Chapter 92 - Abomination

I went completely still.

"W-werewolf?!" I stuttered, needing to be certain I'd heard him right.

Hex nodded carefully.

A snicker slipped from my lips. Then, almost immediately, a disbelieving laugh bubbled out of me. I threw my head back, my stomach clenching, my chest tightening as laughter spilled free.

It was ridiculous.

Werewolves were myths. Stories. Fairytales told to scare children.

They weren't real.

And Hex certainly wasn't one.

I pressed a hand over my mouth, shaking my head, trying to suppress the laughter but it only grew. My shoulders trembled with it.

"Stop," I whispered to myself.

"I am not kidding," Hex said quietly, his brows drawn together as he watched me.

I couldn't respond. The laughter kept coming—thin, unstable, verging on hysterical.

Then my chest began to hurt. I tried to inhale.

Nothing.
