Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Her scream sliced through the courthouse steps like broken glass.

Before I could even look her way, something hot and sharp burst in my stomach.

Stab.

"Ah—!"

Air rushed out of my lungs. My vision jolted. I stumbled back as the ground tilted beneath me.

"Hey! Someone—someone stop that woman!"

Voices erupted around me, chaotic and distant, as if they were echoing from the end of a long tunnel. But I didn't turn to them.

I couldn't.

My gaze was fixed on her—my ex-wife.

Her brown eyes shook, swollen with tears, rage, and something much darker. Her lips twisted, not just in hatred, but in despair—like she was falling apart while she shattered me.

I tried to call her name.

But no sound came out. Just a wet gasp.

My hands instinctively flew to my stomach, feeling warm blood seeping between my fingers.

A cold shock crawled up my spine, spreading faster than the pain itself.

"You monster..." she choked out.

"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO RUINED MY LIFE!!"

Another flash of steel.

Stab.

This time, my neck jerked back. Then another.

And another.

I couldn't even comprehend the hits.

Time shattered—seconds splintering apart. Each thrust of the blade made my body jerk, my limbs numb, my thoughts scatter.

People screamed. Footsteps hurried. Someone shouted for police.

But all I could see was her trembling face, smeared with tears and my blood.

In just moments...

My whole world was torn apart.

My legs gave out before I even realized I was falling.

All the strength drained from my body at once—like someone had pulled the plug on my life.

The stabbing stopped only when two policemen finally reached her.

"Stop! Let go of the knife!"

I heard the scuffle beside me—shoes scraping, someone grunting, a shocked gasp from my ex-wife as she was restrained.

But everything felt strangely distant, as if happening behind a thick wall.

Clank.

The knife hit the ground right beside my outstretched fingers. My blood still dripped from its edge.

'What the hell…? Is it really ending like this?'

My thoughts drifted sluggishly as I forced my gaze upward.

Just before, I had walked out of the courtroom thinking I was finally free—finally done with this her.

But she chose to kill me here? In front of everyone? With a knife… inside the courthouse grounds?

'How did she even get that past security?'

'Did she plan this? From the start?'

'Did I push her too hard? Did I… go too far?'

Countless questions swarmed my mind, overlapping, twisting, unraveling—none of them giving me the answer I desperately searched for.

My blood felt warm against my cold hands.

My heartbeat slowed… becoming heavy, irregular.

"Hey! Can you hear me!?"

A voice echoed faintly, like someone shouting at me from the other side of a thick fog.

"Stay with us! Help is coming—just hold on!"

Footsteps rushed closer, but their forms blurred.

Faces melted into outlines.

Voices sounded like echoes inside a long tunnel.

My eyelids grew heavier.

My vision dimmed, colors dissolving into gray.

And the last thing I felt was the strange mix of pain, confusion, and a sinking dread— as if my life was slipping between my fingers like sand.

All of my memories flickered before my eyes, flashing one after another like someone was rapidly tearing through the pages of my life.

My name is Rahul.

Just a normal Indian guy—28 years old, a bank cashier, ordinary in every possible way.

Two years ago, I married a woman I genuinely thought I would grow old with.

We were happy… or at least, I believed we were.

Until the truth hit me like a hammer.

She was cheating on me.

Not with a stranger, not with someone distant—

but with my friend. Someone I trusted.

The betrayal was so deep it hollowed me out completely.

For weeks, I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I couldn't understand how the woman who laughed beside me every morning could lie so beautifully.

At first, I wanted to file for divorce immediately.

But then something changed inside me.

A colder, sharper part of me woke up— the part that refused to simply walk away after being stabbed in the back.

So I waited.

Watched.

Collected evidence.

I took my time gathering all the proof of her cheating and got my perfect revenge on her.

At first, I was really furious about her infidelity and wanted to divorce her right away, but after thinking it over, I decided to use her to my advantage before tossing her aside without mercy.

So, what did I do?

I started by collecting audio recordings, text messages, and videos of them in bed together.

Then, I uploaded everything to a private website and made a decent amount of cash.

I even gave that video to some thugs, who then threatened her and forced her to sleep with all of them.

I recorded that too and uploaded it to make enough money.

I also got her to have a baby with another guy instead of the jerk she was into, and she just had that kid a month ago.

I used it as more proof, submitted it in court to show her cheating.

I made more money than all the time I ever spent on her, got my divorce under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, section 125 CrPC, without having to pay any support or alimony.

No payments, no responsibilities, and I raked in a lot of cash.

I thought she deserved every bit of it.

I figured it was a fair move.

But seeing the anger and hurt in her eyes as she looked at me, I realized how far I had gone.

I should have just gathered the evidence and gotten my divorce, letting her live her life.

I really took my revenge too far.

She's just a bitch, not a killer, but I turned her into one.

I started remembering everything…

The quiet mornings, the lazy Sundays, the stupid arguments, the laughter we shared after marriage.

There were moments — small ones — where I truly felt at peace with her.

Moments I didn't appreciate enough.

Moments I never thought would matter until now, when my life was slipping out of my hands.

Cheating is wrong.

But what I did… what I became…

It was worse.

If she no longer loved me, I should have let her go.

Simple as that.

Divorce, walk away, live separate lives. No alimony, no strings — just two adults choosing different paths.

But I didn't.

I let my pride, my ego, and my wounded masculinity take over.

"How dare she cheat on me?"

That destroyed everything.

I convinced myself I was seeking justice… but I was just seeking dominance.

Revenge.

A way to prove I was the one who mattered more.

Humans talk about loyalty, monogamy, marriage vows — but deep down we're animals, aren't we?

We eat.

We sleep.

We work.

We chase pleasure.

We seek warmth.

We fuck.

We call it morality, but it's just instinct wrapped in culture.

I realized all of this too late.

I should have just said:

"If you don't want me, leave."

Simple. Clean. Humane.

Instead I tried to break her because she broke me.

My chest tightened — not from pain, but from regret.

What a joke.

What the hell is marriage anyway?

A fragile agreement between two flawed creatures pretending to be perfect.

A total bullshit contract enforced by society.

As the darkness slowly pulled me in, swallowing my vision and numbing every inch of my body, that was the final thought echoing in my fading mind:

"Marriage… what a pointless illusion."

Then, nothing.

Only silence.

Only void.

I fell… endlessly.
