I didn't want to end my marriage with Jenifer, and honestly, if Eliza could convince her to reconsider, that would be the ideal solution.
But doubt gnawed at me. Given how cruelly Eliza had treated Jenifer in the past, I questioned whether Jenifer would even give her a chance to speak.

The following day, I sat in my office reviewing the previous year's financial statements when Elise knocked and entered.
"Ms. Zach, there's a lady outside claiming to be your husband's mother. She wants to meet with you. Should I show her in?" Elise inquired.
My husband's mother? I lifted my eyebrows, genuinely surprised.
Confusion flickered through my thoughts as I frowned.
Why would Reed's mother, who despised me, suddenly appear at my office?
