consequences of their foolish actions firsthand, they would never acknowledge their mistakes.

Scientific research was a serious matter; without it, human society could not develop.

But when unknown and uncontrollable experiments were conducted recklessly under the banner of scientific progress, they were destined to backfire.

The Mist Arrowhead Project was merely one example. The current proliferation of animal enhancement and genetic dinosaur projects would certainly not be the last.

Since they had chosen this path, they would have to bear its bitter consequences. If they believed that no matter what they did, someone would always step in to clean up the mess, then they would only grow more reckless—until one day, they unleash some ultimate monster. The world will return to zero. Humanity will cease to exist.

Luke watched the unfolding situation coldly, contemplating the increasingly disastrous direction things were heading.

He remained indifferent.

Yulinka and the others did not understand why Luke was not acting, nor did they know what he was thinking, but none of them asked. In their hearts, everything Luke did carried profound meaning.

Even if Luke were to raise his hand and destroy the world one day, it would not be Luke's fault, but the world's.

Only Annabeth felt a trace of unease.

While no one was paying attention, she quietly slipped her right hand into her collar and drew out a specially made dagger hidden against her cleavage. "Shouldn't we do something?"

Luke shook his head. "It's not time yet."

Annabeth asked, puzzled, "Why?"

"Because certain idiots haven't died yet."

In the 3D stereoscopic view, Simon, the controller of Jurassic Park, was boarding a helicopter to hunt down the Indominus Rex.

Meanwhile, outside the park, a group of mercenaries led by a fat man was advancing toward the control room.

These people came from the parent company of International Genetic Technologies. On the surface, they claimed to be creating new dinosaur species to attract tourists, but in reality, they had already reached a cooperation agreement with the military.

They planned to use genetic technology to create a controllable, powerful dinosaur army.

The outstanding performance of the Indominus Rex had made them extremely envious.

When they learned that Jurassic Park was in trouble and that Simon was completely unable to salvage the situation, they rushed over immediately, intending to seize all of Jurassic Park's research results.

As for now, Luke neither knew nor needed to know. Killing all of these people might include some innocents, but if he killed one and spared another, there would inevitably be survivors.

Annabeth was growing impatient, but she did not dare jump into the water to fight a sixty-meter-long behemoth.

Even with demigod blood flowing through her veins, at this point, that thin trace of divinity was far from enough to contend with such a rampant monster.

Unless Athena herself descended.

After waiting a little longer, when Luke saw the red dot representing Simon turn completely black, he finally prepared to act.
