Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: The Wooden House

Chapter 66: The Wooden House

Under William and Sadie's gaze, three heads emerged from behind the tree trunk.

Judging from the appearance alone, they all looked human.

But combined with those eerie arms, it was hard to imagine what the scene behind them was like.

In the next second.

William knew the answer.

He saw these "Multi-legged Humans"—he tentatively named them this—crawl out from behind the tree trunk diagonally, moving quickly towards the two.

These monsters were all wearing human clothes, but their movement posture was more like bugs.

Sadie didn't retreat upon seeing this; instead, she took the initiative to meet them.

Only in this way could she create favorable conditions for herself.

Five meters.

Three meters.

One meter.

When Sadie was almost face to face with the monster, she pressed the muzzle against its head.

Bang bang.

Two loud noises rang out in the dense forest.

The monster in front of Sadie was impacted, and its movements stalled.

But she didn't stop her hand movements.

Instead, she drew the dagger hidden on her thigh and stabbed fiercely at the monster's spine and limb joints.

If she didn't attack, fine; but once she attacked, she must hit the vital points.

This was the demon hunter's way of exorcism.

The monster struggled a few times on the spot and then died completely.

After pulling out the dagger, Sadie frowned.

She saw that a part of the originally smooth blade was missing.

It seemed that the blood of this monster was corrosive.

She looked aside again.

Just now when Sadie took the initiative to attack, the other two "Multi-legged Humans" attacked the priest.

But soon she showed surprise.

She saw William motionless on the spot.

After the two monsters got close, they spat out wriggling and slippery cores one after another, aiming at William's exposed skin.

But in the next second.

The monsters all let out painful growls.

Their cores were instantly purified after entering a certain domain.

"Looks like they just look scary and move fast, but their attack form is relatively simple."

William analyzed secretly.

Just now while Sadie attracted attention, he busily arranged a circle of 20-year-old holy artifacts around him.

And was ready to escape at any time.

But he didn't expect the monsters to be all bark and no bite.

Seeing this, William picked up a stick with relief.

Then he pressed it against the chest of one of the monsters, intending to lift its clothes to see the structure of these things.

But immediately after, another monster flipped up.

It shielded its kind, trying to knock the stick away.

This scene made William look strange.

"Does this thing have emotions?"

Then William seemed to realize something.

He saw that the monster held by the stick had a female head.

And the one protecting it in front had a blond white face.

William was shocked at that time!

What kind of monster love is this...

He looked at the monster killed by Sadie again; its head was also a male.

"Is this... a love triangle? A third wheel?"

At this moment, William actually felt a trace of bullying someone else's wife.

"Sorry for not letting your hunt succeed."

He spoke while reaching into his pocket.

"But as everyone knows, those who show off their love must be punished."

After speaking, William poured a bottle of 20-year-old holy water on the two monsters.

Ensuring that every inch of their flesh and blood was purified, he stopped.

"What are you muttering about?"

At this time, Sadie also walked over.

Even though she had seen it once, she was still surprised by William's methods.

"Nothing, just some prayers during exorcism."

William put away his things calmly.

Then he observed the surroundings with [Night Vision]; there was more than one evil aura in the dense forest.

This meant there were many monsters nearby.

He took out a mini crucifix, wrapped one end of the chain around his arm, ready to face danger at any time.

After this episode, the two continued deep into the dense forest.

During the period, William would stop every distance.

Sometimes he would change direction, sometimes turn back.

Sadie was always puzzled by this.

But shortly after they changed direction, she could sense malice from the original path.

Only then did Sadie realize that this priest was consciously avoiding danger.

"This person actually has such strong perception ability."

She prided herself on having [Dark Vision]; whenever an enemy came, she could avoid it immediately.

But this priest could take action before the danger even occurred.

"Is this the inheritance of the Church?"

Sadie was a little envious inside.

Before long, the two came to an open space in the dense forest.

William showed a rare serious expression.

Sadie looked in his direction and saw a small wooden house ahead.

William retreated a few steps silently, hiding himself in a bush.

Only then did he look around the wooden house.

There was no fence outside the house. Two wooden poles were stuck in the clearing beside it, with a rope tied in the middle.

Before long, an old woman opened the door and walked out.

She looked about 60-70 years old, and her legs and feet were a bit inconvenient.

The old woman held a wooden basin, then walked under the wooden poles and hung the clothes in the basin on the rope.

This scene was the daily life of a rural woman.

But it seemed even stranger because of this.

What concerned William more was that he didn't see any evil aura near the wooden house.

There were only two possibilities.

First, this old woman was a human, so William couldn't see any abnormality.

Second, this old woman was a hidden demon, whose strength was far superior to William, so he couldn't see through her.

Just as William was about to leave quietly, the old woman discovered them.

"Are you also here to find someone?"

William raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

...

"Thank you."

Sadie took the hot tea handed by the old woman.

William smiled and signaled her to put it on the table.

After the two were discovered just now, the old woman invited them into the house.

William intended to refuse, but Sadie stepped forward actively.

She didn't feel any malice from this woman.

Seeing that this female demon hunter showed no signs of being disturbed, William followed.

But he still left a bunch of arrangements outside the house just in case.

During this period, William tried various methods.

But the final results all showed—the other party was a human.

And the two also learned why the old woman was here.

Her name was Gisele Peyton, a female worker at a laundry factory not far from here.

Her son Seymour once got lost in this dense forest.

To find him, Gisele quit her job and entered the dense forest alone.

But no trace of her son had been found so far.

Friends advised her to leave.

But Gisele was afraid that her son would appear after she left, so she lived in this dense forest.

She waited for many years.

After listening, Sadie wanted to ask about Sasha, but William beat her to it.

"How do you solve your usual food source?"

"Oh, there are often some injured wild rabbits and squirrels nearby, so I pick them up."

Gisele pointed to the window, where half a piece of rabbit meat was hanging.

William looked in that direction, then raised an eyebrow.

He then asked again: "Mrs. Gisele, aren't you afraid of encountering wolves?"

Gisele patted her chest upon hearing this: "Of course I'm afraid, but fortunately there are no such large animals in this forest."

William stood up upon hearing this and took out a bottle of holy water from his pocket.

"Thank you very much for your hospitality. My hometown is famous for tea, and I also have some exclusive tea brewing secrets. Can I borrow your tea set?"

William stared at Gisele after speaking. If the other party was abnormal, he would act immediately.

But Gisele looked pleasantly surprised.

"Oh really! That's so lucky. Please use it freely; I look forward to tasting your craft."

William smiled slightly, got up, and picked up the teapot.

Tens of minutes later.

The two said goodbye to Gisele. This old lady didn't have news about Sasha.

Sadie was a little disappointed.

But William said: "Let's go meet the person behind Gisele, or rather, the spirit behind her."

Sadie looked confused upon hearing this.
