Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Mastermind Behind the Scenes

Creak——

With a teeth-grinding noise, the alloy door of the laboratory was twisted into a spiral shape.

The surrounding walls also developed web-like cracks under the immense pressure.

The beast-like man tore the door off the wall with his bare hands and walked heavily into the room.

All pairs of terrified eyes focused on his hulking figure, and a dozen staff members huddled in a corner, silent as cicadas in winter.

Lu Xun casually tossed the door aside, his blood-red eyes coldly scanned the room, and his voice was thick and low as he asked:

"Where is the brain? Don't make me ask a second time."

Everyone was pale-faced; such a robust physique and a beastly aura exuded an overwhelming sense of oppression.

Especially since Lu Xun was now covered in blood, with shocking wounds all over his body, further adding to his intimidation.

The muscle-bound devil is terrifying as hell!

"Over... over there."

"In the instrument."

They all pointed in unison to the same place.

Lu Xun shifted his gaze and looked over.

A mass of bloody flesh was stored inside a memory extraction device. It was a part of Old Octopus's brain, including most of the pituitary gland, hippocampus, and deep nuclei.

The extraction process of the machine was nearing its end, about to peel off Old Octopus's memory images.

Boom!

With a blank expression, Lu Xun raised his hand and unleashed an orange-red spiral fireball, easily destroying and incinerating the entire machine.

After completing this, he extended his giant arm towards the crowd, gripping a female researcher by the waist and bringing her to eye level. With his fanged mouth opening and closing, he asked:

"Where is your leader?"

"Top... the top floor." The woman immediately burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably, "Please, don't eat me, I'm begging you, don't eat me... boo hoo~"

Lu Xun glanced at her strangely and said, "I'm not some kind of monster, how could I eat people? Can't you tell I'm human?"

"Yes, yes, I can tell, of course you are human!"

She almost blurted out the truth but quickly changed her words, nodding like a pecking chick: "There's no doubt about it!"

"Not bad, quite honest."

Lu Xun released his thick fingers and put her down.

Then he turned and left the laboratory.

The silhouette with the giant "muscular demon face" disappeared from view, and everyone couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

"That monster has no self-awareness!"

"Exactly, where does he look like a human?"

"It's really terrifying, I was so afraid he would eat me in one bite just now!"

It wasn't until Lu Xun was far away that they dared to whisper complaints.

...

Top floor, Chairman's office.

Lu Xun burst in with a "bang".

His soul-piercing red eyes immediately locked onto the middle-aged man inside.

Bam bam bam!

Chairman Jiang's hands trembled as he fired three shots, one of the electromagnetic bullets hitting its mark.

Lu Xun stood like a towering mountain, his body unmoving. He glanced at the bleeding hole on his left shoulder, then raised his head to focus his gaze on Chairman Jiang.

"Are you the one pulling all the strings behind this?"

He asked sternly, taking a step as his eight-foot-tall body slowly advanced toward the other.

Chairman Jiang gritted his teeth, still wanting to pull the trigger, but the next moment, he was lifted in mid-air by a massive hand.

The five fingers, like indestructible steel bars, tightly clenched his body, making him unable to move an inch.

"Heh heh~ You think I'm the mastermind? You're wrong, you have no idea what kind of existence you've offended!"

Chairman Jiang, knowing there was no escape, became hysterical and shouted:

"You're doomed, no one can save you! Just wait, no matter how deep you hide, my boss will find you, kill you, and wipe out your whole family!"

"You shouldn't have meddled in this, you've offended people you shouldn't have offended!"

Crack——

Lu Xun found him annoying, so he simply clenched his fingers, and suddenly the entire world fell silent.

He dipped his finger in Chairman Jiang's blood, brought it to his lips to taste, activating the "Blood-Hunting Soul" to communicate with the undead of the deceased.

Soon, he learned the whole story from the other's memories.

That previously wanted masked man was actually not an active City Defense Iron Guard but a secret agent named Zhang Xinghai.

For some unknown reason, he defected.

