Chapter 179 - Lakeshire

They smelled Lakeshire before they saw it. Not woodsmoke and cooking like Millhaven, nor the organized cleanliness of Redstone, but something entirely different. Salt water, fish, wild herbs growing in abundance, and underneath it all, a subtle electric quality in the air that made Aria's healing senses tingle.

"Magic," Kaelan said, sensing it too. "More concentrated than anywhere we have been."

"Makes sense," Aria said. "A collective of gifted individuals all living together. That much concentrated ability in one place would create residue, I guess. An ambient magical signature."

The settlement appeared around a bend in the road, and it stopped all three of them in their tracks.
