Chapter 27 - 24

Angron could feel the massive emotions radiating from the lower-strata people who never saw the light of day.

[You have generated enough emotions already.] The Butcher's Nails spoke.

"my father was also a warlord."

[At least he is a warlord who can allow humanity to breathe. They are all trying hard to live. You should not blindly empathize with their suffering, Angron. You cannot bear the pain of everyone.]

"Yes, nail, yes, I understand. I call myself the Liberator..."

[So what do you want to do? Yell 'Kill the False Emperor' and then go stab your father? Do you think they don't see? The great enemy of humanity hangs over everyone's head like the Sword of Damocles.]

"Then you tell me... what exactly is the great enemy of humanity!"

[I have explained it to you.]

"What, emotions, demons, nail... you should be more materialistic."

The Butcher's Nails was speechless, feeling the complaining emotions sent by Angron. He had implicitly mentioned Chaos to Angron; at least demons truly existed, but Angron treated it as a joke, even laughing and saying a machine was actually idealistic!

Although Angron trembled when he walked due to the electrical shocks from the Butcher's Nails, he still refused to believe it.

In Angron's perception, everything could be traced, and even psychic power was just a way of utilizing energy, which made the Butcher's Nails worry that Angron might turn out like Mortarion.

"Give me a chance to see it!" Angron muttered softly.

[What?]

"Of course, it's the nine demons. Let me see if they hurt when I chop them!"

Although he didn't quite believe in the existence of demons in this universe, Angron still tried to soothe the good brother on his head.

[They will, my friend!]

System AI snorted coldly. Just as Gell thought Angron was having an episode again, before he could voice his concern.

He felt a gust of wind.

Angron grabbed Gell with one hand and Kharn with the other. Before the two of them could figure out what happened, they were thrown into the air.

[Enemy attack!] Trusting his old brother, Angron immediately tossed his scions to a safe area.

When the arc-flashing lightning claw slashed across Angron's cloak, accompanied by a ripping sound, the red cloak gifted to him by the War Hounds was immediately cut in two. Angron looked up at the face of the person who had tried to kill him.

His brother. Konrad Curze!

Angron's eyes darkened. He held a Chainsword he had snatched from Gell, and the Chainsword roared to life.

"Konrad Curze, I don't recall offending you!" Angron raised his head to look at the grimacing Konrad.

If the Butcher's Nails hadn't scanned a small red dot, he knew Konrad Curze would have succeeded by now.

"I want to talk to you."

Konrad Curze's pale face emerged from the night. He looked like a vampire bat. He touched his face with his other hand. A grim smile appeared on Angron's face. At this moment, Konrad Curze's face was solemn, and no one knew what he was thinking.

"You ruined my cloak!" Angron held the ruined cloak in one hand, looking straight ahead at Konrad Curze.

"A clo—"

Angron moved. The Chainsword smashed directly toward Konrad Curze, who used the lightning claw on his hand to block the Chainsword Angron swung.

The Butcher's Nails looked at the frenzied Konrad Curze.

[Using electrical current to stimulate the body!]

In Konrad Curze's eyes, he saw Angron's entire body and head flickering with green light.

Angron attacked again. Konrad Curze sneered, swinging the lightning claw in his hand, the arc-flashing lightning claw aimed directly at Angron's chest.

This should have been a guaranteed hit. At least in the fragments Konrad Curze saw, this blow was supposed to pierce Angron's chest. Konrad Curze was already prepared to be questioned by the Emperor of Mankind. He saw the severely wounded Angron and the furious Emperor of Mankind, and Konrad Curze had long been prepared for his own fate!

"But what about you! Angron! Are you ready!" Konrad Curze roared. He watched as Angron evaded his attack with a strange posture.

"Of course! My brother!"

Angron placed the Chainsword against Konrad Curze's shoulder, leaving a shallow scratch on his ceramite Power Armor.

On the Himalayan Terra Imperial Palace, several figures stood on the palace walls. Angron felt a dull ache in his waist; he had just evaded Konrad Curze's attack, seemingly under the control of the Butcher's Nails, but that didn't matter. He looked at the grimacing Konrad Curze.

Konrad Curze was silent, even somewhat fearful and uneasy. His strange ability was tormenting him. Konrad Curze stepped back. He saw it! He saw it again: in that foul, dark future, there were eyes, and amidst countless fragments, he saw death. Konrad Curze ignored the vibrating Chainsword resting on his shoulder. He covered his face with both hands. He could hear the hot pulse in his veins, and he could see a few beams of light piercing through the rustling darkness of the future.

Scenes of destruction and the sight of the end of all things constantly drilled into his mind. Konrad Curze screamed in terror. He saw his brothers falling one by one in pools of blood, brother fighting brother, father fighting son.

"It's alright! I am here! My brother, I am here!"

When a voice sounded, his physical senses gradually returned. The shattered visions continually dispersed from his sight. Konrad Curze gasped for breath, tears streaming down his face. Salty, wet tears traced paths down his cheeks. He saw Angron.

"I am here, brother!"

Angron didn't know what kind of madness Konrad Curze was experiencing, but all he could do was grip Konrad Curze's hand, pull him into an embrace, and absorb his pain to soothe his emotions.

Clearly, Angron had helped Konrad Curze.

"I saw it. I saw brother fighting brother."

Konrad Curze's trembling voice made Angron's heart clench.

In comparison, Gell and Kharn behind them were more nervous than anyone else, as this was not a conversation they could participate in. It was well known throughout all the Legions that the Eighth Legion's Primarch, Konrad Curze, was mentally unstable.

What made them most nervous was that they were afraid this elder brother, Konrad Curze, would corrupt their Father of the Primarchs. After all, Angron's mind wasn't exactly sound to begin with—mentally speaking, of course. Gell and Kharn were now praying internally that mental illness wasn't contagious!

Or rather, that Konrad's mental illness wouldn't spread!

They did not want their Primarch's condition to worsen.

"I just experienced it, too. At the very least, you almost killed me!" Angron pointed to his chest.

[This brother of yours can see fragments of the future. It's one of his abilities.] Hearing the Butcher's Nails' words, Angron's heart immediately skipped a beat.

"Why can't I?" Angron mumbled. Before Konrad could understand what Angron meant, Angron lifted Konrad entirely off the ground.

"Who have you told about this?"
