Chapter 7 - Regeneration

Gideon then held Muzan with his other hand. "I'm happy to be back." Gideon proudly said before relaxing his back on the chair he was seated at.

After the conversation with Muzan, Gideon went back to his old apartment, and when he knocked on the door, it was a different person who came in and opened the door.

Gideon was stunned as to who it was. Then he realised that his house must have been occupied by someone else due to how long he had gone missing.

As the man saw Gideon, he raised a brow. "Who are you looking for, sir?"

Gideon gently turned to walk away, but the man stepped forward. "I'm asking you a question."

The man was obviously high; he was holding a cigarette in his fingers. Gideon knew any explanation he would have with the man would probably be a waste of time, so he continued walking away.

The man then pulled out a gun and pointed it at Gideon. "You think I don't know who you are and your main intent here? You are obviously here to take my money again, you bastard. I'm ready for thugs like you."

The man had recently been robbed by some gangsters, and he had assumed that Gideon was one of them. He was robbed of all his money and beaten up mercilessly, and because of that, he bought a gun to protect himself on their next coming. He had never expected that today would be his lucky day in testing what he had bought.

Gideon paused as he noticed what the man was holding; he then slightly raised his hands up in the air. Gideon wasn't having any gun of sorts for his honorable.

"Mr, please stay calm. I'm not a bad person nor a thug. I lived here before, and I had just come to check on my belongings." Gideon gently explained, not wanting to anger the man, but this only made the man's rage skyrocket.

"What did you say?" The man drunkenly raised a brow. "There's no way this house is yours. Now I see what you are trying to do. Are you trying to trick me so I let down my guard so you can beat me and rub me as you and your squad have done previously?"

It was then that Gideon realised what was really happening and he had to take action if not the man would shoot at him. Though it was obvious that the man was depressed and controlled by rage about what had happened to him.

At this point, Gideon knew he had to defend himself because there was no word he could say that would convince the drunk man that his intention was clean and he was not here to hurt him nor take any of his things.

Gideon sighted a trash bin beside him, and if he dived on time, he could at least get a chance to keep himself covered from the man's bullets.

Gideon made the move, but then the man pulled the trigger and the bullet pierced through Gideon's chest midair, creating a deep hole.

As the man did this, he froze. He had never once shot a human before, and this scared him, but then he gripped the gun tightly, but his wrist was trembling.

Gideon stood up from the ground; he lowered his head to the hole that was in his chest, but he couldn't feel pain.

"What in the hell..." Gideon mumbles with disbelief, his eyes widening.

And just then, his system's translucent screen appeared midair, and the same mechanical voice that he heard inside his head sounded again.

Host regeneration abilities had been activated; host injuries would be healed in ten seconds.

After this voice came through with a text, a counter appeared below the translucent screen and began counting downwards.

As the numbers deplete, the hole that was created by the bullet on Gideon's chest begins to heal, and the moment the counter reaches one, the hole closes and the bullet that had been stuck inside falls to the ground.
