Chapter 11 - Light of the Morning

"…sigh why is this so difficult?" Lilith grumbled to herself as she took a stone pestal to her hands and attempted to repeatably mush the seasoning into a workable condition,

Adam raised a amused eyebrow at his friend, "Do you need me to actually answer that to you?" She gave him the stink eye, "Don't look at me like that sweetheart~ you asked me to teach you how to make a meal, and I am indeed helping you do so".

She rolled her eyes, before calmly retorted, "While your wit ass is unappreciated, your continued assistance is…I am simply miffed at how tiring this is," as she continued ramming the rock into the bowl.

Which…well Adam could tell that she wasn't really exhausted, it was the kind of tired someone would be after sitting in place for a while.

She was helping him make a few meals for the picnic later—his surprise on top of that!—helping him make a salad, and the sandwiches that included some salmon…sadly he didn't have butter.

He has been spending a few days now teaching her how to cook, a tip here, a nudging there while I somewhat, hands free, guided her, as to her liking.

Hopefully his surprise would bring in genuine joy and wonder, half the reason he spent so long practicing was for the reaction.

"…Alright, I give, what am I looking at Adam?" Samuel said as he held a goose in his lap that was oddly…calmly sitting in his lap, as he and Lilith sat on a log looking at the Ruler of Eden.

Adam was holding a pair of Elk horns that have fallen off a month ago, he spent…quite a bit of time, carefully, ever so carefully carving the small holes into it to turn it into a instrument.

A five chamber instrument that had…not a awful sound to it, it was actually quite pleasant, and spent at least a little time practicing on it for a basic melody,

I monotonously looked at them, "It's a Instrument," softly, a subtle change in his voice that can barely be told apart that he was excited…also the fact his hair and eyes were bright yellow.

They blinked, and tilted their head in unison, ""An Instrument?""

Adam nodded, "An Instrument, something that is used to make music,…this is a Root Flute,"

They still looked kinda lost, "what do you mean by that?…music?," which caused Adam to bring out a stoic smirk, before he inserted his lips to the center.

(Temple on the Hill, by Root Flute)

Its body curves organically, each horn segment seamlessly joined to form a long, graceful aerophone that still bears the subtle textures of its original bone — creamy ivory fading into richer amber tones where the horn thickens.

The five chambers are marked by slight bulges along its length, each with a meticulously carved embouchure or finger hole, and often decorated with shallow tribal etchings or natural grooves that catch the sun.

A hand-woven leather wrap hugs the midsection, both reinforcing the joints and providing a warm, tactile grip for the player, while the gleaming horn surface seems to hum with the memory of the forest from which it was taken.

When played, the Root Flute produces music that's deep, sonorous, and hauntingly earthy — a sound that resembles a convergence of wind sighing through pines and the low calls of wild horned beasts.

Each of the five chambers acts like its own resonant chamber, giving the flute a layered timbre where tones seem to ripple and overlap, creating rich harmonic undertones that aren't typical of modern flutes.

The notes emerge warm and breathy, with an almost vocal quality — at times mournful, other times joyful — as if the instrument itself expresses the very soul of the wild.

Its music feels ancient and meditative, capable of conveying simple melodies that seem to echo long past the final breath, making it perfect for both ritualistic performances and evocative solo improvisations that draw listeners into a trance-like communion with nature.

A minute or two had gone by, as he peacefully played a song, before he finished, the two clapper, Lilith in polite interest, while Samuel had a starry look and was clapping like a toddler in a festival.

[Expert Charisma]

|Epic Skill|

You have an aura of charisma around you, it is less of a skill and more of something about your presence. People of note feel themselves more attracted to your presence, you are more intimidating when you want to be, you are more persuasive when you try to be,

[Stone Face] and [Honesty] have been resolved.

I-…well shit, he didn't really needed to lie anyway…and Stone Face wasn't really a con or a plus…all it did was cause anyone to look at his hair or eyes when they needed to know how he felt.

Immediately he could see it go into effect, how…enraptured they had become after his performance, how much they relaxed through the soothing set of Ruth noises that seemed…to have a pattern.

Ding! Played music for the first time, decently at that, Get a Bronze Skill Ticket!

[Novice Communication]

|Common Skill|

Communication is the ability to better understand what others mean and how fo convey your thoughts effectively. At a novice level, you may not be that much better than the regular person, but at least you know how to properly communicate with people, which is a strangely rare skill these days.

