Lilian's POV

My pulse stopped completely. I rushed to the window to see who had arrived.

A sleek black vehicle came to a halt in the driveway. Two figures stepped out: Augusto and Antonio. Cold terror flooded my system. What was Augusto doing here?

After everything with Rosie's hospitalization and my father's disgraceful behavior, Augusto had every reason to loathe me.

If he discovered me here, his anger would be beyond control. He would throw me out without hesitation. I needed to disappear. I could wait until they departed, then complete my packing and vanish forever. I slipped into the bathroom, my pulse racing frantically, and waited. Minutes crawled by in absolute quiet. Nobody entered.

Perhaps they had already gone. Carefully, I emerged and crept to the window. No such fortune. His vehicle remained parked outside.

I moved silently to the hallway, peering down at the expansive living area below. It stood empty. The entire house felt eerily silent.
