Jenifer's POV
"I never imagined I'd have a cousin." Serena's surprise was evident, but her delight shone even brighter.
I didn't intervene with Serena's enthusiasm, believing kids shouldn't get tangled up in grown-up complications. If Romano and Serena clicked, I'd gladly let her call Romano her cousin.
"Alright, Serena," I gently reminded the little one, "kindergarten starts tomorrow, so you need to get to bed early tonight, okay?"
She bobbed her head eagerly. "Don't worry, Aunt, I can wake myself up. If you want to sleep in, just ask Mr. Antonio to drive me. I can handle school by myself."
Serena's consideration left me speechless for a moment. I simply stroked her head softly and said, "Get some rest early."
