Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 — Cocoon That Devours a Dead Civilization

Takumi stood on the pulverized concrete outside the fortress, staring at a horizon where skyscrapers had become jagged bones of a long-dead world. The wind carried ash and strange luminescent pollen. Somewhere in the ruins, a beast roared back at him—echoing off hollow megastructures.

He should've been afraid.

But the Herrscher of Reason Authority hummed behind his eyes, rearranging the world like a table waiting to be set.

He could build anything.

Fix anything.

Reshape anything.

Except for the fact that he was bound—permanently—to a dead civilization.

The Cocoon of the End pulsed inside his infinite dimensional storage, waiting. Hungry. Watching.

He opened the item description window again, just to torture himself.

[Cocoon of the End]

Origin of Honkai.

Strength is proportional to the advancement of the bound civilization.

Current civilization: Planetary (Ruined).

Status: 99.9999% extinct.

Takumi groaned and collapsed onto a chunk of collapsed highway support.

"I swear… this is the worst timing for a cheat item in multiversal history."

He opened the chat group. Members were still buzzing about the Cocoon.

Group Chat — Slice-of-Life Chaos Mode

Fujiwara Chika: I Googled it! You got the apocalypse starter pack!! Why do YOU get that?!

Sagiri: Yeah!! That's literally the most destructive egg in fiction! It hatches the END! The END, Takumi!!

Akeno: Fufu~ Leader Takumi, you're quite dangerous. Should we start calling you End-kun?

Takumi: PLEASE DON'T. I'M NOT END-KUN.

Himeko: Hah. Cocoon of the End, huh… What a nostalgic death flag.

Yuu: …Welcome, newcomer. Please don't break the universe.

Fujiwara Chika: EHHH?! Yuu is talking?? They never talk!! That's how serious this is!!

Zhongli: Takumi, we will need clarification. Why do you wish to transfer worlds?

Takumi sighed and typed:

Takumi: Because this world is dead. Civilization is dead. The Cocoon binds to civilization. So if I use it here… I'll be stuck at "planetary-level, barely alive fossil of a world."

Sagiri: …Oof. That's tragic.

Fujiwara Chika: So you died socially so hard you want a new world—

Takumi: NOT SOCIAL DEATH. ACTUAL CIVILIZATION DEATH. I'm literally the last human.

Chika: Oh.

Sagiri: Ohhhh.

Akeno: Ara… that is a problem.

Zhongli: If that is the case… world traversal is not yet unlocked. You cannot leave.

Takumi: Then I'm stuck?? Forever??

Himeko: Think of it as… early access sandbox mode.

Takumi: That is NOT comforting.

But then he noticed the new window blinking:

[Dimensional Domain — Takumi's World]

Time Dilation: 100x

Entry Cost: 10 Points

Potential: Unlimited

His private dimension…

A blank slate.

An empty realm with infinite time.

A civilization seedbed.

His breath steadied.

Maybe—

Just maybe—

He could build a civilization from scratch.

But the Cocoon complicated everything.

He typed slowly.

Takumi: Is there ANY world accepting immigrants? Even one with a half-functioning civilization? I'll consider paying rent.

Chika: WHY WOULD WE LET YOU BRING HONKAI HERE?!

Sagiri: I draw questionable stuff for a living! I cannot have Honkai monsters rampaging outside my house!!

Akeno: I already deal with devils and fallen angels. Adding Honkai sounds like a workplace hazard.

Zhongli: Indeed. Introducing Honkai energy to Liyue is inadvisable.

Takumi put his face in his hands.

"I'm stuck. Absolutely stuck."

He stared at the Cocoon description again.

Civilization strength influences user strength.

A dead civilization means dead power level.

"No way around it," he whispered. "If I want to survive… I need to bind it here."

He hesitated for a long moment.

Then tapped ACCEPT.

A wave of cosmic energy shot through his body.

The Cocoon Awakens

His heart pounded.

Veins glowed faintly violet.

Honkai energy spread from his chest like cracks in glass, but instead of shattering him, it rebuilt. Reforged. Rewired.

