Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Adventurer Squad

As the new goblin icon lit up, Raine immediately felt a surge of heat coursing through his body.

He only felt that his entire body's muscles seemed to become stronger and more taut.

Raine lifted the linen shirt covering his belly, only to find that the small amount of fat around his waist had disappeared without a trace, and his eight-pack abs were unusually distinct.

What surprised him even more was that he suddenly realized his surrounding vision had become much clearer and brighter.

It was already dusk, and the sky was getting darker.

Logically, the view toward the corners of walls or places covered by shadows should be less clear.

But now, when Raine looked at these dim places, it was as bright as day.

He could clearly see a field mouse poking its head out of the shadow of a wall crack, sniffing around as if looking for food.

And a child standing behind a young mother, concealed by the shadows, was sneakily sucking on their finger.

"This..."

This change was truly beyond Raine's expectations.

When he concentrated on the attributes panel, he finally understood the reason.

[Name: Raine]

[Class: Farmer]

[Blessed Bloodline: Goblin Warrior Bloodline]

[Bloodline Talent: High-speed Reproduction Lv3...Strong Lv1....Low Light Vision Lv1]

[Power: 5 (+1)]

[Agility: 5 (+1)]

[Constitution: 5]

[Intelligence: 7]

[Perception: 5]

[Charm: 5]

"So the next level after a regular goblin is a Goblin Warrior, huh?" Raine focused on the newly added blessed bloodline.

"The previous Dexterity Lv1 is gone."

"It must have been overridden by this Strong Lv1."

"Dexterity Lv1's effect is Agility +1, whereas this Strong Lv1's effect is both Agility and Power +1." Raine naturally noticed the change in power in the attributes panel.

"Oh, Low Light Vision Lv1? So the reason my vision became much brighter is because of this." Raine showed a look of realization.

He focused on the Low Light Vision Lv1, and a line of small text appeared:

Low Light Vision Lv1 Effect: Your vision in low light environments will greatly improve, allowing you to clearly see scenes within approximately 30 meters around you.

Raine squinted slightly.

The effect of this low light vision, in his opinion, if used well, is not at all inferior to Dexterity Lv1.

Especially at dusk or under a starlit night sky, it can practically determine the outcome of a battle.

In low light environments, ordinary people can barely make out objects within a range of a dozen meters, of course, this refers to objects roughly the size of a field mouse.

And with nearly a 30-meter view at this moment, he can greatly avoid being first discovered by enemies.

He might even be able to ambush those with lesser vision unexpectedly.

At this moment, the discussion in the village central square was nearing its end.

Though most still did not wish for their husbands or fathers to venture out and risk huge danger in the night to eliminate goblins.

However, seeing the families who lost their daughters so heartbroken, a few relatively stronger villagers stood up.

Leading them was the militia captain, Jefferson.

To which Raine wasn't very optimistic.

Others might not see clearly at dusk, but with the blessing of Low Light Vision, he could clearly see that, besides Jefferson, the other villagers' gazes were somewhat unsteady.

Obviously, they had no confidence in fighting goblins in the woods at night.

They are merely farmers without professional combat training, and this time standing out was largely due to passion and indignation.

Admirable but not rational enough.

"Berry is back!"

"And the adventurer lords he invited are here too!"

A loud cheer suddenly erupted from the crowd's periphery!

Hmm?

Adventurer lords?

Raine couldn't help but turn toward the village entrance and saw a group of four being quickly led to the square by the villager Berry.

With his newly acquired low light vision, he could naturally see the outfits of these four people clearly.

Judging by their appearance, all four of them were quite young, around the age of twenty, three men and one woman.

The leading man held a round shield in his left hand and had a knight's longsword at his waist, wearing chain armor, accompanied on his right by a leather-armored man with two short darts at his waist.

On his left was a man carrying a two-handed greatsword on his back.

The young woman was conspicuously wearing a longbow on her back, with a quiver full of arrows on each side of her waist, clearly an archer.

"Village Chief Kael, these are the adventurer lords from Mill Town."

"Greetings, Chief, we are the Oak Shield Adventurer Squad, and I am Captain Thor."

"Lord Thor, thank goodness, you have finally arrived. Here's the situation, our village was just attacked by goblins, four or five people were injured, and two young girls were taken by the goblins."

"We plead with you, could you depart now to rescue the girls?"

"Two girls were taken?" Hearing this news, Raine noticed that the shield-bearing young man named Thor changed his expression.

He seemed to ponder for a moment, then said to Village Chief Kael, "I still need to discuss this matter with my teammates."

Thor turned to his three teammates as if seeking their opinion.

"Fighting those green-skinned scoundrels at night is very risky. Besides, it doesn't align with our original plan." The dual dart man shook his head, refusing.

"I don't mind, but at night, with such poor vision, Nia, as a shooter, would have her combat effectiveness greatly reduced."

The young man with the greatsword spoke relatively tactfully but it was clear he too was not supportive of nighttime combat.

Seeing that the two adventurer lords were unwilling, the families of the missing girls, Rose and Loli, turned pale and began to sob and plead again.

The adventurers were almost their last hope.

"Adventurer lords, please! If you don't rescue them in time, it's unlikely they'll survive."

"Adventurer lords, can we offer more money? More money!"

Rose's father pulled a purse from his chest, offering it hopefully.

As if being a woman made her more compassionate, the female shooter named Nia considered and then said, "I think we could first assess the situation. If the goblin numbers aren't large, there shouldn't be a significant problem."

Hearing the shooter's words, Captain Thor nodded, immediately turning to the surrounding villagers to ask:

"I have a few more questions for those who spotted the goblins. Did you notice any unusual individuals among the goblins?"

"For instance, particularly large ones, or ones wielding special weapons?" The man named Thor looked around, inquiring.

"No."

"Didn't see any." The villagers shook their heads.

"How many goblins did each of you encounter?" Thor asked again.

"Two. I was going to deliver water to Lime when I saw the rice by the road shaking, so I became cautious. When I realized they were goblins, I immediately ran back to the village." A hefty woman with a bucket waist said.

"Three. Thankfully, I noticed early, and I managed to escape, swinging my sickle." A farmer recounted with lingering fear.

"Two. I was ambushed, but luckily Raine killed them and saved me." At this point, farmer Gates, who had just finished bandaging, said seriously.

Upon hearing this, the four adventurers present all turned their heads to look over.
