Chapter 12 - Nightclub part 1

The next night, they stood outside an abandoned giant warehouse.

"So this is the place," Ren muttered to himself.

Apparently, this is the warehouse where the nightclub is held

Kai walked past him. "We should be able to get in from there."

They hadn't even considered entering the nightclub by paying those guys or getting invited. They didn't want to associate with Gunshot in any way, and sneaking in would make it much easier to look for what they wanted.

Because they planned to sneak in, they wore simple disguises: black pants, black hoodies with the hoods up, black caps, glasses, and simple black face masks. Everything was black. They even dyed their hair black using a safe, quick dye that didn't damage hair and could be washed away easily. You didn't even need to shower—it would fade naturally by the next day. Though, if you didn't wash it properly, you'd end up with black grime that did require a shower.

Anyway, they snuck around the back. They expected to run into security, but there was none—only an locked door with the key still in the lock from the inside. Ren easily Created a shade from a shadow to reach it. They entered, walked through the hallways, and eventually found the nightclub area.

As soon as they stepped inside, Ren's eyes widened.

The place was massive. It really was a nightclub. There were lights, posters, people holding drinks, and even a huge dance floor with illuminated tiles. Lights from above focused on it, making the area almost blinding to look at. Ren honestly didn't know how people could dance under something so bright.

But that wasn't the most shocking part.

How the hell did a place like this exist?

Unlike the bar—which had been basically a makeshift setup—this looked like a real nightclub. Like the ones he'd seen on TV.

"How the hell does a place like this exist?" Ren said unconsciously.

Kai beside him answered, "Remember, Star Island has three massive cities. These aren't just large schools—they're giant, living, breathing cities. And even though most of the island's population is made up of students, that doesn't change the fact that these are still cities. And like all cities in the world, they have dark spots and blind spots where the authorities don't look."

Ren kept listening, want to hear more. Even if the island was artificial—meant to be a school rather than a place where people lived normal lives—it was still, undeniably, a city.

The Board of Star Island allowed this to exist on purpose. This wasn't a controlled zone where every student's information was monitored and everyone was constantly supervised. Kai continued, explaining that Blue Light was never the type of person who wanted complete control. He wanted the island to be a living, breathing place—somewhere people could live, interact, and truly get to know each other. He wanted them to experience a form of life they would remember forever, so he gave the island's residents as much freedom as possible.

"Of course," Kai added, "that decision had consequences. But it also helped the world. It showed what's possible when normal people and superpowered individuals live together—the good and the bad. At least, that's what my grandpa told me."

Ren listened quietly, then smiled slightly. If that was truly Blue Light's intention—to give up complete control in exchange for a world that felt alive, where people could find opportunity and freedom—then Ren could understand it. He knew there was a dark side to that freedom, and other sides to it. He knew that. And Right now, he was stuck dealing with those consequences himself. Still, despite everything, he approved of Blue Light's choice.

They continued walking through the nightclub, trying to blend in. Because of that, they got rid of some of their disguises along the way. They took off their hoods and face masks but left the glasses and caps on. Even though it made them stand out a little, it was still something you could see people wearing here.

As they moved through the club, they spotted various things—drinks being passed around openly and public displays of affection between students. All of it was highly illegal due to parental concerns and Star Island's regulations, since none of it was allowed until college. Ren noticed it, but they weren't focused on that right now.

Their attention was on security.

If they wanted to do anything at all, they first needed to know where they could move safely. Doing something stupid in front of a camera would get them caught instantly. So they started looking.

Despite how big the place was, they quickly found several cameras—and an obvious pattern.

"This security sucks," Kai muttered.

Neither of them were experts on security. Even geniuses on Star Island couldn't be good at everything. But even to them, it was painfully clear how bad this was. Some cameras were placed so poorly that they had massive blind spots or barely covered anything useful. Others overlapped, pointing in the exact same direction.

There was even a sign hanging directly in front of one camera.

What the hell is this?" Ren whispered to Kai.

Even though the music was too loud for anyone to hear them properly, they still wanted to be careful so no one could overhear.

"I don't know, man. It doesn't make any sense. Considering all of this, if I had to guess… they blew all their budget or resources on the nightclub," Kai said. "After all, look at this place. It looks like a real nightclub. Well, I've never actually seen a real one, but you get the point. And I still don't get it ren said. Kai tried to rationalise This. Look This place is their only Night club and their main source of income. If any of our information is correct, Gunshot isn't that big of a gang. Combining that with what little information we have, I can say with confidence that this really is their main source of income. They do have one other Bar like the one we visited earlier, but that still doesn't make sense."

Ren frowned. "If this is their main source of income, and that's why they blew all their budget making this place look nice, then why the hell didn't they put any money into security? Even a A moron knows that a place that is this valuable needs security."

Kai glanced around before answering. "This is just a guess, so don't expect it to be true or anything. But like I said, Gunshot isn't that big of an organization. Because of that, not everyone is loyal and People don't fear the gang as a whole as much because of the size and limitations that come with it. So…

Ren got what Kai meant almost immediately. And continued the last part himself some members might be embezzling money from the place." I see. If that's the case, we should keep watch for any cameras and look for whatever we can use to our advantage."

This is perfect if the theory is True then this whole thing will go much smoothly than they thought

(Author's Note:

Well, I don't think this is my best chapter so far… or maybe it is. Honestly, I don't really know. I feel like I'm being a bit too harsh on myself when I write, so I can't rely on my own opinion that much.)
