Chapter 11 - The Grand Lion of House Lannister

(Third Person POV)

A soldier held onto the reins of Lord Tywin Lannister's horse, the steed shifting as the Lord of House Lannister dismounted.

Genna smiled as she looked at her eldest brother, "Hello, Lord Tywin~" She said, fanning herself as Tywin slowly approached her, "You finally came down to visit the smallfolk of Lannisport."

Tywin held his hands behind his back, looking around with such intensity that one would think he was scanning for ambushing soldiers. His serious eyes eventually fell upon Ellion, who stood tall behind Genna, his arm resting atop his sword's handle.

Tywin then looked at Genna, "Genna." He said, his voice calm and serious, "What are you doing in this wretched building?"

"This building is nice and quiet." Genna said, "I like it. Besides, you told me not to garner much attention."

"I have spread my men all throughout the city, they are to make sure that filth is purged from it. His Grace and Prince Rhaegar will walk these streets when the Tourney starts." He said as he looked at Nidia, his mere gaze causing the young woman to feel inferior to dirt, "When the time comes, I expect nothing to go wrong. I take it you have come and done the same, Sister?"

"I've come to indulge myself in the pleasures of a noblewoman." Genna said with a smile, "To enjoy the luxuries of jewelry, wine, and pastries~"

"I am not surprised in the slightest." Tywin said as he took a step forward, causing Nidia to flinch, "But I ask myself, why is the Red-Headed squire to Old Lyonel next to you?"

Genna stopped fanning herself, "Oh my~" she said, a mischievous smirk appearing on her face, "How do you know about Ellion?"

"You would never shut up about how Emmon talks about Old Lyonel, that stupid Hedge Knight." Tywin said seriously

Ellion shifted, a serious expression appearing on his face. He said nothing, though, simply stared at Tywin.

"Ellion is here for work." She said, "And glory. You see, I hired him as my personal sword. And he might take part in the Tourn-"

"Do not insult me with that, Genna." Tywin cut her off, "Bastards are not to partake in a Knight's Tourney."

Genna placed the fan in front of her mouth, "Who said he was a Bastard?" She asked, her eyebrows raised, "Hmm???"

Tywin looked at Ellion, "Old Lyonel's squire, the red-headed bastard boy." He said, eyeing him up and down, "Ellion Rivers, was it not?"

Ellion looked at him, "The Lord of The Rock." He said, matching Tywin's condescending tone, "Tywin Lannister, right?"

Tywin's face hardened, "I heard he had a mouth on him, from what Lord Blackwood told me in his letters after Lyonel died." He said, "Tell me, boy. How was it that your teacher died? I heard outlaws got to him."

Ellion stepped forward, "You could say that." He said, "I-"

Genna elbowed him in the ribs, "That's the Lord of Casterly Rock you're speaking to." She said, an annoyed tone in her voice as she hid her face behind the fan, "Speak to him with respect, boy."

Ellion rubbed his ribs, "My apologies, My Lord." He said to Tywin, "Yes, Lyonel was killed by a group of outlaws that were attacking a mill. To protect a family of four, he gave his life."

"Hm, what a pathetic end for him." Tywin said

"On the contrary, My Lord." Ellion said with a serious expression, "He died doing what he thought was right. And he loved helping people; he simply had no master to serve, therefore, he was a Hedge Knight."

"And he didn't knight you?" Tywin asked, "Before his unfortunate end?"

"No." Ellion said

"That is quite the shame." Tywin said as he glanced around, "But as I've said before, Bastards take no part in a Knight's tourney, especially one that was not knighted."

"Hm...." Ellion said

"Forget the Tourney then, Brother~" Genna said, "We should discuss the outlaw problem."

Tywin looked at his sister, "And what of it, sister?"

"We should go inside." Genna smiled, "It's quite hot, the sun can burn you, dear brother."

"Very well." Tywin said as he looked at the men behind him, "Secure the perimeter, stand guard at this building and make sure nobody enters."

The Knight behind him nodded, "Yes, My Lord." He said seriously, "We'll do that."

"Let me point you where you should be, brother~" Genna said with a smile, "A nice study on the top floor. Don't go near my wing, though."

"I have it under perfect condition, don't disturb it~"

*********

"What is it you want now, Genna?" Tywin said as he sat down at the desk, "And why are you involving this boy?"

Genna was sitting in front of the desk where Tywin was, "Oh, Brother~" Genna said with a smile, "I simply pity the boy~ His mentor died some time ago, and he's wandering the lands, posing as a Hedge Knight. He could starve at any moment, and Emmon admired Old Lyonel~ I want to help him out."

Tywin glanced at Ellion, who was standing behind Genna with a serious expression, "He doesn't seem malnourished." He said, "And it seems he can get decent work as a Sellsword. Essos is a good place for that."

"Oh no!" Genna scowled, "Young Ellion stays here in Westeros."

Tywin raised an eyebrow, "And why's that."

"I don't trust anyone else other than this one." Genna fanned herself, "He helped me out not too long ago."

"And what did he do?" Tywin asked

"That's personal. It's embarrassing." Genna said while closing her eyes

Tywin stared at his sister for a few seconds and then at Ellion, his eyes scanning the young man.

"Hm...." He said, his voice was tense and serious, "So....you intend to work for my sister?"

Ellion nodded, "If Lady Genna requires my services." He said, "I am happy to offer them. I heard you have trouble with the outlaws?"

Tywin leaned back, "What makes you think I would offer you a job like that?" He said crossing my arms, "A boy no older than ten and six, that is. Do you think you can handle something like this? A task that not even a group of ten knights can achieve?"

"You've put a bounty on the head of the bandits that are forming in the Westerlands." Genna said, fanning herself, "250 Gold Dragons for the head of the former mercenary from Essos. Ellion can take that bounty."

"Is that so?" Tywin asked, "Can he handle him?"

"Tell him, Ellion." Genna said

Ellion cleared his throat, "My Lord, I am more than capable in fighting someone like a bandit leader from Essos." He said, "I assure you, your money will be well spent."

"You do realize that it is not just a single bandit leader that is the problem." Tywin said, "The problem is his men, running amok in my lands and posing a threat to the people."

"That is why you should reward him should he clear them all out." Genna said

Tywin raised his hand slightly, "Sister." He said, his eyes still on Ellion, "Let us speak."

"Okay...." Genna grumbled with a frown

"The Bandit Leader known as Qhorvos has subordinates of his own, around fifteen strong." Tywin said, "If they are dealt with, chances are the other bandits spread throughout the Westerlands will go in hiding. They are the reason they're that confident."

"I can take them down for you." Ellion said, "But I would want a decent reward."

"250 Gold Dragons for Qhorvos's head." Tywin said, "15 for the head of each of his men. If you can get rid of at least half, that would be a good enough reward."

"700 for Qhorvos." Ellion said, "35 for each of his direct subordinates."

Tywin raised his eyebrow, "And why that number?"

"I think 1,225 Gold Dragons for a whole band of outlaws that threatens your Tourney's safety is a good price. Especially if His Grace would appreciate the safety of your region." Ellion said, "Oh, add an extra 50 for taking care of the bandits who were going to sneak into the city and plot something."

Tywin's expression hardened, "Boy." He said seriously, "Do not play with me."

"I don't play around." Ellion said, "You're sending me alone to deal with a threat not ten of your knights would be able to handle. 1,275 Gold Dragons is a fair price."

"Hm..." Tywin said, "Very well."

"I accept."
