Chapter 3 - Her

Suddenly, she looked straight at me.

Her eyes—

they weren't normal anymore.

A faint glow flickered inside them, like fire trapped behind glass.

That look…

it was familiar.

Too familiar.

I took a step forward, expecting her to flinch, to panic, to show even a drop of fear.

She didn't.

She just stared at me with that cold, burning gaze.

"What are you looking at?" I asked, my voice low.

She didn't blink.

Didn't move.

Didn't tremble.

"You were planning to kill me, weren't you?"

My breath caught for a second.

Humans weren't supposed to see through me.

Humans weren't supposed to sense anything at all.

And her eyes…

they weren't glowing from fear.

They were glowing from something else—

something powerful.

Something dangerous.

I narrowed my eyes.

"Who… exactly are you?"

She tilted her head slightly, the corners of her lips lifting just a bit.

"That depends," she whispered.

"Who are you to decide?"

The room tensed around us.

Even the moving restaurant felt it.