"That was honestly beautiful Adam! So THIS is music?! It's very pretty snazzy!" Samuel was immediately on it, as he zipped on over, grabbing onto the instrument Adam painstakingly took time to make.

Allowing his angelic friend like a child to take the instrument, and carefully examine it all over in a all consuming curiosity.

Lilith, though intrigued, was a lot more collected, approached while still gazing at Samuel's quirky self, she asked him, "It was charming, a Root Flute you call it? The noise made is music?".

The Lord of Names shrugged, "One applications of it yes," as soon as he finished that, Samuel looked back at him with sparkling eyes, Lilith blinked at him.

""There's more?"" They both simultaneously asked him, though one was more excited than the other.

Adam snorted, a lot more animated already, which faced with the wide eyed looks from the two, they definitely noticed, "Of course, anything can be music, you just need to listen be it the wind or the rocks,"

"…Anything?" Lilith asked confusedly, her eyes squinted in thought, as she contemplated his words.

Samuel picked up a rock as he too squinted at a rock suspiciously, "Anything?" Looking at the stone as if it was hiding dastardly secrets from him.

Adam snorted, "Anything, you just have to find…similar patterns, something that…harmonisizes with itself".

"…What kind of instruments have you thought up?" Samuel asked with a curious smile, fiddling with the horns that is the flute.

Adam shrugged, as he rubbed his bearded chin, "there was several that came to mind…that I simply didn't have time for or didn't find the right material to make it work…there's this Drum I want to make, but I can't find anything that would be thin enough and strong enough to be stretched and played…another is a violin made from using some strings I need from an animal,…the simplest is the Voice to be honest, singing," throwing out some of the ideas he had for several months, but chose the simplest one that harmed no animal and he knew roughly how to make it.

Lilith paused, "Singing?" She wasn't sure entirely on that idea, could her voice truly create such an art with it alone?

"…Could we truly be able to do this… sing?"

"Singing, also…I don't particularly see a reason why not"

"YEA LILY! If you wanna you can go on and do the singing thingie right away!" Samuel happily chirped in support, which successfully drew a exasperated, and yet fond, sigh from her.

"…I don't believe I could recreate Adam's song…not perfectly anyway,"

Adam stopped before taking the first bite from the sandwich, as he looked at her weirdly, "What does that have to do anything?"

Now it was her turn to look at him strangely, as she gestured over to him and the flute, while Samuel happily devoured the dish.

"This is really good Adam! You really outdid yourself with this again!" Probably not noticing the fact he abruptly changed the subject, the Angel stared down at the sandwich in his hand.

The first man smirked in amusement, while Lilith huffed with indignation, "Actually…a lot of the work came from her," as Samuel froze mid bite.

Something that Adam provided the base for…but was modified by Lilith for the lack of some ingrediants.

"Really now Sammy?, ready and willing to assume that it was made completely by Adam?" Lilith poked at her angelic friend, her hair whipping behind her in what Adam had deduced indicated in that pattern of teasing, mixed with a bit of annoyance.

Samuel immediately fumbled, blushing hot red in awkward embarrassment, a little bit of shame mixed in, "I-I uh, Lilith it's not- surely I would have- it's amazing! No wonder it wa made by-stars above! I-" amusedly, the short king of the group started spiraling in excuses, a tone that may have suggested a apology as he started tripping over his own words.

Before Adam and Lilith broke down in amused giggles and chuckles over his reaction, realizing he wasn't in any trouble, Samuel crossed his arms and pouted away from them.

"…I was speaking truthfully, it tastes great," he quietly admitted, before Lilith's smile widened and gave him a small hug, to which he innocently blushed. "And I thank you for that~" was her joking reply, pride flowing through her words.

Adam however did not forget about the original conversation, "Why are you so worried about needing to be perfect when doing something like singing?"

"…Should I not be? What is the point of doing anything if I simply am worse at it than you are,"

"…Lilith, I can assure you it took me quite some time to actually carve this out, multiple attempts at that…and make a song about it…there was nothing perfect about it," Adam deadpanned at her for such a preposterous comment.

Lilith stared at him as if he just stated a contradiction, "…But it won't be perfect…it would not come out right…I don't think it can come out naturally great the first time,"

Adam shrugged, "Does it matter? Some things come out perfectly sure, but a lot of things sure won't…it's okay to not be perfect, to take your time and practice," he advised her.

Her breath shuddered at that, a sort of…relief, and sharp intake of air when he said that, a gleamful look to her eyes,…as if she just had a revelation.

