Chapter 57 - Digimon Hacker: Recollection 2 [9]

"This structure…"

Just as Chen Ze was marveling at Renamon's talent, he suddenly realized that the modified system before him felt strangely familiar—the framework, the way it processed data… it was almost identical to a DigiCore.

"You based the computer system on your own DigiCore's framework?"

With that realization, Chen Ze finally understood why Renamon's progress over this single month had been so absurdly fast.

After all, in a way, a DigiCore was a powerful software system—responsible for processing all forms of data and information inside a Digimon.

Even so, being able to apply fundamental logic and architecture from a DigiCore onto a human-made computer system was no simple feat.

"Wait—does that mean you modified the entire system?"

As if suddenly remembering something, Chen Ze's expression changed. He turned nervously toward Renamon, whose face remained perfectly calm.

"Yes. I updated all of the system files…"

Renamon paused briefly, then continued in the same serene tone:

"That naturally includes those 'mating materials' you disguised as system files."

Chen Ze's face instantly flushed crimson. He opened his mouth, hoping to explain, but Renamon continued with a devastatingly matter-of-fact tone that would make any human male want to crawl into a hole.

"Of course, I understand human males—especially boys your age—often feel longing and curiosity toward 'mating.' So I didn't delete any of those materials."

Despite Renamon's still-gentle voice, Chen Ze could feel the faint teasing beneath her composed exterior.

"Do you see that 'little box' over there? Your data is inside."

Following her gesture, Chen Ze spotted—in a discreet corner of the cyberpunk room—a small pile of boxes covered in mosaic blur.

Worse yet, next to the "little box" were programs labeled with phrases like "Gentleman," "E-hub," "Big Sister Type," and "bika."

"You—!"

Chen Ze stared speechlessly at Renamon's innocent expression. This time he was absolutely certain: she had done this on purpose.

This was blatant public execution.

Only now did he finally understand how she'd known his "preferences" so precisely—seemed she had long since infiltrated all his "gentleman accounts" stored on the computer.

...

Somewhere in an unknown dimension, inside a Digital Laboratory.

"…Oh?"

Mirei Mikagura, who had just closed a folder, froze for an instant before a faint, amused smile appeared on her lips.

"To think they'd come up with this method to avoid my tracking… looks like they have some skill after all."

Simultaneously passing through countless relays before entering the public network—this approach was effective enough that even a godlike Digimon such as King Drasil's avatar couldn't fully block Renamon and Chen Ze's entry.

"But unfortunately… the gears of destiny have already begun turning."

Still wearing her faint smile, Mirei Mikagura sensed that Renamon was about to enter EDEN, yet she made no move to intervene.

The "protagonist" had already stepped onto the destined path; even the arrival of two additional anomalies could no longer stop the great ship named "Destiny."

"Destiny?"

As Mirei murmured to herself, unfamiliar data suddenly flooded the digital laboratory around her.

"If you truly believe in something like destiny, then why intervene in it?"

A composed, rational voice echoed out. From within the unfamiliar data stepped a stunning blonde woman—curvy, confident—with pink goggles resting atop her head.

"…"

Mirei gently raised a hand, signaling the Mastemon behind her not to act. She quietly examined the blonde woman before finally speaking.

"Are you Kyoko Kuremi right now? Or a Royal Knight?"

A flash of surprise crossed the woman's eyes. She lowered her gaze to her own body, clearly puzzled by how her disguise had been seen through.

"So it is a Royal Knight."

Mirei's calm voice carried certainty. Just as she prepared to speak further, "Kyoko" gave her a slow, meaningful smile.

"It seems even you don't fully grasp the threads of 'destiny.'"

With a casual motion, she removed the goggles from her forehead, letting her long hair fall freely. Her voice shifted—lazily, playfully—utterly different from before.

"Right now… I'm still Kyoko Kuremi."

If the earlier Kyoko was a composed, logical career woman, then this Kyoko was more like a laid-back, whimsical homebody.

The difference wasn't just in voice or tone; even her aura and emotional presence had shifted dramatically.

"Still Kyoko Kuremi…?"

Hearing this, Mirei's eyes widened in shock, as though witnessing something impossible.

"Is that so strange?"

The current Kyoko spoke lazily, unconcerned, even tugging at her slightly revealing clothing as if she felt a little cold—like an ordinary person would.

"I've been investigating the incident from eight years ago. And clearly, you're someone who knows the truth."

Standing inside this extradimensional laboratory—something unreachable by conventional means—Kyoko displayed no fear whatsoever.

The past eight years had taught her absolute trust in the presence within her body calling itself a Royal Knight.

"So the one inside you now… is it Alphamon? Or Omegamon?"

Kyoko's unexpected arrival shattered Mirei's ability to trust her own "observed" timeline.

"Why not guess Gallantmon?"

As though unable to understand Mirei's confidence, Kyoko asked the question plainly.

"If Gallantmon had possessed you, you wouldn't be standing here right now."

Although Gallantmon was technically a member of the "justice faction" of the Royal Knights, his methods were ruthless—he would sacrifice anything for his ideal justice. A fragile human like Kyoko wouldn't stand a chance.

"…It's me. Alphamon."

After a short silence, the voice shifted back—calm, logical, the earlier persona resurfacing.

"These past eight years, I gathered Kyoko Kuremi's lost data fragments… and reconstructed her spirit."

"Kyoko"—or rather, Alphamon—spoke softly.

"But as for you… an outsider from an unknown time and space—what exactly have you come to this world for?"

A/N: In canon, Mirei Mikagura and Kyoko Kuremi are basically the only two characters who operate with "god‑tier perspective." I honestly can't figure out how these two even know each other.

So in this book, I simply drag both off their pedestals.

They may still act mystical in the plot, but they absolutely aren't the author or scriptwriter incarnate.

They have their own emotions, flaws, and personal preferences.

T/N: nice nice kyoko is hehehe
