Chapter 97 - Vincent

Damian stared absentmindedly at the glowing screen of his phone, the silence on the other end of the line sounding louder than any explosion.

The loud, sickening thud that had echoed through the speaker—the sound of a heavy blow connecting with flesh—replayed in his mind on a maddening loop.

It was followed by a sharp gasp, the sound of a struggle, and then the finality of a dead line. It was the sound of his world being torn apart in a single second.

"Where is she? Any trace?" He questioned, his voice a low, vibrating growl of pure, unadulterated anger. He didn't look up; his gaze was fixed on the darkened screen of his phone as if he could force it to come back to life through sheer force of will.

Beside him, Lucas was working with a frantic, focused energy, his fingers swiping across his iPad with a speed that blurred. The blue light of the screen reflected in his glasses, casting a cold, clinical glow over his face.
