Chapter 103 - Chapter 103 Face First Fall

Jenifer's POV

Romano's gaze fell on my wheelchair, and I could see him remembering what Reed had told him—that his accident was the reason I needed it. Guilt washed over his features immediately.

"Mom, let me push you," Romano said, gently moving Eliza's hand away.

Eliza had been lost in her scheming thoughts about how to cause me more trouble, so her grip had loosened unconsciously, making it simple for Romano to brush her aside.

With the restraint gone, I spun my wheelchair around and slipped free from between them both. My eyes searched for Serena, who stood quietly tucked away in the corner.

The driver was kneeling beside Serena right then, tenderly examining her injuries and carefully wiping her tears with a tissue while speaking to her in soothing tones.

Relief flooded through me at the sight—my anxiety finally began to ease.

But just as I started to relax, a sharp cry of alarm rang out behind me.
