In the interrogation room, I sat upright with a serious expression.
In front of me sat two police officers, one of whom was the attractive female officer.
Right now, her pretty face was icy, and there was a hint of hostility in her gaze directed at me.
"What's your name?"
The young male officer on the left asked.
"Charlie Thompson!"
"How old are you, and where are you from?"
"Eighteen, from Thompson Village."
"Eighteen? Are you a student?"
"No, I dropped out a long time ago. Now I'm a delivery person."
The male officer frowned, showing a hint of disdain, "No wonder you didn't learn anything good and got involved in ****. Do you admit to what happened today?"
"What happened?"
"****, of course!" The male officer slapped the table, raising his voice, "Don't play dumb with me, saying things like you're innocent. Can there even be a misunderstanding in this?"
"Officer, this really is a misunderstanding!" I got anxious. If I were truly convicted, I'd be locked up for at least half a month.
"Nonsense!"
The male officer raised his thick eyebrows, looking stern, "You went in, if not for ****, then for what else?"
"Officer, I really wasn't. I was only there to promote a product."
"Promote? Wait, didn't you just say you're a delivery person?"
"Yes! I am a delivery person. But who says a delivery person can't do promotions?" I said confidently, "Besides, you have no evidence at all to prove I committed a crime."
"I heard for ****, you need to catch someone in the act. You have no grounds to detain me." I realized that painstakingly explaining made no difference, so I decided to push back instead.
"You… you're quite something, kid!" The male officer sneered.
Then, he turned around and quietly said to the female officer, "Emily, this kid is hard to deal with! Given the current situation, we really can't hold him."
Emily Davis kept a cold face, her eyes shimmering with a cold glint.
Suddenly, she slapped the table and stood up, towering over and glaring at me.
"This kid is really infuriating!" she thought to herself, recalling the previous scene, seething with anger, and wishing she could just slap him.
She certainly wouldn't believe any nonsense about promotions. This kid looked gentlemanly, somewhat handsome, but as the saying goes, you can't judge a book by its cover. Beneath this handsome exterior, who knows, there might lurk an indecent, vile heart.
"What are you looking at? I even saved you!" I rolled my eyes.
Bang!
Emily Davis slapped the table, visibly furious. This guy really knew how to poke the bear!
"Alright then, tell me what exactly you're promoting." She gritted her teeth, practically squeezing the words through them.
"Oh! It's a beauty product."
I opened my backpack and took out a small metal box, about half the size of a palm. I twisted open the lid, revealing a pure white cream that emitted a pleasant fragrance.
"This is my specially formulated beauty cream. It can whiten and remove spots, making the skin soft and smooth," I introduced.
"Pfft! Who are you trying to fool? It's obviously a scam," the male officer mocked.
"Believe it or not, it's a family secret recipe. Officer, do you want to try it? It's free."
"Spare me, what family recipe. Who knows what's really in there?" Emily Davis looked disgusted.
"Fine, no need if you don't want it!" I said, somewhat dejected.
Just then, the door to the interrogation room opened, and a police officer came in, whispering a few words to Emily and the male officer.
"We've cleared it up. You'd never believe it, but that other guy's a fugitive, wanted for murder. That's why he was desperate to break out. We've made a huge catch this time."
"As for this kid, he's indeed innocent. Those ladies confirmed it."
I immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but Emily Davis's face turned a bit sour.
"Officer, can I go now?" I said brazenly.
Emily Davis slammed the table hard, standing up with a hate-filled glare directed at me. Then, she abruptly turned and left, full of anger.
"You can leave!" The male officer said helplessly.
As I walked out of the police station, it was already dark outside.
"I need to go get my tricycle back, it should still be at the bathhouse." I tightened my backpack and headed that way.
The city's night was vibrant, filled with bright lights and bustling activity.
Walking down the street, feeling the cool night breeze, I felt utterly content.
My life had already changed. If I continued this path, I would surely succeed. Brimming with confidence, even my steps became more buoyant.
As I walked, suddenly, I heard someone shouting ahead.
"Hey beautiful, don't go! Come play with us, guys!"
Then there was a burst of lewd laughter, indicating there were quite a few of them.
"Damn, this girl is so hot! Even better than those celebrities, I'd trade three years of my life just to have a bit of fun with her."
"Ha! Three years is nothing, I'd trade five!"
The voices continued, mixed with a woman's voice, "Go... away, don't... touch me!" Her speech was broken, like she was drunk and not fully conscious.
I frowned.
On the street ahead, there were several bars open, and this group must have just come out of one of them.
"I can't stand idly by when I see injustice!"
I, ever eager to help, couldn't ignore it. Although the previous incident left me disheartened, it hadn't extinguished my kind spirit.
Since embarking on the path of a Cultivator and becoming stronger, I felt even more obliged to confront such matters.
Moreover, in the heart of every man, there lingered a bit of the hero complex, and I was no exception.
"Time to test my skills!"
I clenched my fists, growing excited, and quickened my pace, moving forward.
Soon, I saw a woman stumbling towards me, her hair disheveled, face indistinguishable, but her figure was stunning, almost suffocating.
Her form was long and curvy, with enticing curves.
She wore a fitted black suit and a pencil skirt, perfectly displaying her body. Her jade legs were encased in black stockings, straight and long.
She was wearing high heels about seven or eight centimeters high, wobbling as she walked.
Behind her trailed five or six men, with a roguish appearance, clearly up to no good.
"Hey beauty, having trouble moving? Let us help you. Didn't you know, my nickname is Golden Spear, seven times a night, guaranteed satisfaction."
The leading ruffian leered, hurriedly catching up, reaching out to grab the woman's behind.
"Stop!"
At that moment, the street burst into the loud shout.
The ruffian paused, looking bewildered.
Looking up, he saw the approaching young man.
"Hahaha! Where did this idiot come from, trying to play the hero! Hahaha! This is too funny!" The ruffian clutched his stomach, laughing hysterically.
Behind him, the other ruffians also burst into laughter.
