Chapter 58 - The exam second test skill, part 11

Dammit, dammit, dammit.

Why the hell would they put a feature like the extraction without putting a warning beforehand? I wouldn't have triggered it so casually.

Luke thought to himself. He was the one who had triggered the extraction event, and now he had to deal with the consequences that he didn't know about.

Dammit.

He was hiding behind a bush, trying to gather his thoughts and plan a way for him to win. Luckily for him, they gave him a slight advantage. Because he was the one who triggered this extraction, the message they sent him explaining what was going on also told him how many people were inside the dome. Including him, there were ten people.

Which was problematic.

Because he didn't know how many of these nine people were in teams and how many of them were fighting alone like him.

He just sighed and decided to sneak around the village to get the layout of the place. Knowing the arena he was forced to fight in would help.

Luke slowly moved through the village while keeping a hand on his katana, mapping out the location in his mind. And here is what he found.

The village was small, so it didn't take too long. There were only three streets connected in a way that formed the letter H, with a couple of buildings along the sides and inside of it. It wasn't that complicated to understand the layout.

Luke then hid behind a wall, thinking to himself about how he could take down the rest.

As he was thinking, he heard noises.

When he peeked from behind the wall, he saw two people fighting. They looked quite powerful. Luke just leaned back against the wall and sighed. Strategizing wasn't truly helpful when he had no idea who his opponents were or what they could do.

So he stepped out from behind the wall.

His hand rested on his katana. He closed his eyes, inhaled, then exhaled slowly.

When he opened them again, his red eyes started glowing. From his forehead, where his black hair had been covering, two shadow horns grew out. From the corners of his mouth, black smoke began to seep out.

He slowly walked toward the two students who were still fighting, neither of them noticing him.

And as soon as he got close enough—he disappeared.

Only to reappear on the other side of the fight.

The two students who had been fighting earlier suddenly had massive cuts across their sides—and they were immediately teleported away.

Luke had moved so quickly that neither of them could react.

Luke calmly sheathed his katana and walked behind another building, not worried about whether anyone else had seen him or not.

That was two. Seven are left.

If I'm lucky, maybe one of my friends could be inside the dome and we could team up. If I'm really lucky… Astra would be inside the dome with me. Then our win is guaranteed.

He thought to himself, smiling wide—until the smile dropped the moment he sensed something about to hit him.

He quickly stepped back.

A fist flew in front of him and struck the wall.

Boom.

It was a guy. He landed after the strike and immediately took a fighting stance in front of Luke. Luke unsheathed his sword and got into a stance as well—

Then he heard another boom.

The sound distracted him for a split second. It came from the spot the guy had struck earlier, yet nothing touched it again.

Double impact this is the double impact guy from the last test.

And while Luke was distracted, the double-impact guy was already in front of him. A clean punch landed on Luke's face, sending him back a little—then the second impact followed, sending him even further.

But Luke stayed on his feet.

His shoes slipped slightly against the ground before he stabilized himself. He spat to the side and saw a small amount of blood hit the floor.

Looking at it made him angry.

He glared at the double-impact guy with pure fury.

The double-impact guy just grinned back.

They both dashed at each other.

The moment they got close enough, the double-impact guy threw another punch—but it completely missed Luke's head. Luke's blade slashed toward the man's neck—

And just before it connected, the guy was teleported out.

Luke returned to a normal stance, though the anger hadn't left him.

"Six to go…" he muttered under his breath.

That guy managed to land a hit because he let his guard down. But now—

That wouldn't happen again.

The moment that thought crossed his mind—

Whoosh. Whoosh.

Several projectiles came flying toward him. They all landed around him, none of them touching him.

Luke immediately looked toward where they came from.

He saw two people, each standing on opposite buildings, both pointing their hands in his direction.

They fired their projectiles again, but Luke just ignored that and started running towards the shooter on the left. He ran straight at him while both of them kept shooting. The problem was—they kept missing. The projectiles landed next to him or around him. They kept missing even though he was running in a straight line.

He eventually arrived at the base of the building, but the shooter on top didn't back off or run. He still tried to shoot Luke, but kept missing even though Luke was now much closer and right under him.

Luke jumped straight up and cut down the shooter who was standing at the corner of the building. The shooter got teleported out.

The shooter on the right saw that and started to freak out. He couldn't shoot Luke—he kept missing. Even though his teammate was also shooting with him before, now that he was alone, he knew he wasn't going to win. He couldn't defeat this guy.

But before he could run, he saw Luke crouch at the edge of the building. He was going to launch towards him.

Seeing Luke like that—extremely terrifying with the features that his ability gave him—the second shooter freaked out even harder.

"G-g-GET AWAY FROM ME!" he yelled, and created an energy bolt much, much bigger than before. It could engulf a person. His fear made him create this much faster than he could do before, and he shot it—destroying the building's roof.

Kaboom.

For a second, he thought he did it.

I actually defeated him… He might be hurt—

But before he could finish that thought, he felt something poke his side—and he immediately got teleported.

It was Luke.

He didn't launch from the roof. He got down, ran quickly through the street, jumped to the second shooter's location, and tapped him immediately.

Luke just dropped to the ground again and sighed.

Now all that's left is four people hopefully they weren't hiding and seeing how I took care of everyone else. Because most likely they will try to team up—and that will be just annoying as hell to deal with.

While he was crossing the middle of the middle street, he heard an explosion.

When he looked to the opposite side of the street, he saw fire coming from one side—and someone dropping into the middle of the street, with two people getting teleported away.

Luke saw the guy with long brown hair and blue eyes, who was quite fit and unbelievably handsome.

It was Ren Dover.

And Ren noticed Luke as well.

Luke raised an eyebrow.

Isn't that the guy with Kai…?

Well, this might be interesting.

Luke smirked sinisterly to himself.
