Chapter 108 - Ch 108: Truth - Part 2

Morning came quietly but I did not feel like moving.

The light filtering through the curtains felt unfamiliar, sterile, like it didn't belong to me. My body still felt heavy, but the sharp pain from yesterday had dulled into a manageable ache.

I was awake when the doctor arrived, clipboard tucked under his arm, expression calm and professional.

"Good morning, Miss Jenna. I've reviewed your tests. Everything looks stable. Your vitals are normal, and the poison has fully cleared your system."

He said. 

Relief loosened something in my chest.

"So… I can leave?" 

I asked.

"Yes. You're free to be discharged today. However, there is one more matter we need to discuss." 

He confirmed, then hesitated. His eyes shifted briefly to Damian before returning to me. 

That hesitation made my stomach drop.

"It concerns your records. During the investigation tied to your poisoning, we uncovered an inconsistency. Your death was previously registered and officially classified falsely."
