I had been driven into the ninth cloud by my husband. Ecstasy blinded me. My legs trembled from the aftermath of our encounter.
I lay flat on the bed unable to lift myself up. Robert disappeared into the bathroom, my fingers curled loosely at my sides, my heartbeat still racing from the way his hands had explored my inner core.
I shouldn't feel this way, I told myself.

I managed to get up and moved towards the window, the soft carpet muffling my steps. The curtains were half drawn, sunlight bleeding through in pale strips that stretched across the bed like fragile promises. Our bed.