"…But…what do I sing about?" Oh shit, she is gonna do this now? Sure why not.

Adam gave a good big stretch while Samuel suddenly looked a lot more interested in the conversation instead of pretending to look mad, "Anything you want…just from the heart,"

"Any seemingly perfect advise you want to give?" She tried as she raised an eyebrow.

"Typically at the end of a line, the word should rhyme, keep a constant beat, and try to keep the intake of the breath as soundless as possible…and honestly?…imagine what you want the song to go," as he went back to eating his sandwich

Lilith stared down at the wool blanket that they were using from the Wooloo, as she pondered on…what to do with that.

Her eyes wondering over to the beautiful Sunrise of breakfast, the way the beautiful sky overtook the morning glow….

…Perhaps she could sing about that?

Taking Adam's advise, she closed her eyes, and simply…listened to what she was feeling, to the her surroundings and to her emotions.

Concentrating deeply…over what she wants, over what she imagined the music to sound like, the sound of her voice…and how it all could…just come together.

Unknown to her…her mana surged, to which Samuel immediately noticed as he blinked multiple times, "uh Lilith?…are you okay? That is a IMPRESSIVE amount of mana you are emitting…"

Which only seemed to worry Adam, especially since Lilith didn't deign to give an answer, "…Lilith?"

A wave of mystical energy gently erupted from the woman, while her eyes was closed, while her perfect, and yet nude body laid there focusing on herself.

"Something is off…, Lilith is radiating…a lot more magic than I believe any of my siblings anticipated-" he suddenly stopped dead on while he stood up.

Which was fair, as as soon as I started to get out of my seated position…music seemingly started playing…out of nowhere.

(Play The Sky that Overtakes Sunrise)

"The new morning paints the sky in crimson-gold~

Come to everyone

The blue sky overtakes the morning lights"

Like legit…he heard a drumset with symbols…an guitar playing the loudest of them all, alongside what he believe to be a xylophone.

But none do that mattered…what mattered was the sound that caused both me and Samuel to just…freeze.

To stop in the sheer fear that if we even so much as breathed we would cause the downright…beautiful singing to stop.

"The new morning~ colored the sky red and yellow~

Peacefully, as if yesterday's noise had been forgotten.~"

…The way rays of sunshine hit her flowing hair, the calm serene expression she bore and sounded out of her pipes.

"The night went away and a new day began

Through the yellowish red morning light

The real morning finally arrived

The sky beats the morning light

No matter what the night brings"

…what the heck was she worried about?! Not as perfect as him- she is blowing him out of the water

Adam's jaw and Samuel's dropped, as the smoothest, cleanest, and downright the best singing come out of the lips of the First Woman.

No matter what kind of nightmares hurt you

Even so, that morning will come

Come to everyone

The blue sky overtakes the morning light"

(Nana~) the two of them sat back down, no words needed, nor desired, as they sat down and quietly listened at what was…quite frankly spectacular.

"The new morning colored the sky red and yellow

Before I knew it

The shining stars quietly disappeared

Morning comes inevitably

The sky overtakes the morning light

Coming to you wherever you are

Finally the blue sky was overhead"

Our body tensed, as we both heard the music that seemed to just perfectly follow along with Lilith's song, as it started to build up.

Before we hit the climax.

"La la la la laaaaa

La la laaaaa la la laaa la laaaa la laaaaaaaaa"

A soft breeze flowed forth…bringing flower petals of all shapes and colors with it, birds of every and all kinds ranging from paradise to mundane…flying in a circle above, the sun itself only seeming to enhance this…glow that she seemed to gave on her.

"Now, with this sky and earth

Nothing gets in the way

One one, come on. Go and let the gentle wind blow~

La la la la laaaa la la laaaaa la la laaaa la la laaaaa"

It was quiet, for the first time since she started, opened her eyes when the music ended, when the outright cinematic scenery before me went back to normal.

We just stood there frozen, as she suddenly looked worriedly at us, as we…didn't have anything to say…

No, actually that would be a lie…

Adam clapped, to which Samuel immediately followed through with a lot more enthusiasm while the First Man was…stuck there processing the fact something straight out of a Musical just occured.

"…Yea no…you were wrong, I didn't even come close…I tilt my crown to you…you have utterly left me in the dust with no mercy…Bravo Lils…Bravo," what was adorable was the little blush she emitted, all the while Samuel started word vomiting about every new thing he had experienced in the past few minutes.