The Authority synchronized with the Cocoon, and for a moment—

Reality lost its shape.

A skyscraper in the distance flickered, appearing as it once was centuries ago—glass intact, lights shining—

Then collapsed back into ruin.

Then rebuilt.

Then ruined again.

Takumi gripped his head.

Images.

Memories not his.

Blueprints of a dead civilization streaming into him, rewriting how he understood the world.

He saw:

— orbital cities that once floated above the planet

— subspace factories that ran for a thousand years

— educational towers made of smart-light

— libraries built directly into Earth's crust

— a utopia that died fighting monsters stronger than imagination

"Stop… stop…"

The vision subsided.

Takumi's breathing returned slowly, painfully.

"So that's… the weight of a civilization…"

This was the first psychological cost of godhood.

To wield authority over construction and cognition…

He had to understand the knowledge of an entire extinct race.

The chat group exploded with notifications.

Chika: LEADER?? What's happening?? My screen is vibrating!!

Sagiri: Are you transforming?! Is it cool?! Are you dying?! BOTH?!

Himeko: He's synchronizing with Honkai. Calm down.

Akeno: The entire chat interface is turning purple~

Zhongli: Takumi. Focus. Your consciousness is diverging. Anchor yourself.

Takumi forced air into his lungs.

He visualized a chair.

A simple wooden chair.

Reality obeyed.

Wooden molecules manifested, arranged themselves, bent into shape, and formed the chair he imagined.

He sat.

He anchored himself.

And the Cocoon finished binding.

Honkai Energy Invades the World

A shockwave pulsed outward from him.

Purple particles surged across continents.

Craterlands.

Forests.

Old nuclear wastelands.

Beast dens.

Ruined cities.

Magical beasts inhaled the new energy greedily.

Some mutated instantly—spines sprouting crystalline horns.

Others grew armored plates.

Some gained sentience—glowing eyes peering toward Takumi's direction with sudden malicious clarity.

And far beneath the oceans and mountains…

Ancient slumbering things stirred.

Takumi's eye twitched.

"…Great. I made everything worse."

Group Chat — Panic Mode

Chika: Sooooo… Leader Takumi… is your world supposed to be GLOWING PURPLE?!

Sagiri: ARE THOSE MONSTERS MUTATING BECAUSE OF YOU?!?!?

Akeno: Ara~ chaos. Very on-brand.

Yuu: …Your world is… unstable.

Himeko: Honkai is an infection of concept and evolution. Of course beasts will mutate.

Takumi: I KNOW I SCREWED UP, OKAY?!

Zhongli: Calm yourself. The threat is manageable. You possess the Authority of Reason. Reconstruction is possible.

Takumi stared at his shaking hands.

He could feel it.

Honkai energy swirling like an extra circulatory system.

The Cocoon feeding on the dead civilization's information and slowly beginning to reshape the world.

A dark voice echoed faintly in his mind:

Rebuild.

If civilization is dead… create a new one.

Your knowledge is enough.

Your Authority is enough.

You are the last human—therefore you are the beginning.

Takumi shivered.

Was that the Cocoon?

The Authority?

Or his own ambition?

He didn't know.

First Construction — The Civilization Seed Vault

He opened his palm.

Blueprints unfolded in his mind like blooming flowers.

For the first time, he consciously activated Herrscher Authority.

"Let's see if I can at least build something…"

Hexagon plates materialized in the air.

Steel frameworks knitted themselves into shape.

Nanofiber pipes intertwined.

A fully functional superstructure assembled itself molecule by molecule.

A spherical vault of shimmering blue metal rose from the ruins—tall as a ten-story building.

Inside, Takumi stored:

— preserved samples of extinct Earth culture

— books from the fortress

— seeds from old hydroponics labs

— star maps

— AI cores

— collapsed hard drives filled with human data

His infinite dimensional storage allowed him to store entire libraries at once.

With Reason Authority, he rebuilt everything broken inside those drives.

It was the first spark of civilization reborn.

His chest warmed.

"Okay… this feels… right."

Group Chat — Slice-of-Life Mode On

Chika: OHHH COOL!! Leader Takumi's building a giant shiny ball!!