Above Chairman Jiang, there was a mysterious "boss."

Chairman Jiang wasn't very clear about this "boss's" specific identity, only knowing that the person was an extraordinary figure with terrifying power in Jinghai City.

He was just a dog raised by the "boss."

Specially tasked with handling dirty work in the dark for his master.

Power Armor, Plasma Light Saber, Electromagnetic Rail Rifle... all these pieces of equipment came from that person.

As for why someone would want to kill Zhang Xinghai, Chairman Jiang didn't know and didn't dare to ask.

After all, as a good dog, when the master told him to bite someone, he did not need to know the reason, just to bite.

Lu Xun really wasn't interested in these matters either.

He searched Chairman Jiang's memory just to confirm the safety of his own identity.

Old Octopus was dead, and his brain had been incinerated.

No one in the world would be able to use this trail to trace back to Lu Xun.

At this point, he was basically freed from this vortex.

Whoosh~

Raging flames consumed Chairman Jiang's corpse, turning it to ashes in the blink of an eye.

In the distance, the sound of sirens was approaching.

In no time, drones and police aircraft would surround this building.

Lu Xun wasted no more time.

With a powerful leap, he crashed through the floor-to-ceiling window and flew out.

With his formidable momentum, he soared several dozen meters through the air, landing directly on the nearby clock tower, showing incredible jumping ability.

Then he continued to dart across rooftops through the night, disappearing into the shadows in the blink of an eye.

...

Ten minutes later.

In an opulently decorated room.

A man in a suit sat in a chair, his hair meticulously groomed and attire both sophisticated and exquisite, watching the video before him with great interest.

The video showcased Lu Xun's rampage through a security company.

Including the battle where he single-handedly defeated a power armor unit, captured by hidden cameras.

In the end, seeing his "good dog" being crushed to death, its remains incinerated.

The man's face showed no anger at all.

Instead, he displayed a calm demeanor, his expression unchanged.

"I've watched it, so what?"

He looked at his subordinate standing respectfully in front of him and asked, "Where did this big dumb guy come from?"

"... Mr. Xu, the identity of the opponent is unknown, outwardly resembling the Ogre Race, but many physical traits differ from them... most likely a human injected with a special mutation serum."

An older subordinate analyzed quietly:

"According to my assessment, he has reached the level of a 'Special Level Tier Four Warrior,' but the strange thing is, he is clearly not skilled in body techniques; his fighting style is... rough."

The subordinate's comment was rather polite.

Lu Xun's skill in body techniques was more than just rough; it was entirely lacking in skill.

Like an amateur, swinging Turtle Fists wildly.

Clearly had never systematically learned combat techniques.

But his physical prowess was astounding, immensely powerful, impervious to blades and bullets, crashing through the entire security company without needing skills.

"Just a little mouse, insignificant," Mr. Xu said indifferently, "We'll settle accounts with him slowly later, are there any other matters?"

"Um... Jiang Yiming is dead, and the security company has been sealed by the Public Security Bureau for hoarding various military-grade equipment..."

"If the dog's dead, just raise another one, and you don't need to worry about the arms smuggling issue, let them investigate."

Mr. Xu impatiently waved his hand, his expression turning gloomy:

"Don't bother me with these trivial, rotten matters in the future. Kill when needed, bury when necessary; do I need to teach you this?"

Upon finishing, he stood up from his chair, tidied his appearance, and turned to leave.

Soon after, he swiftly put on a gentle smile that made people feel as if bathed in the spring breeze. Taking the speech from his beautiful assistant, he stepped out from behind the scenes, greeted by the flashes of countless cameras and cheers, slowly ascending the podium.

Under the dazzling spotlight, beneath a sea of people, tens of thousands of intense eyes focused on him.

"Councillor Xu!"

"The pride of our Zone 3!"

"This man is as upstanding and kind as always!"

"With the election approaching, we support you in becoming the new Speaker! Keep it up!"

...

The citizens screamed and shouted, passionately offering their hearts to Councillor Xu!
