Chapter 158 - Conversation and Closure

Three days after the rescue, Aria finally felt steady enough to have the conversation she had been avoiding. Elara had requested a meeting, and Aria had asked for it to be in the garden. Her safe space, where she could ground herself if the conversation became too difficult.

Elara arrived exactly on time, looking nervous but determined. She had changed over the past months. Not just in appearance, though she had filled out some and looked healthier. There was a solidness to her now. A quiet confidence that came from knowing who you were instead of desperately trying to be someone else.

"Thank you for agreeing to see me," Elara said, standing at the garden gate like she was waiting for permission to enter.

"Come in," Aria said, gesturing to the bench. "Sit."

They sat with careful space between them, both uncertain how to begin.

"I heard you fought in the rescue," Aria said finally.