Sagiri: It looks like a sci-fi gacha capsule! Can I live in it?!

Akeno: The design is quite… elegant.

Himeko: Very Herrscher-like.

Zhongli: A strong foundation. You are beginning your first empire.

Takumi: It's not an empire. It's just… survival.

Chika: Empires always start with "survival."

Sagiri: Leader Takumi, can we visit? I wanna see your weird purple sky!

Takumi: You need 10 points to enter my dimensional world, remember?

Sagiri: …NNOOOOOOOO I'M BROKE

Chika: SAME!!

Akeno: I have points ♥

Himeko: I'm saving mine.

Zhongli: I will enter once necessary. Observation first.

Takumi chuckled tiredly.

He hadn't expected slice-of-life banter to exist while he stood in a post-apocalyptic wasteland surrounded by mutating beasts.

But it helped.

He wasn't alone anymore.

The First Honkai Beast Approaches

A shadow loomed over the ruins.

A mutated wolf—now five meters tall—emerged from the rubble.

Crystalline horns.

Jagged violet lines across its fur.

Eyes glowing with Honkai corruption.

It howled, shaking dust from skyscraper skeletons.

Takumi stood.

"Let's test this."

The wolf charged.

Takumi's Authority expanded like a ripple.

Blueprints instinctively formed.

— kinetic barrier

— momentum redirection plates

— anti-Honkai suppression fields

— electromagnetic bolts

He raised his hand.

Reality shifted.

A glowing blue construct—half shield, half turbine—materialized and slammed into the wolf, redirecting its momentum upward.

The beast soared into the air, howling—

Then Takumi clapped his hands.

Metallic rods assembled midair, forming a cage around the wolf in one fluid motion. Geometric plates snapped shut around it.

The wolf crashed inside the construct prison.

Silence.

Takumi's breathing steadied.

"Well. That actually worked."

Group Chat — Everyone Losing Their Minds

Chika: YOU JUST YEETED A WOLF INTO SPACE AND TRAPPED IT IN A LASER JAIL?!

Sagiri: Leader Takumi OP!!

Himeko: Herrscher precision. Impressive.

Zhongli: Your control improves rapidly. Do not grow intoxicated by it.

Takumi exhaled.

"I won't."

Probably.

He hoped.

Psychological Shift — The First Flicker of Godhood

Takumi looked around at the mutated landscape.

Beasts growling.

Purple skies swirling.

Ruins whispering of the dead.

And he realized…

He could fix it.

Not immediately.

Not perfectly.

But piece by piece.

Structure by structure.

Using knowledge and Authority, he could rebuild the world.

A seed of something dangerous sprouted inside him.

I can rebuild a civilization myself.

I can guide evolution.

I can determine the future.

The thought should've frightened him.

Instead, it felt… calming.

He shook his head violently.

"No. No god complexes today."

But the Cocoon purred softly in storage.

Rebuild… Human…

Takumi swallowed.

This was going to be a problem.

Takumi's World — First Entry

A notification blinked.

[Dimensional Domain Expanding]

[Core Civilization Seed Recognized]

[Visitors Allowed: 0/∞]

Takumi stepped inside his private world.

The moment he entered—

Silence.

Calm.

A blank white expanse.

An infinite canvas waiting for civilization.

He smiled faintly.

"This is where it starts."

Chat Group Reaction

Chika: LEADER ENTERED HIS WORLD!!! TAKE PICTURES!!

Sagiri: YEAH YEAH SHOW US!!!

Takumi:

Takumi: …It's empty.

Akeno: Even better. A blank world is full of possibilities~

Zhongli: A civilization begins with a single structure.

Takumi nodded.

He raised his hand.

Reality bent.

Blueprints spiraled outward.

Earth materialized.

Grass grew.

Water formed into rivers.

A sun-like construct ignited overhead.

Mountains rose.

A breathable sky unfurled.

In seconds, his blank world became a living ecosystem.

Takumi stood in awe of what he created.

"…I… did that?"

The Herrscher Authority hummed, satisfied.

"Okay," he whispered. "Let's start again… from zero."
