Chapter 2 - First Encounter with the Poor Thing, Beautiful as a White Porcelain Doll

Perhaps in the game, Liyue Harbor seemed like a small place, easily traversed in a few minutes.

But after Fang Xun transmigrated to the Teyvat Continent, he realized the real Liyue Harbor was several times larger than in the game.

The game only showed the tip of the iceberg!

The real Liyue,

resembled a giant dragon descending upon the earth,

even from the highest point, one couldn't see the end.

If one was new to the area, it was easy to get lost, and becoming disoriented was a common occurrence.

Fang Xun, after constantly asking for directions, finally found his way to the harbor.

The harbor primarily handled the transportation of goods and the exchange between merchants from various countries.

The area was extremely bustling and lively.

From a distance, ships of various sizes and colors were docked at the harbor.

There were also many cargo ships entering and exiting the sea.

Their horns echoed,

a continuous and prolonged sound.

Fang Xun had just arrived at the harbor. Without needing to look, his attention was immediately drawn to a little girl.

That little girl had white hair that cascaded gently over her shoulders.

Her pretty face was fair and delicate, like a porcelain doll.

And her red eyes were clear and bright, like crystal gems, sparkling with a gorgeous light.

Yet, this beautiful little girl was wearing a simple cloth outfit.

The same kind of cloth was typically used to make the bags for carrying goods.

In truth,

this fabric wasn't suitable for clothing because it was extremely uncomfortable to wear, constantly irritating the skin.

But if times weren't so hard, who would willingly endure such hardship?

The girl looked very frail.

The clothes, which should have been tailored to her figure, seemed particularly loose on her.

The summer evening breeze blew, billowing her clothes like it might whisk her away at any moment.

But what caught Fang Xun's attention most was the girl's feet.

You see, Liyue Harbor was a bustling place.

Many merchants were dressed in fine clothes, with expensive and comfortable shoes on their feet.

Yet, this little girl was barefoot, her feet on the still-warm paving stones.

The first time Fang Xun saw the girl, he recognized her as Ningguang in her childhood.

Because her family was impoverished, the sensible Ningguang started earning money at a very young age.

She often went barefoot, a basket in her hand, hawking her goods to passersby.

Unknowingly, Ningguang came before Fang Xun.

Ningguang tilted her head, blinking her big, watery eyes, and said in a voice that was still a bit immature, "Uncle, do you need Starconch?"

"I have lots and lots of Starconch here, all fished from the river myself, guaranteed clean!"

"It's a good choice for home decorations or as gifts for others."

"There are many varieties too, Uncle, you can pick and choose."

Looking at Ningguang, who looked like a little adult, Fang Xun couldn't help but laugh.

Who would have thought that the Tianquan Star, Ningguang, was so cute when she was little?

"Little girl, how do you sell these Starconch?" Fang Xun squatted down, gently rubbing Ningguang's little head, and then asked.

Ningguang hadn't held out much hope, instinctively thinking Fang Xun would reject her.

After all, the merchants in the harbor always seemed to be in a hurry.

Those merchants weren't even willing to let her finish speaking before they hurried away.

Unexpectedly, the uncle in front of her was willing to stop for her,

and patiently listen to her,

even squatting down to talk to her.

A warmth bloomed in little Ningguang's heart.

She felt that Fang Xun was different from the merchants she usually saw.

This uncle was so gentle.

That was little Ningguang's first impression of Fang Xun.

Ningguang snapped back to attention, her innocent eyes turning to Fang Xun, and then she said, "Uncle, the price of each Starconch is different."

"You need to point out which Starconch you want, then I can give you a price."

Thinking about how the little girl had carried the heavy Starconch all day, it must have been very difficult.

Fang Xun decided to relieve her pressure.

"Little girl, I'll take all of these Starconch. Give me the total."

Fang Xun now had the 100,000 Mora gifted by the system, more than enough to buy these Starconch.

For him, this expenditure was just a drop in the bucket, insignificant.

But for Ningguang, it might alleviate the pressure on her entire family.

Sure enough, upon hearing Fang Xun's words, Ningguang's beautiful eyes became exceptionally bright.

"Uncle, is that true?"

Ningguang had thought Fang Xun only wanted one or two Starconch.

She hadn't expected him to be willing to buy them all!

This was an unexpected surprise for Ningguang.

Besides being happy, Ningguang was also a little worried.

She was afraid that Fang Xun was just teasing her, maybe not buying anything in the end.

This kind of thing had happened before.

Some merchants had said they would buy all of Ningguang's Starconch.

But after Ningguang had painstakingly sorted them,

the merchant then said they didn't want a single Starconch,

and was even pleased with themselves for playing a trick on the little girl.

From then on, Ningguang hated being deceived more than anything.

"I do want everything, but I have a request,"

Fang Xun paused, then continued, "Stop calling me 'Uncle'. It makes me sound old. I'm only about ten years older than you."

"Call me 'brother' from now on, understand?"
